JAMMU, FEBUARY 9: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Chaudhary and Minister for Rural Development, Panchayati Raj Abdul Haq today inaugurated Common Facilitation Centres (CFC) at Upper Chakroi and Kotli Rayian in Suchetgarh
Both the Ministers also inaugurated car parking at Kotli Raiyan.  
The CFC centre at Upper Chakroi was constructed with an estimated cost of Rs 44.70 lakh and CFC Kotli Rayian was constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 37 Lakh. The car parking at Kotli Raiyan was completed with a cost of Rs 10 lakh.
Speaking on the occasion, PHE Minister said that the government is making all endeavours to extend all necessary services to people at their door steps and setting up of two CFC in the area is a part of these initiatives.
The Minister, while counting government's achievements in other sectors, said that several works have been started to improve sanitation and healthcare facilities in the border villages. He said that the schemes launched for welfare of the people are yielding tangible results.
Speaking on the occasion, Abdul Haq assured that the government is committed for welfare and prosperity of the people by involving them in every sphere of development process. He said that government is also working hard to bring rural development department to the forefront by working in an open, transparent and corruption free manner.
Abdul Haq said that state government under the leadership of Mehbooba Mufti has started an era of transparency and accountability in the present system.

Inspects progress on Cable Car Project, Suchetgarh Border Tourism


JAMMU, NOVEMBER 01- In its endeavor to give new dimensions to tourism industry in the State, government is committed to complete several tourism related projects in a time bound manner.
The Minister of State for Education, Technical Education, Culture, Tourism, Department of Horticulture, Floriculture and Parks said this during her visit to Peerkho to inspect the progress of work on ambitious cable car project spanning from Peerkho to Mahamaya Temple to Bahu Fort.
Director Tourism Jammu, Smita Sethi, Managing Director JKCCC, Shamim Ahmad Wani, Joint Commissioner JMC, Khushal Chand, XEN Tourism besides officials of JKCCC and other allied agencies were present on the occasion.
The Minister was also accompanied by senior political leaders Yudhvir Sethi and Baldev Singh Baloria besides Viney Gupta, Arun Sethi, Kaka Ji, Ramesh Mahajan and Mahant Ravi Nath.
The Minister was informed that the project would be completed by early 2018 and is expected to cost Rs. 72 crore.
Priya Sethi took stock of works at Peerkho sites and enquired about completion timelines for various stages of the project.
The Minister asked the engineers and officers to expedite the work so that the project is thrown open to public within the promised timeframe.
Priya Sethi said that completion of this project will give a major boost to the State tourism economy by creating varied avenues for the people associated with the tourism industry.
She further said that Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti is personally monitoring the progress on these special tourism projects for Jammu and efforts are being made to develop Jammu as a prime tourism destination in the state.
            Elaborating on other tourism initiatives in pipeline, the Minister said that along with diverting the tourist traffic towards ancient Shiv Caves at Peek Kho, a 5 crore project is also underway to connect the five temples adjoining Peer-Kho by a common pathway so that tourists can fully experience and appreciate the rich religious tourism avenues in the region.
            Later, Priya Sethi also inspected the progress on construction work of Suchetgarh Border Tourism Project to be completed at an estimated cost of Rs. 4.92 crore.
          She was informed about development on various components of the project including construction of multipurpose hall with souvenir shops and cafeteria, restoration of pre independence railway platform in frontier express theme cum museum and gallantry gallary, tourist vehicle parking lot, internal pathways and landscaping and plantation with solar irrigation systems, rain water harvesting and filtration provisions, overhead water reservoir, solid waste management and eco awareness information signage.
While giving instructions for ensuring quality work, Priya Sethi asked the officers and executing agencies to complete the project within the time schedule and avoid the overrun of cost and time.
Priya Sethi also took stock of ongoing construction work of development of Tourism facilities at Bhagwati Nagar Jammu to be completed at an estimated cost of Rs. 15 crore. The work is being executed by Tourism Department.

The Minister took round of various sites of the project including Tourism Information Center, tourist cafeteria, tourist vehicle parking, resting shelter besides others and inspected the ongoing construction works.

Expresses optimism about public cooperation to govt’s endeavours


   JAMMU, OCTOBER 30 - Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, Sham Lal Choudhary, today kick started macadamization work on a 2 km road from Jeora farm to Jeora Basti in Suchetgarh.
          To be  completed at  an estimated cost of Rs. 60 lakh, the road will benefit the inhabitants of Gujjar Basti and adjoining parts.
          Sham Lal emphasized upon the executing agencies to make sure that the qualitative and quantitative parameters of the work are taken care of while ensuring expeditious completion of the macadamization work on the road.    “Timely and quality completion of a work is vital ingredient for successful implementation of any development programme so these must be strictly adhered to at all levels”, he asserted.
The Minister, while speaking on the occasion, said the prime focus of present dispensation is to extend an expanded road network in every part of the state with emphasis on unattended areas. “Road connectivity is basic need for growth and development of any area and we are determined to ensure that this vital service is provided to all irrespective of social, economic, cultural or any political consideration”, he maintained.
Referring to various reformative measures initiated by the government to steer the state towards peace, progress and prosperity, the Minister appreciated the role and cooperation being extended by the common people in effective and result oriented implementation of all such programmes. He expressed optimism that the people would continue their support in this regard and would further supplement government’s efforts of writing a new chapter of developing in Jammu and Kashmir.

