Jammu, Dec 11 (PTI) Jammu and Kashmir has received a total of Rs 900 crore under the Prime Minister's Development Package (PMDP) in multiple tranches for upgradation of healthcare infrastructure in the state, officials said Tuesday.

The first installment of Rs 275 crore under PMDP was released by the Government of India in 2016-17, followed by 2017-18 and 2018-19. 

The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has released the final tranche of Rs 110.74 crore under PMDP, they said. 

Welcoming the release of funds, Principal Secretary Health and Medical Education, Atal Dulloo said 145 ongoing and new health projects in the state have been identified for upgradation under PMDP. 

He said following the submission of the detailed project reports (DPRs) for these projects, the Government of India has released the requisite funds for completion of the works. 

Dulloo said the projects include augmentation of infrastructure in district hospitals, sub-district hospitals and primary health centres. 

Dulloo said the with the latest release of final installment of Rs 110.74 crore, the Health and Medical Education Department has become the first Department in the state to get the full allocation of Rs 900 crore under PMDP. 

He said the projects to be taken up under final installment of Rs 110.74 crore include 250-bed Maternity Block at SMGS Hospital Jammu, 100-bed New Emergency Block at GMC Jammu, Sub-District Hospital Bijbehara and Sub-District Hospital Rohama, Rafiabad.


Jammu, Sep 11 : Nineteen health institutes were found locked and 44 officials found absent from their duties during a surprise checking in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district, officials said Monday.

A spokesperson of the district administration said special teams constituted by District Development Commissioner Mohammad Aijaz Asad conducted inspection of various health institutions.

He said separate teams inspected 120 institutions including offices of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) besides the Rajouri District Hospital, he said.

The teams found 19 health institutes locked and the administration ordered the chief medical officer to submit a report and initiate strict disciplinary action against the staff as well as the monitoring authorities, the spokesman said.

Meanwhile, the inspection teams found out of 994 health staff in the local institutions, 758 were found present and 44 absent, he said.

The administration has decided to seek explanation from the CMO and BMOs whether they have followed the leave rules in sanctioning leave of such a large number of officials and employees.

The deputy commissioner said the surprise checking was to ensure punctuality and discipline to ensure best health care facilities to public.

He said action shall also be initiated against the authorities who have sanctioned leave in an irrational and casual manner.PTI

The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) rose by 11 points to 10,361.95. The sensex registered intra day high and low at 33,484.70 and 33,331.80 respectively. The Nifty recorded intra day high and low at 10,384.25 and 10,331.95. The sectoral indices improved on the strength of Finance, Health Care, IT and Industrials stocks. The gainers were Cipla by 3.84 pc to Rs 631.70, Sun Pharma by 2.43 pc to Rs 540.70, Asian Paints by 1.88 pc to Rs 1163.78 and Axis Bank by 1.66 pc to Rs 535.85. The losers were Bharti Airtel by 5.33 pc to Rs 486.95, SBIN by 1.01 pc to Rs 314, Reliance Industries by 0.91 pc to Rs 898.40 and ICICI Bank by 0.58 pc to Rs 310.40. UNI
