SAMBA, MAY 18: Deputy Commissioner Samba chaired a sensitization session on Juvenile Justice Act and Rules here today.
Issues related to children in conflict with law and children in need of care and protection were discussed in the meeting.
The session was attended by SSP, Chairman CWC Samba, Project Officer (PO) ICDS, CMO   ,CEO ,ASP, DSWO , CDPOs, Police Officials, members of JJB and CWC and representatives  of NGOs.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC emphasised upon the participating functionaries and officers to ensure implementation of Juvenile Justice Act and Rules at the ground level and in letter and spirit.
He further directed for creation of mass awareness about this Act and asked the functionaries to involve nambardars, chowkidars and local representatives at village level for effective implementation of this Act.
Meanwhile, speaking on the occasion, Chairman Child Welfare Committee Samba, Mubarak Singh highlighted the importance of the Juvenile Justice Act and Rules. He suggested forming of sub committees at block and Panchayat level for mass awareness and effective implementation of the act.
Project Officer, ICDS also briefed about Juvenile Justice Act and Rules through a power point presentation.

Gurugram, Jan 8: A District Court here on Monday dismissed the bail application of a 16-year-old student who was accused of killing the Standard II pupil Pradyuman Thakur at Ryan International School at Gurugram.
On September 8, 2017, Pradyuman, a student of Ryan International School, was found with his throat slit in the washroom. It was alleged that the teenager had killed Pradyuman in a bid to get the school closed so that a parent teacher meeting could be deferred.
Additional Sessions Judge Jasbir Singh Kundu was hearing an appeal filed by the accused against an order of the Juvenile Justice Board( JJB). The Board had earlier rejected the bail application of the Class 11 Ryan International School student by saying in its order that the accused was mature enough to recognise the consequences of his actions.
Defense counsel submitted that the charge sheet in the matter was not filed within one month as prescribed in the Juvenile Justice Act and required documents were also not provided so bail may be granted on this ground alone. Defence further submitted that a sound surety will be produced before the court if bail is granted.
Counsel for CBI opposed the bail application by submitting that the mandatory period for filing a charge sheet is 90 days under the Criminal Procedure Code.
