Mumbai, Aug 24: Kajol's "Helicopter Eela" has been pushed back by a month owing to the ill health of director Pradeep Sarkar.

The film, which also stars National Award winner Riddhi Sen, was earlier scheduled to release on September 7. It will now hit the theatres on October 12.

Sarkar was recently hospitalised after being diagnosed with dengue.

According to press release, Sarkar had taken a day's leave from hospital to shoot a scene with megastar Amitabh Bachchan for the film. An ambulance and a doctor was put on standby on the sets.

After completing the shoot, he went back to the hospital to continue his treatment.

Ajay Devgn, who has produced the feature alongside Jayantilal Gada, decided to shift the release date to October 12, the statement read.

The makers will wait for Sarkar's recover and resume work. (PTI)

Mumbai, Aug 20: Neha Dhupia, who stars with Kajol in "Helicopter Eela", says every time her co-actor appears on the screen, it comes alive.

The 37-year-old actor plays a drama instructor named Padma in the Pradeep Sarkar directorial. She said Kajol made acting appear like a "easy" job.

"I feel there are only a few people who are meant to be on screen and Kajol is definitely one such person. She lights up the screen when she is there.

"It wouldn't be fair if I say am not a fan of hers. There is nobody in the entire nation or anybody who follows Bollywood who is not a Kajol fan. She is phenomenal she is beautiful and she makes it look so easy on the screen," Neha said in a statement.

The film also stars Riddhi Sen and Tota Roy Chowdhury.

Mumbai, Aug 17: Women-oriented films are gaining momentum in Bollywood but Kajol says it would be restrictive as an actor to limit herself to just one genre.

"There are lots of films coming your way that are being written with a female central character in mind. It also has to do with whether you want to do that kind of film or not. I don't want to do only that kind of film. I want to do everything," she told in an interview.

"There is very little good content being written. I think it is the fact that there are not many good scripts that are coming to you. But generally there is not much good writing happening per se," she added.

After her last outing "Dilwale" in 2015, Kajol is excited about her forthcoming release "Helicopter Eela", in which she plays the role of a single mother.

The Pradeep Sarkar directed film addresses the issue of parenting and generation gap but Kajol says the film also talks about "who we are as women".

Being a mother, Kajol said, there were times when she missed out things individually as she was busy fulfilling her responsibility as a parent.

"We have parts of our personality that are subdued, lost, sacrificed along the way to be a wife, to be a mother. Two and three years after Nysa was born, I had not sat down and heard music for years because there was no time for it.

"I love my music. Nobody stopped me from it but it just happened. I got back to it later. We should get back to the things that we love as it will make us better as people, make us complete."

The 44-year-old actor is thankful to her mother Tanuja for giving her a childhood that prepared her to face life in a better way.

"My mother was very forward thinking. I don't think I have the guts to be like my mother. For her, life is meant to be looked at and not faced. We used to discuss everything, success, failure, charity, souls, death, etc ..nothing was taboo.

"She used to encourage us to talk, like, 'we are in a safe place and we can tell her anything that we want to and she will not hold it against us'. We did not understand it then but when certain situations came in life, I understood what my mother was preparing us for."

Kajol said she and husband Ajay Devgn try to follow a similar parenting style.

"Both Ajay and I believe in having open dialogue with our children. We talk to our kids a lot and keep telling them to express themselves."

The actor is confident that "Helicopter Eela", which releases on September 7, will connect with the audiences.

"...I know it is not going to be 'Avengers' but I would love it to be. A film has to be entertaining. The story is told in a humorous way, with big dollop of fun put into it and at the same time, there is content. We have achieved every goal that we had for making a good film."  (PTI)

Mumbai, Jun 9: Actor Kajol says she only gives her nod to a film if the script manages to hold her attention.
The 43-year-old actor, who was last seen in Dhanush's "VIP 2", said screen-time of a character is not important for her if it has "something amazing" to offer her as a performer. 
"I love reading. It is my passion, hobby and meditation. I believe a good script should be like one of those books that you read till 4 am and you know you have to get up at 7 am and go to work. It is a book that is unputdownable.
"And the character should be like that you build and make something amazing out of it. I don't think whether I am the main lead or have enough to do in the film or not, whether it's two scenes or half a scene to do, it should be of a kind that leaves a strong impact," Kajol said during a promotional event of "Incredibles 2".
The actor has voiced the character of Helen Parr aka Elastigirl in the Hindi-version of "Incredibles 2".
The 43-year-old actor said that even though she hates dubbing, the experience of voicing for the beloved superhero character was "exciting".
"I don't like dubbing for myself, it is the most painful and boring process. If you are dubbing for yourself then it is bad and if you are doing for somebody else then it is twice as worse. But at the end of it I was like it was great fun. To dub for Elastigirl was very exciting," Kajol said.
The actor wished that she had some superpowers in real life so as to manage everything, from the "me time" to giving attention to her kids and family.
"What I like most about these films is they are giving out the right message but in a humorous way. It is an intelligent film and it is meant for everybody. There is no age limit to it." 
"Incredibles 2", set to release on June 22, is the sequel to Disney-Pixar's 2004 animation blockbuster. (PTI)

