New Delhi, Apr 3: Following the past success of Skill Development initiatives in 2015-16 & 2017-18, Airports Authority of India (AAI) and Construction Industry Development Council (CIDC) signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) on for Financial Assistance for Employment Oriented Training and Skill Development Programme for SC/ST/OBC/Women, Unemployed Youth & people belonging to EWS. 
This CSR initiative of AAI, to be implemented during 2018-19, will have 2000 beneficiaries. 
The MoA was signed by Sanjeev Jindal (GM-CSR), AAI and Ashutosh Bhardwaj, (Director – Corporate Affairs) of CIDC in the presence of G K Chaukiyal (ED-CSR), AAI, Ajay Kumar, AGM (HR), AAI and B N Rao, Sr. Manager CIDC. 
The program is aimed at providing job oriented skill development and training to the marginalised and economically weaker sections of the society in five zones namely South, West, East, North and North Eastern. The training will be provided in CIDC centres and will help in skill development of rural youth, women, SC/ST/OBC and other marginalised sections in construction sector whereby they can be gainfully employed. 
According to AAI press release, this partnership will eventually help in poverty reduction, rise in self-esteem of the individuals and value addition to their skills. The initiative will play an important role in livelihood promotion of people from backward and remote areas as well as help them gain meaningful employment leading to their social and economic upliftment. Chennai, Mar 23: A mock aircraft crash drill, using drones for the first time, was conducted at the SRM University Campus at suburban Kattankulathur in association with the Airports Authority of India (AAI) on Friday.
The mock aircraft crash was done to simulate the search and rescue operations.
Search and rescue operation was carried out once a year at various airports and this year the mock exercise was held at Chennai and the AAI has partnered with SRM Institute of Science and Technology to conduct the search and rescue mission. 
The mock drill was done to test the defence preparedness of various agencies in the event of any contingency/disaster and also to improve the coordination between various agencies that included, Coast Guard, IAF, Navy, health, fire, police departments, INMCC, various NGOs and SRM. 
This was the first time drones were used for the Search and rescue operation for an aircraft, a release from SRMIST said. 
To make it possible for the rescue team to inspect the area from above and to accomplish it, a drone, designed by a 20-member Team (SRM SCRO), was used for the search operation. 
The drone was capable of carrying two kg payload having imaging and transmission system, which transmits the live feed video (4K resolution) to the ground station, from where it was transmitted to ATC (Air Traffic Control). 
Soon after the aircraft 'crash' took place, the GPS signal would be transmitted to the satellite and the ATC authorities would get the GPS coordinate in terms of minutes accuracy(1.85km). 
To improve positioning accuracy and identifying the proper location and condition of the crash area, the ATC authorities calls for the drone assistance by providing the GPS coordinate. 
Since the area is 1.85 km, the area mapping algorithm was utilised to map the given GPS location with two meter location accuracy. 
The drone was made to fly and map the entire area, when the ATC authorities identify the crashed airplane in live feed video.
The respective GPS coordinates in seconds accuracy (20 meter) and the rescue sent to the crash site for taking up the rescue operation. UNI

Panaji, Feb 17: Airports Authority of India (AAI) Chairman Dr Guruprasad Mohapatra inaugurated Airport Help Desk/Information Centre at Goa International Airport at Dabolim in South Goa on Friday.
According to a statement here, the Help Desk/Information Centre was part of AAI's efforts to add new facilities to improve overall efficiency of airport operations for the benefit of passengers and all the stakeholders working at Goa Airport.
Airports Authority of India has awarded an expenditure contract of Rs 59,73,204 for operation and management of help desk for passenger facilitation and reserve lounges at Goa Airport. A dedicated Help Desk with flight information display and computer system to get latest flight information will be available at the Help Desk. 
A dedicated help line number which will be operational round the clock will be launched soon. The number will be widely circulated for information. Total 23 outsourced manpower will be deployed with five per shift round the clock for passenger assistance and operation of Help Desk, the statement said. UNI
