Srinagar, Aug 1 : All the Over Ground Workers (OGWs) involved in attack on Amarnath yatris on Srinagar-Jammu national highway in Anantnag that left eight pilgrims dead and over 20 others injured last month have been arrested, a senior police officer said.
We have arrested all the OGWs who provided support to militants who carried out the attack on the Gujarat bus on July 10 night, Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir Munir Ahmad Khan told reporters here this afternoon.
      In reply to a question Mr Khan said the OGWs are singing during the questioning. We have identified the militants responsible for the attack, the IGP said adding we are confident to get them (militants) soon.UNI
 


          SRINAGAR, JULY 11: Minister of State for Education, Technical Education, Tourism, Culture, Horticulture, Floriculture and Parks, Priya Sethi, today visited Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Soura to enquire about the condition of Yatris injured in Anantnag attack on Monday.
         The Minister was accompanied by MLC Surinder Ambardar.
          The Minister interacted with the injured pilgrims and their attendants and assured them of all possible support from the Government for their treatment.
          Terming the attack on Amarnath Yatris an act of cowardice, the Minister said that we stand in solidarity with the victims and condemn this heinous attack.
         The Director SKIMS briefed the Minister about the condition of the injured pilgrims and informed her that two patients Pushpa (age 45) and Lalita are undergoing treatment and are out of danger.
          She was further informed that Pushpa, who has suffered injuries in spinal areas, has been operated upon, while as Lalita, who has suffered multiple injuries was operated upon at District Hospital Anantnag and was referred to SKIMS for specialized treatment.

         Ms Sethi while expressing her sympathies with the injured prayed for early recovery of the injured pilgrims. 



SRINAGAR, JULY 11- Advisor to Chief Minister, Prof Amitabh Mattoo has condemned the attack on Amarnath pilgrims in which seven persons died while scores were injured.
In a statement, the Advisor, while expressing sympathy with the  bereaved families, said that the dastardly act is the handiwork of those elements who want to bring chaos to the state and is a crime against humanity and human values.

Prof. Mattoo appealed the people to maintain calm and not get carried away by the elements trying to flare up the communal passions.



SRINAGAR, JULY 11- Minister for Animal, Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries, Abdul Ghani Kohli has condemned the attack on Yatries in which 7 persons died and several others were injured at Botengoo in district Anantnag.
The Minister said that no religion allows such dastardly violence against unsuspecting civilians.  He said it is heartening to note that people across the board have come together to condemn this heinous act of violence.

In his condolence message, the Minister expressed sympathies with the bereaved families and prayed for eternal peace to the departed souls. He also prayed for early recovery of the injured.



Terms it dastardly act against humanity
SRINAGAR, JULY 11: Deputy Chief Minister, Dr. Nirmal Singh has strongly condemned the attack on Amarnathji Yatris at Anantnag in which 7 pilgrims died and several were injured.
Expressing sympathies with the families of the deceased, the Deputy Chief Minister said such dastardly acts of violence are handiwork of the elements trying to push the state into chaos and create a communal wedge between different communities. He said we should collectively condemn these dastardly acts which are a crime against humanity and human values.
It is pertinent to mention that the Deputy Chief Minister had yesterday visited the injured at district hospital Anantnag and enquired about their condition. He had also directed the concerned to provide every possible assistance to the injured.

The Deputy Chief Minister also visited Technical Airport to pay homage to the deceased and injured who were being airlifted to their native states.


SRINAGAR JULY 11: Governor N.N. Vohra, Chairman of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB), convened an emergency Yatra Security Review Meeting at 11:00 AM today after the terror attack on a bus carrying Shri Amarnathji pilgrims near Khanabal last night resulted in the death of 7 Yatris and 19 being injured. The meeting was attended by the Senior most Civil, Police, Central Armed Forces Police, Army, State and Central Intelligence Agencies. 
After a detailed discussion on what had gone wrong with the approach and procedures agreed to in the Yatra Security Review Meetings chaired by Governor on 15th May and 22 June 2017, Governor directed the heads of all the Security Forces to most critically review and ensure strict enforcement of extant Yatra Security arrangements and see that there was no let up whatsoever. He also advised the Security Forces Chiefs to maintain heightened surveillance and close co-ordination during the remaining period of the Yatra.

The meeting was attended by Shri B. B. Vyas, Chief Secretary; Dr. S.P. Vaid, Director General of Police;  Lt. Gen. J.S. Fadnavis, Rupani appreciate CM for her personal supervision of rescue ops
SRINAGAR, JULY 11: Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti today telephoned the Chief Ministers of Maharashtra and Gujarat and conveyed her deep sympathies to them on the death of seven yatries in a militant attack late last evening at Anantnag. The killed yatries in yesterday’s attack, it may be recalled, belonged to Maharashtra and Gujarat states.
 Condemning the incident, the Chief Minister extended sympathies of the people of the State to their Maharashtrian and Gujarati brethren on this dastardly act. She told Mr. Devinder Fadnavis and Mr. Vijay Rupani that she and all the citizens of Jammu & Kashmir feel that the said incident is a death blow to the multicultural ethos the State has been known for.  
Both the Chief Ministers thanked Mehbooba Mufti for her prompt response in reaching out to the affected yatries and supervising their rescue all through the night. They also appreciated the efforts being made by the State administration in facilitating the tourists and yatries from their States during this time.