New Delhi, Mar 8: He may have wowed film critics with his performances over the years, but Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn says his daughter Nysa is his biggest critic.
Talking to, Ajay, who will be soon seen in Rajkumar Gupta's 'Raid', said 'At my home, my daughter is my biggest critic, more than even my wife Kajol. She is totally frank about my movies and tells me what she really feels.'
Talking about the flick, which hits cinema screens worldwide on March 16, Ajay said it is a film about real events - a raid that was carried out in the 80s.
'When I heard the script, I was told that the story is based on real events, due to which I said yes to it. I really liked the story of the movie,' he said.
Asked about his character, he says, 'I play the character of Amey Patnaik, who is an income tax officer. This film revolves around a big raid that was carried out in the 80s.'
Asked if he had ever been raided by the income tax authorities, the actor said, 'Yes, once I was also raided. It was perhaps in 90s. I was not in the city, and was shooting somewhere for a movie. The raid went on for about two days but the officials did not find anything.'
Ajay is all praise for director of the film Rajkumar Gupta.
'He is a very simple person. However, he has done a lot of good work. Rajkumar Gupta 's sense of directiion is very good,'the actor said.
On the changes that he feels that have happened in the audience tastes over the years, Ajay said, ' I think one thing tbat has changed is the star system. Thing are no longer the same as they were before.
We were lucky that our fans were very loyal, and continue to support us. However, nowadays the viewers are very choosy about the movies they want to see. Today, the audience only watch those films in cinema halls that they really want to watch .'
Asked as to when can one expect the next films in the 'Singham'and 'Golmaal'series, Ajay said, 'I am sure the story of next edition of both films will be ready soon.
'Currently, we are just waiting for a good script. Work to come up with a good script is going on,' he added.

New Delhi, Jan 20: Bollywood actress Kajol is all set to return in an author backed role in Ajay Devgn’s forthcoming production, tentatively titled 'Ela', trade sources said . Kajol will be seen as the protagonist in this Pradeep Sarkar directorial, the shoot for which will kick off on January 24.
The film is a screen adaptation of the popular Gujarati play 'Beta Kagdo and will feature Kajol as a single mother to a son.
Kajol will essay the role of an aspiring singer, sources said.
In the film, Kajol will be seen to harbour dreams of becoming a singer since childhood. However, her dreams are crushed when she marries at a young age. Her marriage however is short-lived and while she discovers a whole new side to her whilst raising her son alone, she also reconnects with music during the same time.
'Ela' is co-produced by Ajay Devgn and Abhinav Shukla.
The movie is slated to hit the big screen in the second half of 2018. UNI

Kolkata, Nov 10: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is going to inaugurate the 23rd Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF) today at the Netaji Indoor Stadium.
KIFF 2017 will be inaugurated by Amitabh Bachchan. Shah Rukh Khan is the special guest, Mahesh Bhatt, Kamal Haasan and well-known British film director Michael Winterbottom are the distinguished guests, and Kajol and Kumar Sanu are the guests of honour. The festival proper is going to take place from November 11 to 17. Like every year, film-lovers are going to have a feast of the world’s best cinema. As the tagline for the festival goes, ‘Bengal Welcomes World Cinema’. 143 feature films, 87 short films and 51 documentary films from 53 countries are going to be featured. Film personalities (actors, directors, producers, etc.) from 20 countries will be attending the festival, whose films are being screened. There will be sections like Retrospectives, Centenary Tributes, and others. Among the films of Winterbottom that to be screened are Trishna, On the Road and Welcome to Sarajevo. Another attraction for film connoisseurs will be the screening of the famous French director, Jean-Luc Godard’s 1986 made-for-television film, Rise and Fall of Small Film Company, the first screening of the film in India after its restoration. This is being considered by film buffs to be a watershed moment for an Indian film festival. Other attractions for connoisseurs are the Satyajit Ray Memorial Lecture, seminars, interactive sessions, exhibitions and special adda sessions. The prestigious lecture will be delivered by Rachel Dwyer, a professor of Indian Cultures and Cinema at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London. Screening is taking place at 12 venues – Nandan 1, 2 and 3, Rabindra Sadan, Sisir Mancha, Navina Cinema, Star Theatre, Mitra Cinema, Inox at Salt Lake City Centre 1 Mall, Purbashree Auditorium at Salt Lake EZCC, Nazrul Tirtha and PVR Mani Square. At Ms Banerjee’s initiative, a few years back, KIFF was made a competitive film festival, with the Golden Royal Bengal Tiger award being given to the best film by a woman director and the best woman director.
