New Delhi, Feb 19: The Union Home Minister
Rajnath Singh will be in northeast from Monday to participate in election
campaign for BJP in poll-bound Meghalaya and Nagaland.
"Going to Meghalaya on election campaign. Shall address
two public meetings at Songsak and South Tura in Garo Hills region," Mr
Singh tweeted.
On Tuesday, the Home Minister is expected to visit remote Atoizu assembly Constituency under Zunheboto district and also address an election rally.
The BJP has fielded former Chief Minister K L Chishi from Atoizu assembly Constituency.
According to sources, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also likely to visit Meghalaya and Nagaland and address election rallies.
Mr Modi is likely to address an election rally at Tuensang on February 22. Prime Minister will campaign in Phulbari in Garo Hills either on February 21 or 22, a source in Meghalaya BJP told.
Phulbari hamlet is located in Selsella Tehsil of West Garo Hills district.
For the prestigious South Tura assembly seat, the BJP has fielded Billykid A Sangma, who is taking on among others former Union Minister Agatha Sangma of NPP.
Elections in Nagaland and Meghalaya will be held on February 27 and counting of votes will be taken up on March 3 along with Tripura.
