JAMMU, JULY 07: The Integrated Counselling and Testing centre, a diagnostic laboratory for HIV/AIDS has been formally accredited by National accreditation Board for Testing and calibration of Laboratories (NABL), an agency for certification of the Testing done in the laboratories, nationwide.
This ICTC at GMC, Jammu is being technically run by the department of Microbiology, with its head Dr. Bella Mahajan as the Director of the lab. The working is supported by the JKSACS (NACO) and the authorities of GMC, Jammu.
The Director gave full credit for the achievements to the faculty and Technical staff of the facility (ICTC) adding they had been working hard for this achievements under dynamic leadership of Principal & Dean, Government Medical College, Jammu Dr. Sunanda Raina.

 SRINAGAR, MAY 27: Minister for Health & Medical Education, Dr Davinder Kumar Manyal today paid a surprise inspection visit to JLNM Hospital, Rainawari. The surprise check was conducted to review the healthcare facilities being provided at the hospital.
The Minister inspected various sections of the hospital & interacted with OPD & IPD patients and their attendants. He took keen interest in the functioning and health care delivery of casualty & gynecology section of the hospital.
He sought from the patients whether the services provided by the government are being given to them as per the laid norms. The Minister while taking stock of the status of dialysis centre at JLNM, emphasized the Hospital Administration for its speedy completion. He further said that the aim of the government is to provide hassle-free treatment facilities to the patients in the Government health institutions. He also directed the medicos and paramedics to remain present in the hospital as per duty roaster and provide round the clock healthcare facilities to the people.
The Minister was accompanied by Director General Health Services Kashmir, Dr Saleem ur Rehman and Project Director JKSACS, Dr Mushtaq Pathan. The Director General apprised the Minister about the level of health care services in terms of various specialties being provided to the patients. The Minister expressed satisfaction about the work and conduct of the Hospital. 
Later the Minister took detailed review of Shri Amarnathji Yatra 2018 where in the Director General briefed him about the ongoing arrangements. The Minister laid stress for providing all necessary health care facilities to the pilgrims which is going to commence from 28th July.


SRINAGAR, MAY 10: Minister for Health & Medical Education Dr. Devinder Kumar Manyal today chaired maiden review meeting of health sector in Kashmir Division at Banquet Hall, Srinagar.
The meeting was attended by Minister of State for Health & Medical Education Asiea Naqash, Principal Secretary, Health & Medical Education, Dr Pawan Kotwal, Commissioner Food Safety, Dr. Abdul Kabir Dar, Director General Health Services, Kashmir Dr Saleem-ur-Rehman, Mission Director NHM, Directors of Family Welfare, JKSACS, ISM, Deputy Directors, Chief Medical Officers, Medical Superintendents of District & Sub District Hospitals, Nodal Officers of various schemes & other officers of Directorate of Health Services, Kashmir.
The Minister appreciated the work done and milestones achieved by Directorate of Health Services, Kashmir and directed the officers to put in additional efforts to improve the health care service system in the state.
He assured officers of the Directorate of all possible cooperation in achieving the goals of improved healthcare facilities and also assured to resolve long pending demands of the employees working in the department.
Minister of State for H&ME Asiea Naqash in her address said that a lot of development has taken place in health sector during the last three years and these efforts need to be intensified for better health care. She said the government is committed to provide better healthcare facilities to the people at affordable price and urged the officials to work with extra zeal for the welfare of the common masses.
On the occasion Principal Secretary, Health & Medical Education Dr Pawan Kotwal briefed the ministers about the pertinent issues which need to be prioritized and stressed upon the district level officers to work in a time bound manner to complete the on-going projects and programmes of the Govt.
The DG Health Services, Kashmir Dr Saleem-ur-Rehman in his presentation gave a comprehensive overview of the functioning of department.
Project Director AIDS Dr Mushtaq Pathan, MD NHM, Dr Yashpal Sharma, Director Family Welfare, Dr Samir Mattoo, Director ISM Neeraj Kumar in their presentations briefed the Minister about various health care activities conducted and targets achieved by the department.


JAMMU, JUNE 14: Minister for Health and Medical Education, Bali Bhagat today called upon the youth to voluntarily donate blood to save lives and become part of the noble service to mankind.
The Minister was speaking at a programme organised to mark World Blood Donors Day. The function was organized by Jammu and Kashmir State AIDS Control Society (JKSACS) and PG Department of Blood Transfusion Medicine GMC, Jammu in collaboration with Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu.
Principal and Dean, GMC Dr. Sunanda Raina, Project Director, JKSACS Dr. Mushtaq Ahmed Rather, Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu  RC Puri, Associate Professor and Incharge, Blood Bank, SMGS Hospital Dr. Meena Sidhu, doctors, faculty members, students, volunteers and representatives of social organizations were present on the occasion.
 “We must express gratitude to all those who donate blood voluntarily and play their role in saving the ailing mankind the Minister said.
Stressing for being part of the noble cause, the Minister said that when a patient needs blood, he doesnt prefers for a volunteer from a particular community, caste, sex or status. This makes blood donation a unique service to the mankind, he asserted.
 “It is a service that can strengthen bonds among communities. There is a need to spread the message of blood donation   in community congregations, social functions and by organizing awareness camps on regular intervals, he added.

Later, the Minister felicitated regular blood donors and social organisations that hold blood donation camps frequently.
