Mumbai, Apr 15 :  Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan will join artistes from around the world for a virtual event to support healthcare workers who are battling it out against the coronavirus pandemic.

The actor took to Twitter on Tuesday to announce his participation in the One World: Together At Home', a virtual concert organised by the World Health Organization (WHO) and international advocacy organisation Global Citizen.

Curated by pop star Lady Gaga, the concert will stream on April 18 on multiple global platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Alibaba, Amazon Prime Video, Apple.

"Health care workers on the frontlines of the #COVID19 crisis need our support. That's why I'm standing in solidarity with @glblctzn and @WHO for One World: #TogetherAtHome a one-night special event on April 18," Shah Rukh wrote on Twitter.

The special event, 'One World: Together At Home' will see performances from Gaga, Adam Lambert, Billie Joe Armstrong, Camila Cabello, Chris Martin, David and Victoria Beckham, Ellen DeGeneres, Idris and Sabrina Elba, Jennifer Lopez, Jennifer Hudson, Lilly Singh, Oprah Winfrey, Paul McCartney, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Taylor Swift, Vishal Mishra among others.

Like many film personalities, Shah Rukh has been doing his bit to contribute to fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

On Monday, the star provided 25,000 kits of personal protective equipment (PPE) kits to the frontline medical staff in Maharashtra fighting to contain the novel coronavirus pandemic in the state. He has committed to donate the same to West Bengal.

Recently, he, along with wife Gauri Khan, offered their four-storey personal office space for treating COVID-19 patients.

The 54-year-old superstar had earlier announced various initiatives to help the country during the health crisis.

According to the Union health ministry, the death toll due to COVID-19 climbed to 377, while the number of cases in the country rose to 11,439.

Mumbai, Jun 26  :  As Shah Rukh Khan completed 27 years in Bollywood, the actor thanked his fans for giving him some space in their hearts.

The 53-year-old actor made his feature film debut in 1992's romantic drama "Deewana", which also starred Rishi Kapoor and Divya Bharti.

"I want to say a big thank you for 27 years in Indian cinema, which is exactly half my life time on Earth. I've ave been trying to entertain you for over 20 years, and some times I have succeeded, and many times I have failed. 

"So I want to thank you for bearing with me for so many years since I came on a motorcycle in a film called 'Deewana' singing 'Koi na koi chahiye' and rode right into your hearts. And you not only allowed me right into your hearts, but also allowed me to stay there for so many years. Thank you very much," Shah Rukh said in a video shared on his Twitter account as he recreated the hit song from the film.

The actor also used the opportunity to send across a message on traffic safety.

"It's a coincidence that my friends from a motorcycle company have sent me two motorcycles to try out the stunts I did in 'Deewana' 27 years ago. I am going to give it a shot, but this time there's a difference. I will make sure I am wearing a helmet. Always wear a helmet while riding a bike," he said.

Shah Rukh, who has not been having a good run at the movies for a while now, is currently taking time off acting.

Mumbai, Oct 17 (PTI) Superstar Shah Rukh Khan says he never listens to a script and rather chooses to understand the filmmaker's vision while choosing a film.


"I normally, and even till date -- which might finally, ultimately, 75 years from now lead to my downfall -- never listen to a script. I listen to the heartbeats of people I work with. There are young actors who sit with me and say 'Sir you left that script, it was so amazing!' 

"I never understand a script. I can say this openly, cross my heart and say, I've never understood a script. I've understood the script maker or filmmaker at the end of the whole pages of dialogues," he said.

The actor was speaking at a special celebration to mark 20 years of "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai", along with director Karan Johar and co-stars Kajol and Rani Mukerji, Tuesday night.

Shah Rukh said he remembers the first time Karan narrated the story of "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai" to him while he was shooting for "Chahat". 

"The story he narrated to me in that hotel, on the steps of 'Chahat' shoot was crap and nonsense. Utterly not like the film you finally saw. He is a man of words so he actually thought he impressed me with that crap story...

"Till date he feels I don't remember that story. Then later when he narrated the script along with Kajol, and both of them kept crying in my room." 

The actor said he is glad he never understood the script otherwise he would've ruined it with his inputs. 

