Mumbai, Oct 11 (PTI) Director Subhash Kapoor, who has a molesting case pending against him, said Wednesday that he understands and respects Aamir Khan's decision to exit the Gulshan Kumar biopic as producer.


In the wake of the #MeToo movement that is escalating day by day in the country, without taking any names Khan announced his and filmmaker-wife Kiran Rao's departure from an upcoming project, saying he has been informed of "sexual misconduct" on the part of a collaborator.

"Mogul" co-producer Bhushan Kumar said Wednesday that Kapoor has been sacked from the job.

"With the ongoing proceedings against the director that is brought to our notice, everyone at T-Series has decided to not work with the director," Bhushan said in a statement to PTI. 

Reacting to Khan's announcement, Kapoor told PTI, "I understand and respect Aamir Khan's and Kiran Rao's decision. Since matter is sub judice, I intend to prove my innocence in the court of law." 

Actor Geetika Tyagi, who has appeared in films like "One By Two", "Aatma", "What the Fish", has accused Kapoor of molesting her. 

In April 2014, Tyagi had filed a complaint with Versova police station alleging that he tried to rape her two years ago. Following which, Kapoor was arrested and let out on bail after paying a sum of Rs 10,000.

In 2014, a video, which was apparently taken with a hidden camera had Tyagi, Kapoor and his wife in it. In the video, Tyagi is seen slapping Kapoor, which the aspiring actor had put on social media. 

The director, best known for "Jolly LLB" series, questioned Tyagi's motives of sharing the video on the internet.

"... But I do want to raise a question - is secretly filming a crying woman without her consent and knowledge and uploading it on social media not harassment or abuse? Or is it fine if she is related to someone who is 'allegedly accused' of misconduct. If your answer is latter then for me it's nothing less then a khap panchayat mentality," he said.

In a joint statement, Aamir and filmmaker-wife Kiran Rao had also said, "At Aamir Khan Productions we have always had a zero-tolerance policy towards sexual misconduct and predatory behaviour of any kind." 

They said they were committed to making the industry a safe place.

Mumbai, Oct 10 (PTI) Subhash Kapoor will no longer be directing Gulshan Kumar biopic, which was earlier going to be produced by Aamir Khan.


Kapoor of "Jolly LLB" fame, was to direct Gulshan Kumar biopic, titled "Mughal". 

Without taking any names, Aamir in a statement Wednesday announced his decision to step away from a future project because it would have meant collaborating with someone accused of sexual harassment.

When contacted about Aamir's decision to part ways with the project, Bhushan Kumar of T-Series told PTI, "He (Aamir) doesn't want to work with Subhash Kapoor because of his unfinished case. " 

When asked whether T-Series will work with Kapoor, Bhushan told PTI, "No.. We won't. We are not making (the film) with him." 

Kapoor remained unavailable for comment. He was accused of molestation by a female actor.

"Upon enquiry we found that this particular case is sub-judice, and that the legal process is in motion," the statement from Aamir and wife Kiran Rao read.

Mumbai, Sep 17 :  "Thugs of Hindostan", featuring megastar Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan in the lead roles, will hit the theatres on November 8.

The Yash Raj Films project also stars Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Shaikh.

Apart from announcing the release date, YRF also unveiled the logo of action entertainer.

Vijay Krishna Acharya is directing the movie, which marks the first collaboration of Bachchan and Khan.

Aurangabad, Maharashtra, May 3: Paani Foundation Founder and Bollywood actor Aamir Khan has appealed to the people not to waste water.
Addressing a press conference along with his spouse Kiran Rao and CEO Satyajit Bhatka after visiting site of water conservation in Kolhi Village in Vaijapur taluka of the district, he said those who were staying in urban areas should do water harvesting.
He said, 'At least 1.5 lakh urban people across the state contributed their voluntary work as 'Jalmitra' on the occasion of International Day in 100 villages which got tremendous response to our call.'
He said urbanist had reliase that what was important of water and what were it's resources.
Paani Foundation is people's movement to make Maharashtra drought free. It is working seriously since last three years for the purpose after inspiration of Satyamev Jayate show.
This year 4,039 villages across 75 talukas participated in the Paani Foundation's Water Cup Competition 2018.
Decentralised watershed management was the scientific solution to drought, he said. UNI

New Delhi, Apr 18: In its third year of inception, Aamir Khan is taking Paani Foundation to the youth of the country.
The actor is keen that students should be reached out to volunteer for a day from their two months of summer holidays to help villages.
Taking Paani Foundation to educational institutes, Aamir will be going to college and will make an appeal to students by pinning up call to action posters urging students to join the movement. 
Superstar Aamir Khan who has been extensively working for the welfare of small villages in Maharashtra will be making this appeal in Mumbai Pune Nasik and Nagpur colleges to urge students to join in for Shramdaan. 
The actor will be visiting Symbiosis college in Pune on April 20 and will interact with students over a question and answer session spreading awareness about the social initiative. 
Aamir has been associated with Paani foundation for the past three years and has helped almost one fourth of Maharashtra to conserve and utilise water.
Paani Foundation is a not-for-profit company set up in 2016 by the team of the TV series Satyamev Jayate to fight drought in rural Maharashtra. 
The actor wants students from across the state to volunteer for the cause of water conservation and hence join Shramdaan.

