SRINAGAR, JULY 14: Sh. Imran Raza Ansari, MLA Pattan and former Minister, met Governor N.N. Vohra at the Raj Bhavan today.
 Sh. Ansari informed Governor about the problems relating to the implementation of certain major development projects in his Constituency and offered several suggestions about the measures necessary to streamline the higher education sector, including higher attention to skill development programmes and the promotion of sports, for the holistic development of youth. 
Governor urged Sh. Ansari to continue his efforts for promoting a peaceful environment in his area and work zealously for advancing the interests of J&K.

Youth should consider vocational education as mainstream career option: Ansari
LUCKNOW, MAY 31: Minister for Higher Education, Technical Education and Information Technology, Molvi Imran Raza Ansari on Thursday asked the participants at India Skills Regional Competition to give their best, saying that focusing on skills would ensure their better tomorrow.
20 youth from JK are participating India Skills Regional Competition at Lucknow to showcase their skills. The Minister while interacting with the participants said that government is mulling to strengthen ITI’s and other skill initiatives, which offer skills at a lower level.
Ansari said the Higher Education has been a challenge and the government is mulling that degrees being offered at graduation, Post Graduation and doctorate level be given some vocational orientation. Ansari congratulated the participants and hoped that they would bring laurels to the Jammu and Kashmir.
He said that it is high time that government start focusing on identifying the skilled youth and tame their energies to develop various sectors of the State. He said such events would make skill development aspirational and would motivate the youth to consider vocational education as a mainstream career option in a highly unemployed State of Jammu and Kashmir.
With an aim to promote international standards in nearly 40 skills among the youth of the country, National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) under the aegis of Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) is organizing India Skills Regional Competition here from May 31 to June 2.
Uttar Pradesh, Deputy Chief Minister, Dinesh Sharma, State Sports And Youth Affairs Minister, Chetan Chauhan and other senior state officials inaugurated the inauguration ceremony of the three-day event hereon Thursday.
The competition is designed to showcase the highest standards of skills in India. More than 200 contestants from the states of Jammu & Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Chandigarh will participate in this 3-day competition across 24 trades/categories.
The event began with a grand inauguration ceremony, followed by skill competitions and exhibition on subsequent days. Winners will be announced at the closing ceremony on June 2. The winners from the regional competition will get a chance to compete at the National Skills Competition scheduled in New Delhi from July 15 to June18.
Commenting on the initiative, Jayant Krishna, ED and COO, NSDC said, “The IndiaSkills Competition promotes excellence in skills and competency development. It’s a platform for the youth of the country to showcase their talent and aims to exhibit the country’s training excellence; thereby encourage world-class skilling standards.
The participants for the IndiaSkills Regional Competitions have been selected post a rigorous process at the district and state level organized by 20 states. The winners from each states will compete in four regional competitions scheduled in Jaipur - West (May 24-26), Lucknow - North (May 31- June 2), Bhubaneswar – East (July 6-8) and Bangalore – South (July 15-17).
In 2017, with one silver medal, one bronze medal and 9 Medallions of Excellence, India ranked 19 among 56 countries participating at the WorldSkills Competition in Abu Dhabi. More than 1,300 competitors competed in 51 skills/trades at the event. The next WorldSkills Competition is scheduled at Kazan, Russia in August 2019.
At least 20 young skilled youth from Jammu and Kashmir have been selected for regional level India Skill Competition 2018. The participating candidates are competing at the national level skill competition which will be held in July, 2018, leading to their participation in the World Skills Competition-Russia, 2019.
Mission Director, Jammu and Kashmir Skill Mission, Dr Peer Ghulam Nabi Suhail informed that said candidates qualifying the regionals will qualify for the national level competition leading to World Skills Competition-Russia, 2019. He said that apart from J&K, the states including Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Chandigarh and Punjab will be participating in the regional level skill competition.
The Mission Director along with other officers are camped in Lucknow to give moral boosting to the participants of the event.
Pertinently in order to aim at engaging different stakeholders in skill building, entrepreneurship and grassroots innovations, the government recently held a two-day skill and entrepreneurship conclave, first-of-its-kind event in the state. The maiden conclave TALAASH was themed as “Building Human Capital: Skill-Innovation-Entrepreneurship". 
He lauded the role of Jammu and Kashmir Skill Development Mission for launching hunt to spot young talent and identify the skilled youth and work for their further improvement.