          Among others senior officers and prominent citizens were present on the occasion.

JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 16 – Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Choudhary, today chaired a meeting to review the preparedness of the administration to deal with any exigency in the wake of prevailing situation in border villages.
SDM, RS Pura, Naresh Kumar, SDPO, RS Pura Surinder Choudhary, officers of Power Development Department, PWD (R&B), Rural Development Department, Public Health Engineering, Irrigation & Flood Control, Agriculture, Horticulture, Revenue, Social Welfare, Animal Husbandry and other departments were present in the meeting.
The Minister convened the meeting after he had an interaction with the villagers, who lost their livestock in the recent cross border firing in Sai.
The Minister inspected the community bunkers in the village and asked the law enforcement agencies to remain on high alert and take swift action, if any emergency arises.
Sham Choudhary directed the Health Department to station ambulances at Sai, Arnia and Baspur and keep their staff alert for dealing with any contingency. The Animal Husbandry Department was also asked to provide free medicines to people whose livestock is injured in the firing.
The Minister enquired from the RDD about the condition of community bunkers in the villages and directed that power, water and sanitation facilities should be ensured in these bunkers. He was informed that community bunkers have been constructed at Mullachak, Devigarh, Nikowal, Sai Khurd, Sai Kalan, Jajowal, Korotana, Flora, Gharana and Abdullian.
The Minister directed SDM, RS Pura to identify the places for setting up of temporary shelters and inform the people about the facility so that they can get safe havens at the time of emergency.
The Minister was informed that temporary shelters would be setup at Bana Singh Stadium, Boys Higher Secondary School RS Pura, Girls Higher Secondary School Miran Sahib, ITI RS Pura, Boys Higher Secondary School Kotli Shah Doula, Govt High School Chohala, Boys Middle School purana Pind, Social Welfare Complex RS Pura, City Middle School RS Pura, Rameshwar Dham Kotli Gala Bana, Boys Middle School and Girls Middle School at Mill Area, RS Pura.
The Minster further directed the PWD (R&B) to speed up macadamize work on the roads leading from Chak Devangarh to Bulla Chak and Chakrohi to Jora Farm as they lead to the most vulnerable villages in Suchetgarh.
The Executive Engineer, PWD (R&B) informed that macadamization works on more than 52 km have been taken up in Suchetgarh.
In the meeting, CDPO RS Pura Jasmeet Singh informed the Minister that 391 Anganwadi Centres are functional in the area and more than 14,000 families are taking the benefit of various social welfare schemes of the department.

          The Minister directed for opening new Anganwadi Centres in Suchetgarh.

JAMMU, AUGUST 18 – Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Sham Lal Choudhary today set deadline for completion of vital road projects with direction to engineers of PWD (R&B) to expedite the works lying unattended for the last so many years.
The Minister issued these directions while addressing a review meeting of major roads being executed under NABARD and BADP in Suchetgarh.
Superintending Engineer, PWD(R&B) Dev Raj, Executive Engineer, PWD(R&B) Alok Mengi and other senior officers of the department were present in the meeting.
The Minister enquired about the status of various roads including main road leading to Chak Devangarh, Chakrohi to Pindi Sarochan, Chakrohi to Gharani, KK Road to Baspur, Dablehar to Sai KK, Road to Khurd Post, Chakrohi to Jora Farm, link roads to Gopad Basti, Nikkowal village, Biaspur Parlah, Kothey Rahiyan to Biaspur, Devigarh to Mulla Chak, Khepad to Jasore via Kalali Tibba, Badyal Brahmana to Derian, Maggowali to Nannowali, Sai to Tangowali Chowk, Baspur to Samka, and Biaspur bridge to Mulla Chak.
Stressing that the roads bring development and prosperity with them, the Minister said priority should be given to construction of roads in border areas so that people living there don’t face any difficulty in shifting to safer places at the time of exigency.
He further said the government’s commitment is to provide road connectivity to every part of the state for ensuring its socio-economic development. The department should work dedicatedly for hassle-free execution of works including construction, up-gradation and maintenance of roads, he added.
He further said the roads should be blacktopped with good quality material and all the pending works be completed in a stipulated time frame.

     JAMMU, MAY 09 – District Development Commissioner, Rajeev Ranjan today held a public grievance redressal camp at Baspur, Suchetgarh.
          The public raised their grievances pertaining to electricity, water and ration supplies, inadequate medical facilities besides highlighting the plight of cross-border ceasefire victims and 1947 refugees.
          DDC directed the concerned to address the issues on priority alongwith compliance report in this regard to be submitted by June 30, 2017.
          SDM, R S Pura, Susheel Kumar, Tehsildars, BDOs and other officers from district administration were present on the occasion.