"I didn't realise the story during 'Chahat' narration, and not when they both narrated to me later. I'm glad I didn't hear the story and just went with it otherwise it wouldn't be as great a film as it is because with my inputs it would be trash," he quipped.

At the event, Karan said he had to struggle a lot to cast for Tina's part as he had written the role for Twinkle Khanna, who turned it down.

"Twinkle's mother called me and said she won't do the film and I was shattered. I had approached all the leading actresses back then but all had refused," Karan said. 

The filmmaker then met Rani on Aditya Chopra and Shah Rukh's suggestion and narrated her the first half of the story. 

"She called me in the room and said 'How are you going to convince everybody that Shah Rukh likes me over Kajol because they are the eternal love pair.' I told her to trust me and go with it," Karan said. 

Rani said though she was a newcomer on set, she was not treated like one.

"I was a newcomer then and the love I got from them was very special. Though there were big stars in the film, Yash uncle and Karan never treated me unequally. That was very special. The kind of love and attention I got from Karan was so touching," she said.

Guwahati, Jul 28: Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has appreciated the use of his signature romantic pose of outstretched arms by the Assam Police to create traffic awareness in the state.

Responding to an Assam police officer's tweet, Shah Rukh, popularly known as 'Badshah of Bollywood', tweeted yesterday "the best message I think this pose has conveyed. Please please follow traffic rules."

Jalukbari ACP Ponjit Dowerah had on Thursday on his twitter handle posted a graphic with the message: "The universal pose of @iamsrk has touched all down the ages, but please read the message also #FollowTrafficRules @MorigaonPolice @Darrangpol @cachar_police @KamrupPolice".

The graphic has a silhouette of 'King Khan' with one of his outstretched hands holding a placard reading "Traffic niyam ka kripaya palan kare" (please follow traffic rules) and a vehicle with a driver in front.

The Assam Police has been using the social media to create awareness about social issues and also on road safety. (PTI)

Mumbai, Jun 27 : Anushka Sharma has finished shooting for her next "Zero" and thanked the director Aanand L Rai and co-star Shah Rukh Khan for taking her along on the journey.


The 30-year-old actor took to Twitter to share the news.

"'Zero' is all heart. 'Zero' is these two wonderful people and everything they've endeavoured to create. 'Zero' is me going on this journey with them. What a pleasure it's been. 

"Big hug @aanandlrai and @iamsrk for your belief and to #KatrinaKaif for being the amaze one that she is! #ZeroWrap," Sharma tweeted, alongside a photograph of the trio.

Last week, Khan, who plays the lead as a vertically-challenged man in the film, wrapped up the film.

The movie also stars Katrina Kaif and R Madhavan.

New Delhi, Jan 8: After her marriage to cricketer Virat Kohli and their subsequent trip to South Africa, Bollywood actor Anushka Sharma has returned to Mumbai to resume work on her film projects, trade sources said on Monday.
Anushka, who recently tied the knot with Virat in a hush-hush ceremony in the Italian city of Tuscany which were followed by two grand receptions in Delhi and Mumbai, returned to Mumbai last evening.
Anushka was accompanying Virat to Cape Town, where the Indian cricket team is currently playing against South Africa.
The actor is scheduled to begin shooting on her next project, Anand L Rai's 'Zero', co-starring Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif.
Shah Rukh, who happens to be Anushka's first co-star in Bollywood, decided to welcome her back with a bouquet full of flowers.
Anushka took to Instagram to share her happiness.
"Great to be back on set.. Thank you for this floral welcome guys!! Lots of love,' she posted on the social media site.
The bouquets also had three photos of the newly-wed couple- from their ad shoot, engagement ceremony and honeymoon.
Anand Rai's 'Zero', which brings together the trio of Shahrukh, Katrina and Anushka after 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan', is scheduled for release on December 21 this year. UNI

