By-election to Sikandara Assembly seat in UP on Dec 21

Lucknow, Nov 24: Bypolls to Sikandara Assembly seat in Uttar Pradesh would be held on December 21, the Election Commission announced on Friday morning.

The Assembly seat fell vacant, following the death of sitting BJP member Mathura Prasad Pal, who died on July 22 after a prolonged illness. According to the EC statement, the nominations for the Sikandara Assembly by-elections in Kanpur Dehat district would start on November 26 and the last date for filing of the nominations is December 4. Scrutiny of the papers would be done on December 5 and last date for withdrawals of papers is December 7. The polling for the bypolls would be held on December 21 and counting of votes on December 24. The EC said that the voting would be done through Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) in the bypolls along with the facility of VVPAT. The Model Code of Conduct for the bypolls was enforced with immediate effect, the statement said. UNI
