Kota, Oct 8: Two people were killed when their motorcycle collided with stray cattle at NH-27, police said Monday.
The accident occurred on Sunday evening near Jhalipura village which comes under the jurisdiction of Kaithun police station.
The two were rushed to MBS Hospital, where they were declared brought dead.
The deceased persons were identified as Dilip Meghwal (30) and Rameshchand Nayak (45), both residents of Kacholiya village, said Sugan Singh, the SHO of Kaithun police station.
The bodies were later handed over to family members after postmortem, the SHO said. (PTI)
Kota (Rajasthan), Sep 8: Two girls were killed and four of their relatives injured when the roof of their house collapsed in rain-hit Baran district in the early hours Saturday, police said.
Police said the incident took place in Kunwarpura village in the Kawai police station area at around 3 am.
They said the walls of the house had weakened over time due to seepage of rainwater from the adjoining agriculture fields. The roof of the house fell on the asleep family members.
Laxmi Bairagi (10) and her sister Pinki (15), who had come to their relatives' house from Jhalawar district, were killed in the incident.
Four others suffered injuries and are undergoing treatment at the government hospital in Baran, Station House Officer, Kawai police station, Dalveer Singh Fojdaar said.
The region has been receiving moderate to heavy rain fall since last evening and rivers are in spate, he added. (PTI)
Kota (Raj), Jul 28: A man was killed and three others, including two of his family members, suffered severe injuries after their car rammed into a truck from behind on NH-27 near Gadepan plant in Rajasthan's Kota district, police said today.
The accident took place last night under Simliya police station limits when the three members of a family were on the way to their home in Deoli town of Tonk district, they said.
Paras Jain (45), a resident of Deoli in Tonk district died in the accident while two of his family members -- Uttam Chand Jain and Chetan Jain -- and the car driver Harlal Meena were injured, Simliya SHO Prahalad Singh said.
The injured are undergoing medical treatment at a hospital in Kota city while the body was handed over to the family members this afternoon after postmortem, he said.
The truck driver suddenly slowed down his vehicle but the car driver could not control the speed of his vehicle due to which it rammed into the truck, the SHO said.
A case of negligent driving was registered against the truck driver who has been detained and his vehicle seized, Singh said. (PTI)
Kota (Rajasthan), Jun 12: A 47-year-old former BJP municipal councilor committed suicide after reportedly having a quarrel with her son, police said today.
Mamta Verma used a saree to hang herself from the iron angle of a ventilation window at her Matunda Road home yesterday, SHO at Bundi Sadar police station Anil Joshi said.
The reason behind the suicide is yet to be ascertained as no suicide note was recovered from the room, Joshi added.
Prima facie, the woman is most likely to have taken the extreme step due to an argument with her son who is a sitting BJP councilor from Bundi, police said.
According to a family friend, the mother and son had a squabble last night over a family issue following which Verma ended her life.
Her body was handed over to the family members today after a postmortem was conducted, police said.
Believed to be a bold and aggressive lady, Verma stayed with her two sons, while her husband works in Bhilwara district.
An investigation has been launched into her death, police added. (PTI)
