Bengaluru, Feb 15: In its bid to forge a third political force to fight against the BJP and Congress in Karnataka, Janata Dal(S) will tie up with other regional parties like Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP) and Sharad Pawar-led National Congress Party (NCP).
JD(S) has already tied up with the BSP and its State unit President H D Kumaraswamy met NCP President Sharad Pawar in the city on Thursday and explored the possibility of having a truck during the elections to combat the two major contesting parties -- Congress and the BJP. 
JD(S) had indicated that it was ready to support NCP candidates in five to seven seats in North Karnataka region.
NCP has a minor presence in Mumbai-Karnataka region. Mr Pawar had also agreed to campaign for a week in support of JD(S) candidates where NCP had influence among the voters ahead of Assembly election likely to be held during first week of May. The talks were cordial and was successful, according to party sources.
JD(S) has already firmed up its alliance with the BSP assuring it 20 seats. The party, which is targetting to gain a majority on its own in the ensuing election, has also held talks with Left Parties on arriving at a seat sharing formula.
The Deve Gowda-led party, predominantly popular in the Vokkaliga belt in Southern Karnataka districts had not been in a position to win majority on its own in Karnataka and had acted as a braid's maid for short duration in coalition government with Congress and BJP, respectively, earlier.
