SRINAGAR, JULY 25: Excise and Taxation (E&T) Kashmir department today destroyed Bhang on 46 kanals of land in various areas of Kashmir division.
In the villages of Pamposh Colony, Bakhshi Pora  and Bagh-e-Lal Bagh Gager Zoo in district Srinagar 28 kanals of land were destroyed by a team Excise and Taxation (E&T) officer, Central Kashmir Excise Range.
          Another Excise team of North Kashmir Excise Range under the command of Excise & Taxation Officer destroyed bhung on 21 kanals of land in village of  Ganiapura Ashma of Tehsil Sumbal of District Bandipora while the third Excise team of South Kashmir Excise Range headed by Excise & Taxation Officer destroyed bhung on 25 kanals of land in village Shaat Malooro Tehsil Zainapora of District Shopian.

          So far total bhung on 486 kanals of land has been destroyed by the Excise and Taxation department.

SRINAGAR, JULY 19: An Excise team headed by Excise and Taxation Officer Central Kashmir Range today destroyed Bhang on 32 kanals of land in the villages of Dudkhut and Potter falling in Tehsil and District Srinagar.
          The second Excise team of North Kashmir Range headed by Excise and Taxation Officer destroyed bhang on 29 kanals of land in villages of Asham and Banpur of Tehsil Sumbal of District Bandipora and the third team of South Kashmir Range headed by Excise and Taxation Officer destroyed bhung on 20 kanals of land in village Sether (Sangam) of Tehsil Bijbehara of District Anantnag.

          So far total bhung on 136 kanals of land has been destroyed.

Appealed the Public to destroy the Poppy/ Bhang from their respective areas
          PULWAMA, JULY 5: The Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, G.M DAR has appealed general public of district Pulwama to shun away from cultivation of poppy and cannabis or face strict legal action. He has asked the public to destroy the Poppy whether wild or cultivated form from their respective areas and free the district from the ill consequences of poppy and cannabis cultivation.
          Deputy Commissioner said that such illegal activities are detrimental to the entire society, particularly to the young generation and emphasized that it is the bounden duty of every respectable citizen of the society to free it from the clutches of drug menace. He also stressed on creating more awareness so that the drug menace is eradicated completely from the society and appealed to various local Auqaf committees and other relevant stake holders to spread awareness regarding the illegal nature of such activities and consequences thereof.
          Deputy Commissioner  also  directed  the officers to intensify village wise anti-bhang and poppy cultivation drive to root out the menace from the district and in this regard joint teams comprising officials from revenue  police, agriculture, social welfare,  forest, Excise, R& B, Irrigation  etc have been constituted  to conduct random monitoring and mapping for eradication of wild bhang grown along roadsides and riverbanks They will also map timely survey and conduct destruction of bhang and poppy crop in its infancy stage.

          It was given out that the stern necessary action as per the law would be initiated against the offenders who grow, harvest, store, transport buy/sell or deal with such illegal activities.

          ANANTNAG, JULY 05: District administration Anantnag today launched a massive drive against the bhang cultivation in the Bijberhara area of the district.
The Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, led the drive and was accompanied by the SSP Anantnag, Altaf Ahmad Khan, Excise and Taxation Officer South Kashmir range, Tehsildar Bijbehara, SHO Bijbehara and other officials of Revenue, Excise and Police Departments.
The drive was started from Gantalipora Dupatyar area of Bijbehara Tehsil. During the drive, massive tracts of areas cultivating cannabis were destroyed.
On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner sought the cooperation of the civil society and the local Auqaf Committees for the success of the drive so that the menace of drug addiction is wiped out from the district.

The Deputy Commissioner said that such drives against bhang cultivation shall be held regularly and those involved in this activity shall be dealt harshly as per the provisions of NDPS Act.
