SAMBA, JUNE 20: Deputy Commissioner, Sheetal
Nanda, today chaired a meeting to finalize arrangements being put in place for
smooth conduct of Amrnathji Yatra 2017.
The meeting was attended by Additional District Development
Commissioner, Vivek Sharma, SSP, Anil Magotra, Additional Deputy Commissioner,
T S Sharma, Sub Divisional Magistrates, District Information Officer, Tehsildars,
Block Development Officers, other officers from different departments and
several eminent personalities of the district.
The Yatra Officer, SDM Vijaypur will be assisted by the designated nodal
officers- Tehsildars of Ghaggawal, Samba, Vijaypur and Bari Brahmana for
facilitating the arrangements and conduct of two month long yatra.
The Deputy Commissioner directed installation of Langer sites with
adequate facilities of drinking water, electricity, sanitation, fire tenders,
medical aid and proper parking spaces to provide hassle free travel to pilgrims
who will be visiting the valley based shrine from all parts of the country.
Chief Medical Officer was directed to ensure round the clock medical
facilities with special arrangements for emergency medical aid besides
organizing mandatory medical checkup camps for the Amarnath pilgrims both at
District Hospital Samba and Vijaypur hospital.
An enforcement committee comprising officers from Legal Metrology and
Food Safety departments along with concerned TSO was constituted for strict
checking of rates, quality and quantity of eatables, perishables and
consumables especially at the markets en route Amarnath yatra.
DC, Sheetal Nanda appealed the civil society for extending cooperation
to the administration for smooth conduct of this annual religious Yatra. She
emphasized maintaining highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation for
cleaner and greener district to motivate the pilgrims for undertaking
consecutive visits to Samba for tourism, recreational and cultural purposes.