Both Mr. Fadnavis and Mr. Rupani had a word of praise for the local people as well who unequivocally condemned the killings.  


Appreciates role of locals in reaching out to victims with all possible support


SRINAGAR, JULY 11: The State Cabinet which met here today under the chairmanship of Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti condemned in unequivocal terms the terrorist attack on Yatris (pilgrims) at Botengo, Anantnag terming it an attack on Kashmiri’s syncretic culture and pluralistic values. While expressing deep sorrow and anguish over the loss of precious lives, the Cabinet expressed its sincere condolences with the bereaved families and prayed for eternal peace to the departed souls. The Cabinet wished for speedy recovery of those injured in the gruesome attack.
Taking note of the outrage caused by the dastardly act across the state and the country, and widespread and intense expression of concern and regret, the Cabinet observed that such cowardly attacks will only strengthen the resolve of the Government and the society to fight violence with renewed commitment and vowed that such acts which strike at the roots of Kashmir's value system and traditional ethos will not be tolerated. The Cabinet took note of the fact that the people of the State have with one voice condemned the dastardly act.
The Cabinet resolved that with the cooperation of the people, the culprits of this heinous crime will soon be brought to book and the fight against perpetrators of violence will be carried to its logical conclusion.
The Cabinet expressed deep appreciation for the heroic role played by the local people of Anantnag, in providing immediate relief and succor to the victims of the attack. It noted with gratitude the help they rendered to the Yatris and the administration in managing the situation including the donation of blood.

The Cabinet observed two minute silence as a mark of respect to the departed souls before passing the above resolution.



SRINAGAR, JULY 11: Governor N.N. Vohra, Chairman of Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, visited the Technical Area, IAF Base, Srinagar, early today morning to meet the 19 Yatris who had been injured in the terror attack near Anantnag late last evening. After treatment, the injured pilgrims were airlifted to the Srinagar Airport this morning. 3 pilgrims, who are more seriously injured, are still in hospitals at Anantnag and Srinagar. Governor expressed his concern and sympathy to the injured Yatris and wished them a safe journey home. He also met Salim Bhai, the driver of the bus, which he had driven all the way from Gujarat to Kashmir, and saluted him for his courage in not allowing the vehicle to go out of control when he was repeatedly fired upon from the front and the windscreen had been totally shattered.
Governor paid respect to the seven pilgrims killed in this terror attack and laid wreaths on their coffins.

The injured pilgrims and the coffins of those killed are being carried to Ahmadabad in a special IAF aircraft which arrived from Delhi this morning. 


SRINAGAR, JULY 11: After the terror attack on Yatra pilgrims late last evening, resulting in 7 pilgrims being killed and 19 injured, Governor N.N. Vohra, Chairman of Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, held a mid-night meeting to review the course of the Yatra. It was decided that the pilgrimage shall continue without any diminution whatsoever and this decision was conveyed to all Camp Directors and to the Yatri Niwas, Jammu, from where pilgrims leave for the Valley in a convoy every morning.
        Today morning Governor held a meeting, in the Yatra Control Room, with Shri Umang Narula, CEO, Shri Jitendra Singh, Additional CEO, and other senior officers of the Shrine Board, to monitor the pace of today’s pilgrimage. It was reported to him that:
·        3289 pilgrims had left Jammu at 3 am in the morning for Pahalgam and Baltal Yatra Base Camps;
·        by 10.30 am today 18838 pilgrims had left for the Holy Cave Shrine from Chandanwari, Sheshnag, Panjtarni and Baltal Yatra Camps; 5556 pilgrims who left Chandanwari this morning would need to halt en-route and reach the Shrine the next day;
·        The Heli-services from Pahalgam and Neelgrath are operating normally as the weather is clear.

 Governor directed CEO to ensure that, with effect from today, twice a day review meetings are held.





SRINAGAR, JULY 11: After a midnight review meeting last night Governor N.N. Vohra, Chairman of Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, decided to convene an emergency Yatra Security Review Meeting at 11 am today at which all security aspects of the Yatra shall be reviewed. Unless weather disturbance delays his timely arrival from Delhi, General Bipin Rawat, Chief of Army Staff, may also join this important meeting or meet the Governor later in the day.



Visits injured tourists, reassures stranded Yatris; Pays floral tributes to slain Yatris
SRINAGAR, JULY 11: Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti visited Srinagar Airport this morning to pay floral tributes to the tourists killed in a militant attack near Botengo, Anantnag last night.
Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh also paid floral tributes to the slain tourists.
The Chief Minister consoled the bereaved families expressing deep anguish over the tragic death of their family members. She said the gruesome act of violence has shaken the edifice of Kashmiri ethos and culture and people across the board have condemned this gory act.
Earlier, Mehbooba Mufti along with Dr Nirmal Singh visited the injured tourists at Srinagar and Anantnag. She directed the hospital administrations at both the places to ensure best possible care to the injured.
The Chief Minister herself supervised the rescue and relief operations throughout the night at Anantnag. She visited the injured and stranded Yatris and assured them all help from the State Government.
Immediately on hearing about the incident, the Chief Minister alongwith Minister for Works, Mr Naeem Akhtar straightaway drove to Anantnag and took on spot assessment of the situation. She visited the place where the incident took place and also the District hospital where the injured were being treated.

Mehbooba Mufti, alongwith the Works Minister and the Divisional administration, sat with the stranded Yatris throughout night and supervised providing necessary help to them and reassuring them.