Conduct debates, develop communication skills of students: Ansari
SRINAGAR, MAY 26: Minister for Higher Education, Technical Education and Information Technology, Molvi Imran Raza Ansari today paid a surprise visit to Government Women College, MA Road, Srinagar.
The purpose of the visit was to interact with the students and know the ground realities and problems, if any, being faced by them. The Principal of the college, Prof Shaheen Altaf appraised him about the functioning of the college.
The students during their interaction with the Minister raised various issues. The Minister directed the Principal to resolve them at the earliest. He also assured the students that their issues regarding accommodation, cleanliness, sanitation and water supply would be taken up by the concerned departments.
The Minister was told that the buildings of administrative block and some academic departments need to be refurbished to which Minister assured all possible help.
As part of extra-curricular activities the Minister directed the college authorities to conduct debates on latest issues for development of general knowledge and communication skills among students. He said that the future prospect of a student increases manifold with better communication skills and focus needs to be given on enhancing this capability.

‘Boosting skills will empower economy’
          SRINAGAR, MAY 26: Minister for Higher Education, Technical Education and Information Technology, Molvi Imran Raza Ansari, today said that government was preparing the ground to revolutionise the young human resource in keeping view with the global market and an increasing demand for skill expertise.  
          Speaking to a team of candidates from Jammu and Kashmir participating in the regional level skills competition in Lucknow from 31st May to 2nd June 2018 under World Skills India, the Minister said for companies to succeed, they need employees with practical skills and technical knowledge geared to the evolving the skilled landscape.
          The Minister flagged off the candidates for their participation at the regional level skill competition. The participating candidates will further compete at the national level skill competition which will be held in July 2018, leading to their participation in the World Skills Competition-Russia, 2019.
          World Skills India initiative has been leading the country's participation at World Skills International competitions since 2011 and is responsible for the selection, development, management and participation of Team India in World Skills International Competitions.
          “We are taking all the efforts to reach out and spot the young entrepreneurs and skilled people and give them further training to master their trade,” he said, adding “over the period of last 4 months, we have carried out rigorous mobilization and publicity campaigns pertaining to the skill competition and also collaborated with prestigious institutions of the State.”
          Ansari said more skill competitions would be held across the State to hunt for young minds so as to hone their skills.
          He expressed satisfaction over the functioning of the Jammu and Kashmir Skill Development Mission, saying that the Directorate achieved remarkable milestones in a very short span of time. He lauded the Mission Director, JKSDM, Dr Peer Ghulam Nabi Suhail, for successfully organising the first ever Skill Conclave – Talaash in summer capital Srinagar.

Our candidates have huge potential to shine: Ansari
SRINAGAR, MAY 26:  In a first Minister for Higher Education, Technical Education and Information Technology, Molvi Imran Raza Ansari today flagged off JK contingent for their participation at regional level skills competition to be held at Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh from 31st May to 2nd June, 2018 under World Skills India, which is an initiative of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India.
While interacting with the candidates in the contingent, the Minister said, “it is very heartening to see that our youth are participating in the regional skill competition and I am hopeful that the contestants will perform well and bring laurels to the state.”
          “Our youth are capable and full of potential. I am hopeful that they will come out with flying colours at the regional level competition,” he said.
The contingent of skilled candidates will further compete at the national level skill competition which will be held in July, 2018, leading to their participation in the World Skills Competition-Russia, 2019.
          Jammu and Kashmir Skill Development Mission (JKSDM) received more than 700 registrations for the initial cluster/base level competition and successful candidates from the base level competitions were further groomed at various reputed institutes across the state for participation in the state level competition.
          The J&K contingent for Lucknow regional skill competition comprises of the winners and runner-up candidates of the state level skill competitions which were held between 25th April to 5th May 2018 in Srinagar and Jammu. In total, 20 contestants will be participating in the already 12 shortlisted skills at the regional level competition which also includes two wild-card entries (contestant) in Mobile Robotics and 1 entry in skill set Bakery.
          Mission Director, JKSDM, Dr Peer GN Suhail said, “JKSDM has provided rigorous training to the candidates in and outside the State in order to prepare them for regional competition,” he said.
          JKSDM, over the period of last 4 months carried out rigorous mobilization and publicity campaigns pertaining to the skill competition and also collaborated with prestigious institutions such as NIT- Srinagar, IHM -Srinagar, Central University, Jammu, NIELIT, SSMD-Baramulla , Arena Animation & Rahim Motors to provide training and guidance to selected candidates for the different levels of skill competition.

