POONCH, AUGUST 25: District Development Commissioner,
Tariq Ahmed Zargar today inaugurated a district level exhibition cum sale at
Sadbhavana Hall of Govt. Degree College Poonch, organized by J&K
Khadi & Village Industries Board.
Speaking on the occasion, DDC appreciated the role of KVIB in
implementation of PMEGP scheme in the district and generation of employment
opportunities.
He said that
this initiative of the KVIB will provide a platform to the units established
under PMEGP to showcase their products thereby assisting them in tapping
marketing avenues. He said this will in turn develop competitiveness and
improve the quality of products being manufactured by the SSIs in the district.
The DDC
called upon the department to ensure that reach of the scheme is widened
through special efforts to include people from backward areas. He also
instructed KVIB to organize such programs in rural areas in order to generate
awareness among the masses regarding various employment generating schemes .
Earlier District Officer J&K Khadi & Village Industries Board
Poonch, Sameer Ahmad in his welcome address informed that the J&K Khadi
& Village Industries Board in collaboration with KVIC Ministry of MSME,
Government of India has taken various initiatives to provide gainful employment
opportunities under Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme
(PMEGP).
DIC, Handicraft, Handloom, Agriculture Department and various banks have
also put up their stalls in the exhibition for disseminating information
regarding various welfare schemes.
