Mumbai, Apr 12 :  Actor Ajay Devgn on Sunday said he is "disgusted" over reports of healthcare workers being attacked by people at a time when the country is fighting the coronavirus pandemic.

The "Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior" star's reaction comes weeks after several Bollywood stars condemned gruesome incidents of physical assault and stone pelting at doctors and other frontliners who are managing the COVID-19 outbreak in different parts of the country.

"Disgusted and angry to read reports of 'educated' persons attacking doctors in their neighbourhood on baseless assumptions. Such insensitive people are the worst criminals. #StaySafeStayHome #IndiaFightsCorona," Ajay wrote on Twitter.

Bollywood personalities including Rishi Kapoor, Javed Akhtar, Hema Malini, Paresh Rawal among others have expressed their discomfort over the attacks on healthcare workers in the past.

India is currently under the lockdown with around 1.3 billion people asked to stay home in view of the coronavirus outbreak, which has infected over 8,000 people and claimed 273 lives in the country.

Mumbai, Jul 11: Ajay Devgn will essay the eponymous role in "Chanakya", a historical drama on master economist and royal advisor to the first Mauryan emperor Chandragupta.

The film will be directed by Neeraj Pandey.

The 49-year-old actor, who will be collaborating with Pandey for the first time, said he is excited to work with the director.

"I am truly looking forward to playing Chanakya. I've followed Neeraj Pandey's work closely and I know Neeraj will tell this story with the clarity and passion with which it needs to be told," Devgn said in a statement.

Pandey said "Chanakya" is a passion project on which he has been working on for a while.

"I have been developing this film on Chanakya for quite some time now. It's an exciting work of passion for me, and I am sure the audiences will love Ajay in his portrayal of the visionary genius," he said.

The film will be produced by Reliance Entertainment, Friday Filmworks and Plan C Studios.

New Delhi, Mar 9: Bollywood actor, known for his intense acting Ajay Devgn along with beautiful Ileana D'Cruz promoted their upcoming crime drama flick, "Raid" out here in Delhi. 
Along with the cast, producer Bhushan Kumar, Kumar Mangat Pathak, and director of the film Raj Kumar Gupta were also present. 
Apart from this, the entire team of 'Raid' also launched 'INOX INSIGNIA', known as the first Laserplex in Delhi and the whole of North India. 
Ajay and Ileana shared their experiences and uniqueness about the movie. 
On being the part of socially serious films and on the take of anti-politician issues Ajay stated, "No matter its politician, you and me, we from industry, media, where do we come from, we come from the same society. And we are the part of the same society which belongs to good people and bad people as well. There are corrupted people also. And anti-politician doesn't mean every politician in the country is corrupt.'
'There are two different things when we are talking about the films and we are talking about some corruption, we are showing some corruption. And I have also done 'Rajneeti' when I was a politician, what would you say about that. So there are different and all types of people. I did many different kinds of films, this is not the only forte I work with,' he said.
Whereas, the producer Bhushan Kumar and actress Ileana D'Cruz and director of the film Raj Kumar Gupta seemed excited and positive about their upcoming film. 
On talking about the launch of 'INOX INSIGNIA', the director of INOX Siddharth stated, "We began our journey from Mumbai to Banglore and now finally in Delhi also. We believe it's our duty to improve the cinema-going experience. I hope everyone will enjoy this latest technology and have better experience."
This film is featured under the banner of T-Series and Panorama Studios. 
"Raid" is written by Ritesh Shah and directed by Raj Kumar Gupta. 
Apart from Ajay Devgn, Ileana D'Cruz it also stars Saanand Verma and Saurabh Shukla in prominent roles. The principal photography of the film commenced at Lucknow and Raebareli. 
The movie is scheduled to release on March 16. UNI 


