SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 04:  The first Sports Festival of the Cluster University Srinagar (CUS) was inaugurated by the Vice-chancellor Prof. Dr. Sheikh Javid Ahmed, at Government College for Women M. A. Road, Srinagar.
The festival shall run for five days and culminate with the Prize Distribution Ceremony scheduled for October 10, 2017, at Government College for Women, M. A. Road, Srinagar.
Both Girls and Boys teams from the five Constituent Colleges of the University are fighting for honors in games including Cricket, Football, Volley Ball, Table Tennis, Kho-Kho, Kabbadi and Tug of War.
The University has decided to felicitate award winning as well as to runners-up teams of all games and certificates of participation also distributed among the students representing their Colleges in various games.
On an inaugural day, competitions in Cricket, Football, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Volleyball, Table Tennis, Badminton were conducted.

The Cluster University Srinagar has been established in the year 2016 with the financial assistance of the Centrally Sponsored Scheme of RUSA of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India and has started to function from March 2017. The University has its five Constituent Colleges like S. P. College, Amar Singh College, Government College for Women M. A. Road, Abdul Ahad Azad Memorial Degree College Bemina and Institute of Advanced Studies in Education M. A. Road, Srinagar.


SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 20: Cluster University Srinagar is organizing its first Sports Festival from October 4 to October 10 2017.
Officials said five teams from the Constituent Colleges of the Cluster University will be participating in a variety of games including Cricket, Foot-ball, Volley Ball, Table Tennis, Kabaddi, KhoKho and Tug of War etc.
They said Matches for girls will be held at Government College for Women, M. A. Road, Srinagar while the matches for boys shall be conducted at S.P. College, A. S. College, Abdul Ahad Azad Memorial Degree Colleges Bemina grounds.
The Prize Distribution function shall be held on October 10 2017 in the premises of Government College for Women, M. A. Road, Srinagar.
It is pertinent to mention that the Cluster University of Srinagar was established last year with the financial assistance of the Centrally Sponsored Scheme of RUSA of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India and has started to function from the academic session 2017.
The Constituent Colleges of the University are S. P. College, A. S. College, and Government College for Women, M. A. Road, Abdul Ahad Azad Memorial Degree College, Bemina and Government College of Education M. A. Road, Srinagar.




RAJOURI, SEPTEMBER 18: A four days sports festival began here today in District Police Lines Rajouri. The festival is being organized by the district police under Civic Action Plan, an initiative of J&K Police Department for providing platform to the youth of the state to achieve excellence in sports field.
Present on the occasion were MLA Rajouri Adv. Qammar Chowdhary, ADC A.S. Chib, DIG Rajouri-Poonch Range Deepak Kumar Slathia, SSP Yougal Manhas, ASP Mohd Yousuf, Dy.SP Shazia Mir, Dy. SP Dr. Imtiaz Chowdhary, Dy. SP Jaswant Singh and DYS & S officer Sawarn Singh. The first day of the event witnessed a huge participation of youth, especially from government and private educational instituitions.
While speaking on the occasion, MLA Rajouri congratulated the police authorities for organizing such sports festivals which will go a long way in inculcating the sports culture in the youth of the district. He also called upon the youth to actively participate in various categories of sports during the festival so that they get prepared for participation in state and national level sport events.
Terming the sports as bedrock for mental and physical health, Deepak Slathia, DIG Rajouri-Poonch said the sports create camaraderie among the youth and shape physique of youngsters. It promotes mental development by creating high standards of discipline and maintaining physical fitness.
In the festival, competition will be organized in a myriad of indoor and outdoor games like cricket, volleyball, kabbadi, table tennis, badminton, kho kho, tug of war, football besides a number of athletic activities and both boys and girls under nineteen years of age can participate in the events, informed Yougal Manhas, SSP Rajouri.

 He added that youth need to be motivated to participate in sports as it builds confidence and gives positive energy saving them from meance of drug addiction, stress and other social deviance.
