Srinagar, Aug 17 : Troops have launched a massive search operation in the dense woods near the Line of Control (LoC) in Gurez sector in north Kashmir district of Bandipora since early this morning, official sources said. They said troops, guarding the LoC, noticed some suspicious movement near Bima Post. Later, security forces launched a massive search operation in the woods, they said, adding that so far, no contact has been established with the militants. A large number of militants are waiting militants are waiting near the Line of Control (LoC) in Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK) to sneak into this side before the infiltration routes are closed due to snowfall. However, troops are already on high alert to foil any such infiltration attempt from PoK. Security forces foiled a number of infiltration attempts and killed large number of militants near the LoC immediately after they sneaked into this side. Recently, five militants were killed near the LoC in Machil sector on August 7 while a soldier died in ceasefire violation by Pakistani troops in Uri sector on August 16. UNI