Panaji, Nov 20: The 48th ​International Film Festival of India​ (IFFI) will begin today evening here which will be inaugurated by bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan.
Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Smriti Irani will be present at the inaugural function to be held at Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium in Bambolim. Around 200 films from 82 countries will be screened during the nine-day extravaganza. Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Smriti Irani, Goa Governor Mridula Sinha and Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar among a host of dignitaries will be present at the inaugural function to be held at Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium in Bambolim. Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan will be honoured with personality of the year award at the festival. This year​,​ Canada is the focus country and will be presenting a package of its 8 best ​recent ​films. Acclaimed Canadian filmmaker Atom Egoyan will be honoured with a lifetime achievement award at (IFFI). ‘Beyond the clouds’ by legendary Iranian filmmaker Majid Majidi will be the opening film, while the Indo- Argentine film Thinking of Him by Pablo César will be the closing movie. Children of Heaven fame and the Oscar-nominated director Majid Majidi will be present for the screening of his latest directorial venture Beyond the Clouds ​which was entirely made in India. Twenty six feature films and 16 non-feature films belonging to different languages, regions and cultures will be screened in the Indian Panorama Section of the festival. Vinod Kapri directed Hindi film Pihu will be the opening movie in the feature film category, while Pushkar Puran by Kamal Sawroop will open the non-feature film category of the Indian Panorama. IFFI will also screen two movies- Hindi Medium and Secret Superstar for the visually impaired persons with special audio described technology. Seven award winning films from BRICS countries will also be screened at the festival. Kolkata, Nov 10: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is going to inaugurate the 23rd Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF) today at the Netaji Indoor Stadium.
KIFF 2017 will be inaugurated by Amitabh Bachchan. Shah Rukh Khan is the special guest, Mahesh Bhatt, Kamal Haasan and well-known British film director Michael Winterbottom are the distinguished guests, and Kajol and Kumar Sanu are the guests of honour. The festival proper is going to take place from November 11 to 17. Like every year, film-lovers are going to have a feast of the world’s best cinema. As the tagline for the festival goes, ‘Bengal Welcomes World Cinema’. 143 feature films, 87 short films and 51 documentary films from 53 countries are going to be featured. Film personalities (actors, directors, producers, etc.) from 20 countries will be attending the festival, whose films are being screened. There will be sections like Retrospectives, Centenary Tributes, and others. Among the films of Winterbottom that to be screened are Trishna, On the Road and Welcome to Sarajevo. Another attraction for film connoisseurs will be the screening of the famous French director, Jean-Luc Godard’s 1986 made-for-television film, Rise and Fall of Small Film Company, the first screening of the film in India after its restoration. This is being considered by film buffs to be a watershed moment for an Indian film festival. Other attractions for connoisseurs are the Satyajit Ray Memorial Lecture, seminars, interactive sessions, exhibitions and special adda sessions. The prestigious lecture will be delivered by Rachel Dwyer, a professor of Indian Cultures and Cinema at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London. Screening is taking place at 12 venues – Nandan 1, 2 and 3, Rabindra Sadan, Sisir Mancha, Navina Cinema, Star Theatre, Mitra Cinema, Inox at Salt Lake City Centre 1 Mall, Purbashree Auditorium at Salt Lake EZCC, Nazrul Tirtha and PVR Mani Square. At Ms Banerjee’s initiative, a few years back, KIFF was made a competitive film festival, with the Golden Royal Bengal Tiger award being given to the best film by a woman director and the best woman director. Kolkata, Nov 2: Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan fondly known as the king of hearts who turns 52 today, has been receiving immense love from the audience and has given some path breaking performances in the last 25 years.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today wished Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan on his birthday.
"Very happy birthday to you @iamsrk Wish you all health and happiness in future," Ms Banerjee posted on her social networking page.
The Superstar is known to share a very warm relation with Ms Banerjee.
While SRK likes to address her as Didi, the chief minister is known to refer to the Brand ambassador as Bhai (brother).
The actor is the West Bengal’s brand ambassador and turned 52 today.
As the Bollywood's superstar turns another year older, his family and friends took off to Alibag to bring in his birthday with early celebrations last evening.
While many friends and his family were by Shah Rukh Khan’s side for the major part of the day, a few others dropped by later.
The superstar blew out 52 candles on his birthday cake at midnight yesterday but ahead of that it was party time with friends! You say the word 'party' and Karan Johar is there. So are Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt, Katrina Kaif, the Arora sisters - Malaika and Amrita, Sidharth Malhotra and Farah Khan, all of who feature in jealous-worthy snippets from the guests' Alibaug diaries.
While the revelries carried on inside, SRK proved he is media’s favourite superstar not without a reason.
The birthday boy obliged the gathered paparazzi with pictures as he greeted them along with a few more guests coming in.