SRINAGAR, MAY 26: Sh. Imran Raza Ansari, Minister for Information Technology, Technical Education and Higher Education, called on Governor N.N. Vohra at the Raj Bhavan today.
Sh. Ansari discussed with Governor several major issues relating to the management of the higher education sector particularly the functioning of the University of Kashmir and some matters relating to Jammu University.
Governor re-iterated concern regarding the crucial responsibility of the Higher Education Department to ensure the provision of quality educational facilities for students at all levels, as only such advancement could promote the future growth and development of the state.
Governor advised the Minister to ensure initiation of the required measures to give impetus to the organization of sustained sports activities in all the colleges and universities in the State.

JAMMU, APRIL 04: Minister for Information Technology, Technical Education, Youth Services and Sports, Molvi Imran Raza Ansari today said that the focus of present dispensation is to maintain existing sports infra, especially play fields and develop new ones, besides promoting variety in sporting activities among youth in the state.
Ansari said this while reviewing the progress on construction of Basohli stadium being developed to provide infrastructure to sports aspirants in the area besides assessing progress on development of water sports infrastructure at Ranjit Sagar Dam under PMDP.
Minister for Forest, Ecology and Environment, Choudhary Lal Singh, besides Commissioner Secretary, Technical Education and YSS, Hilal Ahmad Parray, DG YSS, SheikhFayaz Ahmad and representatives of J&K Sports Council were present on the occasion.
Ansari directed the officers to work in a coordinated manner to expedite the developmental work on Basohli stadium and to issue tender at earliest for landfilling and chain link fencing of the stadium.
It was informed in the meeting that work on the Basohli ground is being executed at a fast pace and the stadium will soon be thrown open for sports lovers of the area.
For creation of office block, food court, conference hall, change rooms and other procurements at the Stadium, the Minister directed the concerned officers to make a team to visit the site and identify place for developing these facilities. He further directed for preparing DPR for the stadium at the earliest to avoid any delays in the project.
The Minister was informed that work is apace on the identified water spaces and the work is going on swiftly and the same will be thrown open soon for water sports lovers.
To meet the demands of sports aspirants in the state, Choudhary Lal Singh said that besides other sports activities in the state, the government is committed to providing maximum sports facilities to young people of the state and directed officers to expeditiously finish all the executing projects in the state.

SRINAGAR, JANUARY 20: Minister for Youth Services and Sports, Imran Raza Ansari and Minister for Rural Development, Abdul Haq today inaugurated a Gym at Rajbagh here.
The Gym is first of its kind in the state with professionally designed equipments and all advanced fitness programmes. The Ministers interacted with the members of fitness centre who apprised the Ministers about various facilities available for the people in the centre.
The Ministers asked the younger generation to make exercise an important part of their daily schedule. They congratulated the Management and team of the fitness centre for spearheading the health and fitness initiative and providing the gift of healthy living to the people.
The Ministers urged the management to assist the youth to raise their fitness level by focussing on each individual’s specific needs.
The Ministers appreciated the efforts of Gym management in investing Rs 6.50 crore on the purchase of high-end equipment.
The Ministers were informed that Gym aims to provide best in class equipment and expertise of qualified instructors.
Speaking on the occasion, the director of the Gym thanked the Ministers for his encouragement to the management. He said the Gym aspires to be the beacon of healthy living and mascot of fitness in the state.

