BANDIPORA, SEPTEMBER 13: In order to review the preparedness for the nationwide sanitation campaign, 'Swachhta Hi Seva', a joint meeting of officers and senior citizens was held under the chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner, Bandipora here today. 
          It was given out in the meeting that a fortnight sanitation campaign under the banner 'Swachhta Hi Seva' shall be launched on 15th of this month across the district which will culminate on 2nd October, the Gandhi Jayanti.
          Public representatives, panchayats and Municipal Bodies, Government employees, police personnel, home guards, Anganwari workers, school children, social workers, Organizations and citizens will be actively participating in the campaign
The aim of the campaign is to reinforce the concept of Sanitation at Mass level .
          The activities at the District level will include large scale cleaning of Offices, Hospitals, Schools, Aganwardi Centers, Parks, Bus Stops, road sides, prominent water bodies, community toilets and other public places.
          It was also informed that special focus of campaign will be cleaning of world famous Wullar Lake for which full  cooperation was sought from people living around Wullar lake.
          The ADC urged upon the officers to formulate  action plan highlighting daily calendar of activities starting from 15th of September to make the campaign a success.
          The ADC asked Officers to plan activities in such a manner that will generate interest in the sanitation drive. He also asked them to arrange quiz and painting competitions, symposiums and debates in schools at the district and Tehsil level on the theme 'Swachhta Hi Seva' .
          ADC asked Police Department to actively participate and assist in the Sanitation drive in the district.
          ADC also directed the Municipal Committees of Bandipora, Hajin and Sumbal to make suitable arrangements for the disposal of the waste/garbage collected during the sanitation drive.

          The Assistant Commissioner Development, Chief Planning Officer and District Panchayat  Officer also spoke on the occasion.
