SRINAGAR, JULY 11: Sh. Mohd. Shafi Pandit, former Chairman, J&K Public Service Commission (PSC), called on Governor N. N. Vohra at the Civil Secretariat today.
Sh. Pandit informed Governor about the results so far achieved and the activities being presently undertaken to provide coaching to students who are preparing for the Civil Services Examination and for admission to IITs, particularly those belonging to the minority communities.
Governor urged Sh. Pandit, to vigorously continue his endeavours for promoting the prospects of youth, on all fronts.

SRINAGAR, JUNE 30: Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (PSC) today said that Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) Mains examination 2016 shall be held as per the already notified schedule in two sessions from July 02 to 27, 2018.
A statement of the PSC said that, “as of now, there seems no need to reschedule the examination since all the routes to Srinagar/Jammu are through for traffic and no reports have fortunately been received about submergence or inundation of any of the residential localities although, the habitations residing along the embankments of river Jhelum/Nallahs and in the low-lying areas have been advised to remain vigilant.”
In case it is felt necessary to take a review with regard to postponement or otherwise of the examination due to prevalent situation emerging due to incessant rains, the same shall be taken and given wide publicity for information of all concerned, the PSC said.
“The candidates are further advised to keep visiting the official website of the J&K PSC for updates,” the Commission said.
A total of around 8200 candidates, 4500 at Jammu Centre(s) and another 3700 at Srinagar Centre(s), are scheduled to take the examination. The Admit Cards are available for download from the Commission's website www.jkpsc.nic.in. The Candidates are advised to download their admit cards in advance.
Detailed date sheet has also been issued and can be accessed on the Commissions website.

SRINAGAR, JUNE 01: - A meeting of the Committee on Subordinate Legislation of Legislative Council was held under the Chairmanship of MLC Ashok Khajuria here today.
Legislators, Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo, Dr Shehnaz Ganai and Vikram Randhawa attended the meeting and gave their suggestions to further improve the functioning of the Committee.
Threadbare discussions were held on reply submitted by the Public Service Commission (PSC) as query raised by the Committee regarding selections and promotions made by the Commission besides present status of lists of pending cases in Supreme Court and J&K High Court.
While examining the papers submitted by the PSC, it was given out that five cases were pending in the Supreme Court and 740 cases in Jammu and Kashmir High Court, besides of total 534 selection matters around 92 have been disposed-off.
The Committee issued directions for Secretary Public Service Commission to brief the Committee about the status of pending court cases in its next meeting so that the Committee would take appropriate action in this regard.
Among others, Deputy Secretary, Council, Mohammad Yousuf Bhat and other senior officers and officials of Council Secretariat were also present in the meeting.

SRINAGAR, MAY 24: A meeting of the Committee on Subordinate Legislation of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council was held under the Chairmanship of MLC, Ashok Khajuria here today.
Legislators, Mohammad Muzaffar Paray, Dr. Shehnaz Ganai and Vikram Randhawa attended the meeting and gave their valuable suggestions to improve the functioning of the Committee and make it result oriented.
The Committee held detailed discussion on the rules, regulations and Act of J&K Public Service Commission (PSC). It was decided that the reply furnished by the PSC on the queries raised by the Committee would be discussed in its next meeting after scrutinizing by the members of the Committee.
The Committee directed the Council Secretariat to call Secretary PSC before the Committee to brief it about the latest status of pending Court cases of the PSC. The higher authorities of different concerned departments were directed to furnish their replies before the Committee within a stipulated time frame for the scrutiny of papers by the members of the Committee.
It was decided in the meeting that the next meeting of the Committee will be held on 1st June, 2018 at Council Secretariat.
Officers and officials of Council Secretariat were also present in the meeting.

Srinagar, Mar 7: All educational institutions remained closed as a precautionary measure for the third consecutive day on Wednesday in the Kashmir valley, where all examinations have been postponed following general strike and 'Shopian Challo' called by separatists on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (PSC) has also postponed all examinations of J&K Combined Competitive (Main) Examination, 2016 Wednesday.
The authorities had announced that all educational institutions in the Kashmir valley will remain closed till Wednesday as a precautionary measure.
The Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) comprising Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Moulvi Omar Farooq and Mohammad Yaseen Malik had called for a general strike on Wednesday against shifting of detenues from outside the valley jails. The JRL has also called for 'Shopian Challo' today against the Shopian incident where two Lashkher-e-Toiba (LeT) militants and four others were killed on Sunday evening.
All government and private educational institutions remained closed for the third day in the valley, including in Srinagar since Monday, when schools upto middle classes were to reopen for the first time after winter vacation. The High and High Secondary institutions, which reopened last month, also remained closed. The authorities have announced that all educational institutions will remain closed tomorrow also. 
The Kashmir University (KU) and Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) have also announced suspension of teaching classes. The KU and IUST further said that all examinations of the university, which were scheduled to be held today have also been postponed and new date will be announced later.
The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has postponed all the examinations scheduled for March 6 and 7.
“All the schools of Kashmir Division shall remain closed on 7 also and the scheduled papers for biannual examinations of 10th and 12th classes in the division are also postponed,” a statement of the Board said. Joint Secretary JKBOSE, Syed Rouf said the new dates shall be announced later.
Meanwhile, the J&K Public Service Commission has notified for the information of all the concerned candidates that the examination for papers in Zoology-II, Physics-II, Commerce & Accountancy-II and Management-II and Anthropology-II and Sociology-II of J&K Combined Competitive (Main) Examination, 2016 scheduled to be held on yesterday and today respectively have been postponed. The revised schedule for the aforesaid papers shall be notified separately. UNI
