Shimla, Nov 9: Six-time Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, who is about 84 years old, once again hoped that he would be voted to power for the seventh term, predicting the full majority to his incumbent Congress government.
Mr Singh along with his son Vikramaditya and wife Pratitbha Singh cast his vote at Rampur Bushair and said that he is certain of the party winning with full majority in the ongoing Assembly elections.The longest serving Chief Minister of the state, Mr Singh told mediapersons that he hoped that the party would achieve full majority votes in the elections. The next government too would be of the Congress. Showing his discontentment with the election trail of BJP and derogatory remarks made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the octogenarian Chief Minister said he had seen all Prime Ministers and heard their speech however Mr Modi speeches during the campaigning trial did not suit him and his high dignity. Mr Singh was in fray from Arki assembly segment of Solan district, his son Vikarmaditya who was fighting his first elections is in fray from Shimla Rural, BJP's CM face Prem Kumar Dhumal was in fray from Sujanpur, former Congress Minister Sukh Ram's son Anil Sharma is fighting on BJP ticket from Mandi. All the Congress Ministers are in fray. Congress and BJP was fighting election in all 68 seats. Bahujan Samaj Party is contesting 42 seats, followed by the Communist Party of India (Marxist) which is contesting 14, Swabhiman Party and Lok Gathbandhan Party six each, and the CPI contesting three seats. The main focus of the BJP's campaign was corruption while the Congress hit out at the Opposition regarding the issues of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) and demonetisation. A total of 50,25,941 voters are eligible to cast their votes and the polling will take place at 7,525 booths with EVMs and VVPAT. The counting would be done on December 18. UNI
