JAMMU, APRIL 04: Sh. Sajad Gani Lone, Minister for Social Welfare, ARI & Trainings and Science & Technology, called on Governor N.N. Vohra at the Raj Bhavan.
Sh. Lone discussed with the Governor about the various important initiatives taken by the departments and agencies under his charge and the current implementation status of the various Central and State schemes in the social welfare sector.
Governor discussed with Sh. Lone several serious problems faced by disabled persons and stressed the high importance which requires to be devoted to the effective management of the entire Disability sector in the State.

 JAMMU, JANUARY 16 – Minister for Social Welfare, ARI & Trainings and Science & Technology Sajad Gani Lone informed the House that the cash assistance under State Marriage Assistance Scheme (SMAS) is being credited directly into the individual bank accounts of the beneficiaries.
Replying to a question of Saif-ud-Din Bhat, the Minister informed that the beneficiaries are required to apply at the concerned District Social Welfare Office (DSWO) along with the required documents to take benefit of the scheme.
 Giving details, he informed that the DSWO submits the cases to the District Level Sanctioning Committee and it clears the cases in the light of eligibility criteria. He said the list is finally submitted to Administrative Department. HGe however said that the government has asked the District Level Sanctioning Committee/Administrative Department to settle the cases in a time bound manner as per the availability of funds, he added.
          He further informed that there are more than two lakh old age, handicap and widow pension cases pending in the state including 1,53,699 under Integrated Social Security Scheme and 1,13,991 under National Social Assistance Programme.

          Related to the issue of rising pendency in the number of cases, the Minister said that the state receives a fixed amount from Centre as the scheme is not demand driven and new cases are included only after vacancy arises in the existing numbers.

Stresses timely completion of works, implementation of decisions

 JAMMU, DECEMBER 23: Minister for Social Welfare, Science & Technology, ARI and Trainings, Sajad Gani Lone on Saturday chaired a meeting to review the progress on implementation of decisions taken in previous District Development Board (DDB) meeting of Doda.
Union Minister of State in PMO Dr Jitendra Singh, Chairperson for J&K Social Welfare Board, Nirmal Gupta, Vice Chairperson J&K State Advisory Board for Welfare and Development of OBC, Rashpaul Verma, Vice Chairperson of J&K State Advisory Board for Pahari Speaking People, Kuldeep Raj Guta, Vice Chairperson J&K State Advisory Board for Welfare & Development of Scheduled Castes, Bushan Lal Dogra, Legislators, G.M Saroori, Shakti Raj Parihar, Daleep Singh Parihar, Neelam Kumar Langeh, Naresh Kumar Gupta, Shyam Lal Bhagat, Firdous Ahmad Tak,  District Development Commissioner Doda, Bhawani Rakhwal and Heads of concerned Departments were present in the meeting.
While stressing on cent percent utilization of the funds available under various schemes for district Doda, the Minister impressed upon all the Heads of the Departments and sectoral officers present in the meeting to ensure implementation of all the DDB decisions in letter and spirit and also ensure timely completion of all ongoing developmental projects. 
He also directed the officials to focus on skill enhancements for which the facilities need to be developed in tune with global standards.
Lone also took a detailed review of various other mega projects in Doda such as Ganpat Bridge, Steel Girder Bridge over River Chenab, WSS Doda Town and directed the concerned executing agencies to stick to the timelines fixed for completion of these mega projects.
Addressing the meeting, Dr Jitendra Singh said the Centre under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi is committed for the development of the State of Jammu and Kashmir. He assured the meeting that every possible help will be provided to the State, however, he asked the concerned to be proactive and pursue the projects submitted by the concerned Departments under different sectors to the Central Government for their accord of sanctioning.
          Legislators, G M Saroori, Shakti Raj Parihar, Daleep Singh Parihar, Neelam Kumar Langeh, Naresh Kumar Gupta, Shyam Lal Bhagat and Firdous Ahmad Tak projected various demands of their respective areas and sought early redressal.
The Chairman of the DDB Doda took serious note of non-implementation of some DDB decisions including posting of Radiologist in District Hospital Doda and asked the district administration to work with utmost dedication and complete the fixed targets well in time.
Earlier, District Development Commissioner, Doda presented a detailed report of the physical and financial progress achieved under District Plan, State plan, Centrally Sponsored Schemes and Mega projects in the District. He said that out of an approved outlay of Rs 172.13 crore, an amount of Rs.  117.02 crore was made available and the expenditure ending November this year is Rs 85.89 crore, registering an expenditure of 73.40 percent.
          He also presented the detailed report of DDB decisions which have been implemented in the district besides those which are under execution under different sectors in the district.
          Giving details about financial achievements registered under National Health Mission (NHM) during 2017-18, it was informed in the meeting that 80.79 percent expenditure were incurred on Base Flexi pool, Mission Flexi pool and Immunization activities till ending November 2017.

