Delhi, Jan 9: Expressing serious concern over the FIR filed against a
journalist for filing a story on the breach in Aadhaar data, the Indian
newspaper society on Tuesday termed it as a 'brazen attack on the freedom of
the press' and demanded immediate withdrawal of the FIR lodged by the UIDAI.
In a statement here, president of the INS Akila Urankar said that on behalf of
the entire community of INS members she expresses serious concern about the
attempt to browbeat the reporter of the Tribune who has courageously reported
leak of crucial Aadhaar data. ''This report was eminently in the public interest. This is a brazen attack on
the freedom of the press and displays lack of respect for ethical media
practices.
INS demands that the FIR lodged by the UIDAI be withdrawn forthwith,'' the INS said. UNI
