Munger, Sep 11: Four minor girls drowned while taking bath in a water body in Bihar's Munger district Tuesday, an official said.

Confirming the death of four girls, Kharagpur Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO), Sanjiv Kumar said the deceased have been identified as Anuradha Kumari, Arti Kumar, Priya Kumar and Ritu Kumari.

The girls residents of Bhadura village and aged between 8-11 years had gone to take a bath in a water body (chaur) and slipped into deep water and met their watery grave, the SDO said, adding that bodies have been fished out with the help of villagers.

The bodies have been sent to Munger sadar hospital for post-mortem, he said while announcing that Rs 3 lakh will be given to each of the deceased's family after the post-mortem. (PTI)

Kohima, May 11: Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast of inclement weather prevailing over the North East Region.
The IMD forecast stated that “thunderstorm accompanied with gusty winds” would likely prevail over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.
As per the IMD forecast, the rains would subside during the intervening period in the North East with storm clouds concentrating in isolated pockets over the coastal south and the northern regions of the country.
Meanwhile, the power supply to Mon and Longleng and parts of Mokokchung of Nagaland remained cut off following the rainstorm on Wednesday last.
The SDO (Transmission) of Mokokchung Transmission Division, in a press release informed that the inclement weather affected the 66KV Mokokchung-Tuli-Naginimora-Tizit transmission line cutting supply to entire Mon and Longleng districts and also Changtongya and Tuli.
“The Department is making all efforts to restore power supply at the earliest. Affected consumers are requested to kindly bear with the inconvenience,” the release said. UNI

Baruipur, Apr 9: A police officer sustained bullet injury at Mograhat in South 24 Parganas, today as violence continued unabated across West Bengal even on the last date of the submission of the panchayat polls nomination papers.
Two women were also manhandled, in separate incidents, when they went to file their nomination papers for the upcoming panchayat polls.
Sub-inspector of Uo sti police station, Rafique Jamal sustained a bullet injury on his left hand during a clash between the ruling TMC supporters and opponents parties over submission of the nomination papers, near the SDO office at Mograhat.
The police officer was taken to a local hospital.
A woman accompanying her father, for filing nomination paper, was badly beaten up by a youth, who also kicked her while she was falling on the road. Her father was filing nomination papers to contest elections as a BJP candidate.
Following the violence, her father returned home without filing the nomination papers. The TMC leadership has, however, denied their involvement in the manhandling.
A CPI(M) woman candidate was also manhandled while she went to file nomination papers in Burdwan. UNI
