Directs swift evacuation, better treatment of injured
SRINAGAR, MAY 18: Minister for
Disaster Management, Relief Rehabilitation and Reconstruction, Javaid Mustafa
Mir, today expressed grief over the killing of five people including an Army
Jawan in cross-border firing in RS Pura sector.
The Minister directed concerned Deputy Commissioners (DCs) of border areas
to reach out to the people in shelling-hit areas for effective rescue and
medicare facilities.
He called upon the district administration Jammu for early evacuation and
shifting of injured to hospitals, besides also keep the availability of
ambulances in place to meet any exigency.
He said the district administration has established shelters for evacuees
and bulletproof vehicles are being used for the evacuation process.
The Minister further directed the concerned to ensure that proper medical
facilities are provided to the people injured in the shelling and also directed
to relocate the left-out populace to safe places in case of any eventuality.
“The government is in touch with the district administration and is
monitoring the situation, while as medical heads and other staff has been
directed to be available round-the-clock for better treatment of injured”, the
Minister added.
