SRINAGAR, JANUARY 20: Department of Information & Public
Relation (DIPR) in collaboration with Film and Television Institute of India
(FTII) Pune and Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI) Kolkata
today organized a seminar at Srinagar.
FTII representatives senior faculty members, FTII Pune Pankaj
Saxsena, and Lalit Tiwari held an interactive session with a large number
of students from different Universities and colleges of the valley.
Joint Director Information Kashmir, Zahoor Ahmad,
while addressing the participants that DIPR in collaboration with FTII
has organized this admission seminar in Srinagar to acquaint the the
students with the admission procedures and career options in the field .
While elaborating the courses of the FTII and SRFTII, India's two
most reputed centres of film and television education, Saxsena and Tiwari
detailed about the different courses and also how to apply.
Saxsena said that FTII Pune and SRFTI Kolkata both
Institutions under Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Govt. of India
have announced Joint Entrance Test (JET) for 2018 admissions. The all-India
test will be on 18th February in
26 centres across the country which includes Jammu and Srinagar in Jammu &
Kashmir. He said this is the first time both institutes have come together for
a common entrance test, FTII is conducting Admission Seminars in various
locations across the country.
He added that FTII aims to attract maximum participants to these
Seminars so that a large number of prospective candidates from J&K get an
opportunity to take the JET exams this year. This year FTII is making special
efforts to increase entrance test enrolment in regions such as Jammu &
Kashmir where the candidate turn out is traditionally low", He said.
The faculty members said that candidates applying for admission to
FTII and SRFTI need to go through a multi-stage selection process. The first
stage in this selection process is an All India level written examination
called as the Joint Entrance Test, 2018 (JET 2018).
JET 2018 is a written test of three hours duration consisting of
objective type and subjective questions and will be conducted in 26 centers
across India. Based on the JET 2018 score of the candidates, FTII and SRFTI
will send call letters to the candidates for the Second stage of the selection
process and thereafter, on successful accomplishment of all the requisites,
finally admit students in their full time regular programmes for the academic
year 2018.
While interacting with FTII faculty students requested
establishment of film institute like FTII in the state, besides regular
seminars regarding career orientation.
