JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 28: Acting on the complaint of consumers for being
overcharged on the pretext of GST, Legal Metrology Department (LMD) today
booked M/S Vermani departmental store here at Channi Himmat.
A team of officers of Legal Metrology department conducted extensive checking of the store and found that it was
charging New MRP on old products. A case of overcharging was registered against
the owner.
The team also found number of other deceptive items which were displayed
for sale without adhering mandatory declaration required for the information of
the consumers.
All such items were seized and notice issued for production of bills to
ascertain the exact rates of such items.
According to complainant, he purchased Rusk packet and Nesttle cerelac
marked with MRP of Rs 60 & 196 respectively, but issued invoice bill No
49803 charging Rs 65 & 199, overcharged by Rs 5 & 3 on each item.