New Delhi, Mar 8: He may have wowed film critics with his performances over the years, but Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn says his daughter Nysa is his biggest critic.
Talking to, Ajay, who will be soon seen in Rajkumar Gupta's 'Raid', said 'At my home, my daughter is my biggest critic, more than even my wife Kajol. She is totally frank about my movies and tells me what she really feels.'
Talking about the flick, which hits cinema screens worldwide on March 16, Ajay said it is a film about real events - a raid that was carried out in the 80s.
'When I heard the script, I was told that the story is based on real events, due to which I said yes to it. I really liked the story of the movie,' he said.
Asked about his character, he says, 'I play the character of Amey Patnaik, who is an income tax officer. This film revolves around a big raid that was carried out in the 80s.'
Asked if he had ever been raided by the income tax authorities, the actor said, 'Yes, once I was also raided. It was perhaps in 90s. I was not in the city, and was shooting somewhere for a movie. The raid went on for about two days but the officials did not find anything.'
Ajay is all praise for director of the film Rajkumar Gupta.
'He is a very simple person. However, he has done a lot of good work. Rajkumar Gupta 's sense of directiion is very good,'the actor said.
On the changes that he feels that have happened in the audience tastes over the years, Ajay said, ' I think one thing tbat has changed is the star system. Thing are no longer the same as they were before.
We were lucky that our fans were very loyal, and continue to support us. However, nowadays the viewers are very choosy about the movies they want to see. Today, the audience only watch those films in cinema halls that they really want to watch .'
Asked as to when can one expect the next films in the 'Singham'and 'Golmaal'series, Ajay said, 'I am sure the story of next edition of both films will be ready soon.
'Currently, we are just waiting for a good script. Work to come up with a good script is going on,' he added.
Written by Ritesh Shah, 'Raid' features Ajay Devgn and Ileana D'Cruz in the lead.
It also features Saanand Verma and Saurabh Shukla in key roles.
It is about a real life story of IT officer Amay Patnaik, who carried out a raid on the premises of Rameshwar 'Rajaji' Singh (Saurabh Shukla). UNI


New Delhi, Feb 20: Director Rohit Shetty is all set to launch a new animation series called 'Little Singham' for children in 5-11 yrs age-group inspired by superhit franchise 'Singham' Ajay Devgn starring, trade sources said on Tuesday.
The animated show will make its debut on television in April 2018 on Discovery Kids channel, sources said.
Rohit Shetty Picturez, Reliance Animation and Discovery Kids, will be launching 'Little Singham', an original kid’s content series in India to be aired in four languages- English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
The intro line of 'Little Singham' is-- ‘Police ki wardi, Sher ka Damm, Naam hai mera – Little Singham!’ 
The first season to go on air will have 156 episodes and five tele features. 
'Singham was hugely loved by the kids and a show like this will not only take the franchise ahead but will also become a source of entertainment for the kids and audiences who love 'Singham' so dearly,' Shetty said.
“Little Singham will set a completely new benchmark for animation in India. With Rohit also mentoring the animated series, we are confident of taking the Singham franchise to newer heights,' Shibasish Sarkar, Reliance Entertainment said.
“Little Singham, the original make in India super hero series is a very bold and at scale attempt by Discovery Kids. New Delhi, Jan 20: Actor-producer Ajay Devgn will be soon producing a Marathi film titled 'Aapla Manus', based on popular play called ‘Katkon Trikon’, trade sources said.
Nana Patekar will play the lead role in the film , which will have Satish Rajwade as its director.
Paresh Rawal had played the protagonist when the play was adapted in Gujarati and Hindi.
Speaking about the latest Marathi screen adaptation, Paresh praised Ajay Devgn for backing progressive and qualitative Marathi cinema despite being a Punjabi.
Paresh is also super excited about having Nana on board since he believes that the latter has a huge fan following in Marathi cinema. UNI


New Delhi, Jan 16: Rakul Preet, the actress known for her South India films, will next be seen romancing Ajay Devgn in Luv Ranjan's next contemporary romcom, trade sources said on Tuesday.
The film, a quirky take on contemporary urban relationships.
Rakul is said to play the role of a feisty and super confident urban girl.
The makers are keen on reviving the Tabu – Ajay Devgn chemistry from the 90s for their forthcoming film and hence the actress too will be seen romancing the leading man.
Luv Ranjan said Rakul fit the bill perfectly for this role in the film.
"It was her wonderful energy and her natural persona that prompted me to choose her to essay this character in the film. Also, co-producer Bhushan Kumar, head honcho of T-Series too is happy about Rakul Preet being a part of the film," Luv said.
Bhushan Kumar expressed his happiness over taking forward his long standing association with Luv Ranjan and Ajay Devgn with this film.
"I am glad about the fact that Rakul, who made her Bollywood debut with my wife Divya’s directorial debut 'Yaariyaan', will play such an important role in the upcoming movie," Bhushan said.
The movie is directed by Akiv Ali and is slated to go on floor during Dussehra this year, on October 19.
Rakul Preet is currently gearing up for the release of her upcoming thriller opposite Sidharth Malhotra 'Aiyaary' ,slated to release on February 9. UNI