          Under Education sector, it was informed in the meeting that 57753 text books were supplied to the students of 1st & 2nd class/3rd to 8th against the target of 57753. It was also informed in the meeting that against the target of 28 construction, up-gradation, repairs of school building, renovation of high and higher school buildings, 2 were achieved so far and the construction work on rest of other are apace.

Sh. Lone discussed with the Governor about the various important initiatives taken by him in the departments and agencies under his charge and the current implementation status of the various Central and State schemes in the entire social welfare sector.

Governor and Minister discussed certain serious problems relating to the entire disability sector and the difficulties faced by women, children, pensioners and senior citizens. Sh. Lone would be reviewing all problems relating to the disability sector and these would be discussed in an early structured meeting involving all concerned officers.

DPS organizes annual IT event ‘Techknow’

          SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 12: Minister for Science Technology, ARI Trainings and Social Welfare, Sajad Gani Lone today asked the students to keep pace with the new technological innovations happening in the world.
          The Minister was speaking at an annual IT event “Techknow” organized by Cyber Crew, IT Club of Delhi Public School, Athwajan, Srinagar.
          Secretary School Education Farooq Ahmad Shah, Director Information and Public Relations JK, Muneer-ul-Islam and Chairman, Delhi Public School, Vijay Dhar were present on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Lone said IT has made unprecedented advances that can help us to expand our knowledge, adding such events provide a clear view of opportunities and challenges of an increasingly connected world to students.
          The Minster said that Science Technology is having an enormous influence on global economy, adding that the latest innovations have revolutionized the nature of human interaction and have become mover for services. Information Technology and Science Technology are becoming the most important drivers of the global economy.
“Technology is like a coin which has both positive and negative sides” said the Minister. “We have option to decide for how to use it.”
 He said if we use it for positive things, it will have positive effect on our lives and vice versa. The Minister said that nobody would oppose the development of technologies in any sector, but the developments should be in a positive way having no negative impact on present or future generations.
Sajad Lone also appreciated the school management, staff and students for their achievements and said private schools including Delhi Public School are playing an incredible role in providing quality education to the students of Valley. He said private schools supplementing Government schools are doing a great service towards the cause of society. He said schools are revered as sacred places in our society as they shape the future of a nation and impart quality education to students must be our prime concern.
          Addressing the gathering the Secretary Education Farooq Ahmad Shah said that latest research in computer science is not limited to business, gadget, IT, space, and education, but it also means better health, more knowledge and more power.
          Speaking on the occasion the Director Information and Public Relations, Muneer-ul-Islam lauded the role of the school for organizing the event. He said such events imbibe quality education among the young minds.         
The Director called upon the students to build confidence among themselves, and said that science and technology enables people to live in an easy and modern way of life which has opened the doors of new opportunities and allows people to enter into a new world which is fully developed and well civilized.
He informed that the DIPR is organizing a 15-day workshop in cinematography at the auditorium of the office in October this year. He asked the management of the school to send the aspiring students for participation in the workshop.
          Later Chairman, Delhi Public School Vijay Dhar speaking on the occasion said that the institution will offer short term and long term courses in Information and Science Technology to the students of government schools also. He asked the government functionaries to depute the students especially from far flung areas to Delhi Public School for technology courses for which the institution will provide all facilities to them.
          Earlier, the Minister also visited the Visually Impaired Centre set up for the disabled students in the Computer Museum. The Minister interacted with the visually impaired students of the school. He hailed the management of the school for providing such facilities for the visually impaired. The Minister was apprised that the School management is offering 6 months course for visually impaired.

          Latter, the Minister distributed certificates among the co-partners including  HK Cements, Sharp Sight Group of Hospitals, Rising Kashmir Newspaper, 92.7 Big FM and the students of Cyber Crew of the School.
