RAJOURI, JUNE 19: District
Development Commissioner Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary today inaugurated one-day
workshop on National Scheduled Caste Scheduled Tribe Hub (NSSH) and other
related schemes. The workshop was organised by Jammu and Kashmir Khadi and Village
Industries Board (J&K KVIB) for dissemination of information about various
schemes of the central and state government for welfare of schedule caste and
schedule tribe population.

Rashid Ahmad Qadri, Deputy CEO KVIB Pawan Gupta, Financial Advisor and Chief
Accounts Officer KVIB Mohammad Ashraf Haqla, district officer of KVIB Rajouri,
district officers of line departments, ex-panches and sarpanches and
participants from targeted population were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the
occasion, the DDC said schemes in likes of National ST SC Hub are envisaged to
impart entrepreneurial skills to ST/SC population to enable them to establish
the MSME (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises). This, he said, will play a
pivotal role in socio-economic development of these marginalised communities
and bring them at par with the mainstream.
He said under
capacity building initiative of NSSH Programme, around 2000 SC/ST entrepreneurs
will be skilled over by 3 Sector Skill Councils for establishing enterprises by
formulating clusters.
He said in order to
give upward flip to the business of MSEs owned by SC/ST entrepreneurs the
government has mandated 4% of total procurement by Central Ministries,
Departments and CPSEs from these MSEs.
On the occasion,
CEO R.A Qadri briefed the tribal population about the benefits entailed under
various self employment schemes and flagship programmes for inclusion of
marginalised communities in developmental process, eligibility criteria and
other parameters fixed by policy makers.
He also impressed
upon District Officer, KVIB and line departments to extend their public
outreach in each and every part of the district to rope in all aspiring
entrepreneurs of these communities so that benefits percolate to grassroots
level.
It was also given out that district Rajouri has recorded highest number
of cases under PMEGP being sponsored with incoming generating units in
manufacturing, trade and services sectors successfully established.