In 2018, over 9000 villages from 75 talukas will be competing for the Water Cup.

New Delhi, Mar 29: Aamir Khan’s 'Midas' touch is not limited to his films but it also positively impacts his social initiatives.
Aamir's initiative of Paani Foundation’s 'Satyameva Jayate Water Cup' has grown to achieve what they were set out to in the last three years.
The actor who has been busy shooting for his upcoming film will take some time off along with wife Kiran Rao for 'Paani Foundation' and will be dedicating two months entirely to look into the work personally.
During the actor's recent Facebook Live, Aamir shared, "I have been travelling to different villages all day and I'm speaking to people from different villages about the Satyamev Jayate Water Cup (a competition in which villages compete to win prizes for the best watershed management work) and encouraging them. Some of them have already completed their training so Kiran (Rao) and I in the months of April and May travel around Maharashtra and we go to different villages where work is happening and we work with the villagers and discover such wonderful stories which are very inspiring."
Aamir further adds, "You must know that all the success that you see in these villages is all their own efforts. we have not given them any monetary help. We have only given them knowledge and encouraged them".

While he has not been speaking about it, Paani foundation’s 'Satyameva Jayate Water Cup' has grown to achieve what they were set out to in the last three years.
It is not a known fact but Aamir Khan has been going every year to do shramdaan for the foundation.
'Water Cup' that started with three Talukas in 2016 has almost 1/4th of Maharashtra participating this year. In 2018, over 9000 villages from 75 talukas will be competing for the 'Water Cup'.
Because of his phenomenal work in this area, in Maharashtra, the smallest of places not only know about Aamir but also take him to be a huge inspiration.
While Reena Dutta, Kiran Rao, Satyajit Bhatkal, Swati and a huge team handle the daily proceedings of the initiative, Aamir joins them via video conference to take important decisions regardless of which part of the world he is in.
That’s the kind of enthusiasm and passion he holds for this initiative.

New Delhi, Mar 7: Bollywood actor Aamir Khan has expressed grief over the sad demise of veteran actress Shammi.
The actor took to Twitter to offer his condolences saying, "Shammi aunty’s passing away is a sad loss to the film industry and to her fans. My heart-felt condolences to her family and close friends. I have always been a fan of her work and will miss her exuberant presence.”
Aamir Khan also shared a video of Shammi's song 'Ek Bar Agar Too Kah De' from her debut film 'Malhar' in her memory.
Veteran actress Shammi passed away on Tuesday after a long illness.
Known for her roles in both films and TV serials, Shammi's death is a huge loss to the entertainment industry. UNI

New Delhi, Nov 28: Bollywood may be the next stop for all beauty pageant winners but Miss World Manushi Chillar on Tuesday said Hindi films are not on her mind right now.
She, however, said that if offered a Bollywood film in future, she would love to work with the 'perfectionist' Aamir Khan.
'Bollywood is just something that is not on my mind as of now so I really can’t say anything about it,' Manushi said during her visit to the capital.
'However, if I get an offer, I would like to work in an Aamir Khan movie.
The kind of roles he does are very interesting and challenging as well.
I think his movies connect to the people in a positive manner," Manushi said.
She said she considers Priyanka Chopra as her favourite actress.
She added, "I am really excited about travelling next year.
We will be visiting four continents, and spreading awareness about menstrual hygiene.
'Manushi, who belongs to a family of doctors, said as Miss World she wants to make the world a better place.
'As a doctor and a Miss World your purpose is the same, you want to make the world better for everyone.
"Asked for her opinion on the controversy surrounding the film Padmavati and threats received by its lead actress Deepika Padukone, she said, 'All Indian women have one thing in common… we don’t feel persecuted for who we are and actually face our challenges head-on.
I think that’s what we need to do, we need to be confident about who we are.
“We will face a lot of limitations and sometimes we do feel that it is not a very woman-friendly society.
But as individuals, we should just set an example and make women feel confident that you can do amazing things as well.” UNI