House passes Grants of IT, Technical Education, YSS

25000 skilled manpower being produced by ITIs, Polytechnics annually, 47000 to be trained under JKSSDM; 2.463 lakh youth participated in domestic sports activities
JAMMU, JANUARY 19: The Minister for Information Technology, Technical Education, Youth Services and Sports, Imran Raza Ansari today said that education, skill building and sports are the core means for empowering youth and the State government is making targeted efforts to empower youth by way of imparting them with requisite proficiency to achieve this objective.
 The Minister said this while replying to the Discussion on Demand for Grants of Technical Education, Information Technology, Youth Services and Sports and allied Departments in the Legislative Assembly, here today.
“All interventions that are being made, whether it is Sports, Skill Development, Technical Education or Information Technology, are aimed at youth welfare by facilitating skill development, encouraging entrepreneurship besides promoting sports and cultural exchanges”, the Minister said.
The Minister informed that the network of ITIs and Polytechnics in the State are witnessing 100% admissions while as ITIs have seen 97% admissions in the state and are producing skilled manpower of about 25,000 persons annually. He informed that 78 new job-oriented trade units have been introduced in ITIs on self-financing basis, besides new Polytechnics have been established in Samba, Kathua, Reasi, Ganderbal, Anantnag,  and polytechnics in Doda, Kishtwar and Udhampur will be made functional soon
In a mega recruitment drive conducted at Auqaf-Islamiy at Samba,   250 trainees were selected for 13 national/multinational companies.
The Minister informed that the government has established smart classrooms in K G Polytechnic Srinagar, Govt. Polytechnic Jammu and Govt. ITI Pattan, besides approving establishment of Incubation cum Placement center for training of pass-out students to enhance their employability and improve their entrepreneurial skills.
Enumerating achievements of Jammu Kashmir State Board of Technical Education (JKSBOTE), the Minister said result of 6th semester regular students May-June 2017 session was declared within 48 hours after the conclusion of examination process.
The Minister also informed that for promotion of Youth Services and Sports (YSS), the state government has taken various path-breaking steps to create world class sports facilities for the youth.
The Minister informed that several competitions were held in the State that saw participation from 85,955 players from Jammu and 1,38,540 from Kashmir, besides  1,878 players participated in National School Games hosted by J&K.
“The Department also hosted 62nd and 63rd National School Games, besides awarding sports scholarship worth Rs 27.65 lakh to 1,208 players who won medals in 62nd National School Games”, the Minister said.
The Minister further informed that the department is organizing football tournaments in 199 zones under “Let’s Play” co-branding with ‘Khelo India’ programme in which 54,702 youth have registered online for their participation in the said tournaments.
To increase the reach of sports, YSS has started construction of new campus for College of Physical Education Teacher at Gadoora, Ganderbal at the cost of Rs 30.39 crore and would take up the execution of Phase II costing Rs 43.533 crore during 2018-19, the Minister said.
Further, 109 development works for improvement of sports infra in the state are being undertaken to the estimated cost Rs. 223 lakh.
 “The Department is mulling to construct Volleyball Court in each district of the state at the aggregate cost of Rs. 176 lakh”, he added.
Additionally, projects for construction of 22 Indoor Sports Stadiums, one in each district, under PMDP are also being finalized and would be constructed soon.
He informed that the department has engaged 124 Physical Education Teachers through SSB and would engage 3,000 ‘Rehbar-e-Khels’ in the near future.
The Minister said that for further development of Sports culture in the state, State Sports Council engaged noted sports personalities including ace cricketers Parvez Rasool and Abdi Nabi, footballer Mehraj-ud-din Wadoo and noted gymnast Mitali Dogra to further boost and allure more sports enthusiasts.
        Also, the Council awarded Rs 5 lakh to shooter Chain Singh for winning six gold medals at 2016 South Asian Games, besides providing special sports trainings to 200 budding sportspersons at prestigious National Institute of Sports.
        State Sports Council has also trained more than 24,000 young boys and girls in the field of self-defence, he added.
The government has also opened football academies in every district in which international sportspersons including Mehraj-ud-Din Wadoo, Ishfaq and Saajid are imparting training to the budding players. More than 40 coaching camps were held during 2017 for football training under different age groups, the Minister informed.
More than 89,612 players participated in various sports tournaments organized by the State Cricket Academy in all the districts.
With an initiative to encourage women in sports, the academy organized its first T20 Women’s Cricket Championship and Chief Ministers Women’s XI team later on also participated in Indian Women’s League, he informed.
The Minister said that Jammu and Kashmir State Skill Development Mission (JKSSDM) was created in September, 2017 with a mandate to integrate skill development programmes, providing trainings to semi-skilled and unskilled youth, connecting them with the job providers, besides implementing and monitoring the policies and programmes under NSDM and SSDM.  
Under the mission, 47,000 youth will be trained in different crafts in next three years, he informed.
“JKSDM headed by Chief Minister has also launched State Engagement Component of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) 2.0 in which 47,302 persons would be trained till 2019-20 and a target for the current financial year has been kept at 14,900”, he said.
A micro level skill gap analysis is also being conducted to provide a roadmap for skill development in the state.
Later, the House passed the grants amounting to Rs 70044.41 lakhs to defray the charges which will come in course of payment during the year ending 31st March, 2019 for Technical Education, Sports & Youth Services and Departments with a voice vote.
Earlier, legislators including Syed Farooq Andrabi, Bashir Ahmad Dar, Ravinder Raina, Satpaul Sharma and Anjum Fazili took part in the discussion and gave suggestions for strengthening the department.
