Mock drills, demonstrations held at Poonch

POONCH, OCTOBER 13: District Disaster Management Authority Poonch (DDMA) in collaboration with civil defense today conducted demonstration and mock drills to spread awareness regarding disaster risk reduction.

The mock drill exercise was witnessed by students, community volunteers and   general public.

Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Tariq Ahmad Zargar, was the chief guest on the occasion.  In his address, the DC said that students can play a vital role sensitizing people regarding disaster management and dos & don'ts during any eventuality. He termed them as the first responders at the time of any eventuality. He further said mock drills/ demonstration activities and general awareness among students in schools would be made a permanent feature in coming days.

The training mock drill was conducted by expert trainers from SDRF, civil defense in collaboration with DDMA Poonch. The trainers actively engaged the participants in mock drills, emergency rescue methods. The students were educated regarding dos & don’ts and were also trained in Search & Rescue, First Aid and methods to minimize the losses during disaster.
