Hyderabad, Sep 19: The Congress would not name the Chief Ministerial candidate in poll-bound Telangana, where it would fight the Assembly elections jointly with the TDP, CPI and Telangana Jana Samithi, a key party leader said Wednesday.

The AICC In-charge of Telangana, R C Khuntia maintained that the usual practice in the Congress was not to name the party's Chief Ministerial candidate before any Assembly election.

"TPCC (Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee) President, Uttam Kumar Reddy will lead the campaign but the Chief Ministerial candidate will be finalised after the election," Khuntia told here.

"It will be decided after the election results come out, with the views of MLAs, in consultation with our President Rahul Gandhi", he said.

Telangana Assembly was dissolved on September six -- more than eight months ahead of the expiry of its term -- on the recommendation of (now) Caretaker Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, who opted to go for early elections.

The Election Commission is yet to come out with the poll schedule for the State.

The Congress which won 21 seats in the 119-member Assembly in the 2014 elections with a vote share of more than 25 per cent, has since struck an understanding with the TDP, the CPI and TJS of Prof M Kodandaram to fight the election jointly.

"Seat sharing details have not been finalised but we have agreed to fight jointly," Khuntia said. "We will have a common agenda, and also some strategy to campaign jointly," he added.

According to Khuntia, winnability of the alliance partners would decide as to who would get how many seats to contest.

"It's not the question of numbers; it's a question of winnability", he said, adding, while the Congress is the major partner, the three other parties would get "preference" in segments where they are in a better position.

The TDP fought the last election in alliance with the BJP, won 15 seats and had a close to 15 per cent vote-share.

However the Supreme Court a shortwhile ago has ordered the floor test on Saturday after resuming the hearing of petitions filed by Congress-Janata Dal (Secular).
Congress and JD(S) leaders have intially planned to shift their legislators by special flights from Benguluru to Hyderabad but decided to take the MLAs in buses to here, because of Aviation Authorities reportedly declined permission for the chartered aircrafts that had been arranged.
According to Congress sources. some Congress MLAs arrived at Taj Krishna hotel located at the posh Banjara hills where Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President Uttam Kumar Reddy is looking after all the arrangements.
However, MLAs of Janata Dal Secular were reportedly arrived at a resort, on the outskirts of Hyderabad and some of them were shifted to Novotel hotel in the city.
In view Karnataka lawmakers camping in the city, security is tightened in and around of star hotels and also at resorts in the city.
Congress leader and former Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy talking to a TV channel said that the decision to move the legislators out of Karnataka was taken after some emissaries of the BJP sneaked into the Eagleton resort in Bengaluru and attempted to bribe legislators.
Of the 222 seats to which Assembly Elections was held, BJP bagged 104 seats to emerge as the single largest party. The Congress was reduced to 78 seats while JD(S) won 37 seats. UNI

Agartala, Dec 15: The BJP Tripura state committee faced serious criticism after welcoming tainted former Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (PCCF) Sanatan Talukdar in the party.
While Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) termed BJP as dustbin, ruling CPI-M considered the inclusion of Talukdar is reflection of BJP’s taste and culture.
The party leaders came under fire within and outside the party soon after welcoming Talukdar by BJP observer Sunil Deodhar and President Biplab Kumar Deb last evening. Both the leaders applauded the decision of a top bureaucrat and indicated that Talukdar will be used as an instrument against administrative corruption of left front government.
However, Talukdar stated that he was requested to be in the party and he is a prospective candidate form Chakma tribal dominated Pecharthal constituency of North Tripura. During his service life Talukdar was leftist but the state government had to serve him chargesheet a week before his retirement in July this year for his relentless corruption.
BJP party had also demanded strong action against Talukdar six months ago when he was served chargesheet for his involvement in illegal accumulation of fund in different ways through their subordinates, possessing disproportionate assets from his known sources of income and moral turpitude.
Talukdar along with his aides – incumbent Chief Conservator of Forest (CCF) Prabir Bhattacharjee and two other former CCFs – Debasish Chakraborty and C M Debbarma were accused by Lokayukta of Tripura in preliminary inquiry into several corruption cases in last five years. But the state government did not allow Lokayukta for detailed investigation despite repeated persuasions, as allegedly Chief Minister Manik Sarkar was not agreed.
According to official sources, the state vigilance department had completed the investigation of charges against Talukdar and others long back but the accused officials could able to influence the Chief Minister’s office and Chief Secretary’s office to delay the proceedings drawn against them.
Earlier Lokayukta had recommended the state government to initiate criminal case against Talukdar, retired CCF Debasish Chakraborty and accounts officer of Tripura forest department Amalendu Debbarma for indulging corruption to the tune of Rs 10.52 crore in the name of Jatropha cultivation.
The Lokayukta Justice P K Sarkar had asked the government to accord sanction to conduct further inquiry into the corruption against them while directed the accused officers to deposit the accounts of their movable and immovable property statement including their family members.
Lokayukta has also convicted PCCF Talukdar for allowing another tainted CCF Prabir Bhattacharjee to draw Rs 6687 per month as house rent for three decades despite living in a house built on BSNL land in the city occupying illegally by misusing his power.
Both Lokayukta and vigilance authority had recommended termination of PCCF Talukdar and both the CCF Chakraborty and Bhattacharjee from their service to prevent damage in the investigation by overpowering the system but unfortunately nothing was happened with them yet. UNI
