ANANTNAG, MARCH 26: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Anantnag, Mohammad Younis Malik today chaired a meeting to review the progress achieved under Swachch Bharat Mission (SBM) here.
The purpose of the meeting was to sensitize concerned for accelerating the efforts of making the district Open Defecation Free (ODF).
Poor sanitation is a primary cause of many deadly diseases, deaths among children under 5 years of age, contamination of groundwater sources, loss of family income on account of increased health costs, and compromised human dignity, said the DDC.
 DDC said under SBM, the Rural Development Department is providing a financial assistance of Rs.12000 for construction of Individual Household Latrines (IHHL).
The DDC stressed upon the BDOs for 100% coverage till 7th April 2018. He also directed them for gearing up the field functionaries at the grass root level and focus on Baseline Survey to achieve the targets.
 The meeting was informed that in Rural Development Block, Qazigund, against a construction target of 2836 IHHL, 2210 units have been completed and online payment has been made in favour of 1322 beneficiaries.
The meeting was also attended by Chief Planning Officer, Anantnag, ACD, Anantnag, DPO and concerned BDOs.


District level SBM prog held in Budgam

BUDGAM, MARCH 26: A daylong district level awareness programme under  Swatch Bharat Mission programme was held today at Shiekh-ul-Alam Hall in Budgam.
The programme was organized by District Panchayat Office Budgam in collaboration with CEEO India.
Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Mohammad Harun Malik while speaking on the occasion urged student fraternity to be ambassadors of the Swatchh Bharat Mission to take the cleanliness drive to every household.
Stressing on the cleanliness and sanitation, DC informed that by June 30, 2018, there will be toilet facility in every household in the district.
For this change, we have been forming Swachhata Committees in every village to ensure every household has toilet facilities, DC said.
He said that students will be part of these committees to identify households lacking toilet facilities.
On the occasion, DC also stressed on maintaining personal hygiene and surroundings clean.
Terming the use of polythene as hazardous for human health and environment, DC urged students to play their part in curbing the menace of polyphone use.
On the occasion, speakers deliberated on the importance of toilets in schools and personal hygiene.
Among others, CPO Budgam, District Chief Agricultural Officer, District Panchayat Officer, BDO Budgam and scores of students from different schools were also present on the occasion.
NSD artists presented a number of folk shows to spread awareness about hygiene, cleanliness and sanitation. Meanwhile, DC also distributed mementoes amongst those who have done remarkable work under  Swatchh Bharat Mission drive in the district.


Jammu, AUGUST 30: BJYM Jammu organised cleanliness drive under Swaach Bharat Mission on National Sports Day to clean Sports ground, Prade at Jammu. BJYM District President Hari Om Sharma was the Chief Guest on the occasion. This drive was done under the direct supervision of BJYM State Secretary and State Incharge  Swaach Bharat Sunny Sangotra, who was also present on the occasion. The programme was organised by BJYM District Incharge Swaach Bharat Raghav Gupta.
Speaking on the occasion Hari Om Sharma appreciated the work done by District Incharge Swaachta Kranti and said that, the day is very important to choose the cleanliness drive of a Play ground, our Morcha is directly connected with the Youth and it is our prime duty to work for the welfare of the Youth of our State. Our Prime Minister has a vision of New India and it is our duty to work further so that we will able to make a new and clean India. He further said that similar cleanliness drives will be conducted in near future from our team in the entire district so that a culture of cleanliness can be adopted by our societies.
On the occasion Sunny Sangotra said that, the district team has done a commendable job, the idea to clean a play ground is very good on National Sports Day, we are with the district team wherever they need our support or help of any type for Swaach Bharat Mission. Swaachta had become a Kranti across the country and the youth of our state is with the mood of the country, our mission is to make a New India by 2022, and Swaachta is one of the step towards New India.
Others who were present on the occasion were District General Secretaries Vikas Sharma and Shodhya Sharma, Amrish Sharma, Akshay Gandotra, Lavdeep Pathania, Madan Singh, Joginder Singh, Kuldeep Gupta, Yogesh Magotra and Kapil Dev Kapoor.
