   JAMMU, JUNE 18: Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta, who also holds the charge of Industries and Commerce department, today paid a surprise visit at SICOP, Gangyal to take stock of its overall functioning.
During the visit, the Deputy CM took a round of the various branches of the department located at SICOP including Testing Centre and Ware House, besides interacting with senior officers of the department to enquire about their roles and responsibilities.
The Deputy CM stressed on maintaining cleanliness in and around the office premises and emphasized on the need for proper record management for efficient performance of SICOP.
Meanwhile, he also inaugurated the road from Marble Market to Channi Himmat via Railway crossing.
Reiterating the commitment of the government for the overall development of the state, the Deputy CM exhorted upon the upgradation and expansion of basic facilities to provide all infrastructural facilities to the people and sought their co-operation in implementing the development programs at the ground level.
He said the government has laid full focus on development of infrastructure and providing better civic amenities to the people of the state. He also inspected the pending works under different schemes and asked the officers of concerned departments to gear up their men and machinery so that the works could be completed as soon as possible. 
In the day, the Deputy CM also interacted with the residents of D/C Block, Gandhi Nagar and listened to their demands and grievances related to the provision of better amenities and cleanliness in parks, covered lanes and drains and stoppers for speeding vehicles.
The residents also requested for bringing a mother industry to the area to help fight employment problem and bringing ancillary industries, creating CTPs and ZLDs for treating hazardous industrial waste, removing rotaries from main chowks/crossings to solve traffic problem, installation of webcams and intelligent traffic lighting systems for peak and non-peak hours.
Deputy CM said that an Open Gym would be established in Park No.15 and assured that whatever has been brought into his notice would be taken up with the concerned authorities for appropriate action.
Prominent among those present on the occasion included senior KAS Officer Amit Sharma, Retd. IGP Sunil Sharma, Neerja, CA RishuKawatra, Deepti and Ritika.


Minister visits Shrine to take stock of developmental works 
SRINAGAR, MAY 22: Terming Hazratbal shrine as the symbol of spiritual soul of Kashmir, the Minister for Tourism Tassaduq Hussain Mufti stressed for preserving aesthetic values of the Shrine in its beautiful setting and unique architecture.
The Minister visited the Shrine to take stock of developmental works being executed by various agencies under the Integrated Development of Hazratbal Shrine.
 Minister of State for Housing & Urban Development, Asiea Naqash, Vice Chairman of J&K Wakf Board Nizamuddin Bhat, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Syed Abid Rashid, Director Tourism Mahmood A Shah and officers of the concerned departments also accompanied the Minister.
During the visit, the Minister inspected various areas of the shrine and sought details regarding the progress of the work. He also directed experts to see if further improvements can be made to the site plan.
Expressing his disappointment over what he termed as laidback attitude of executing agencies including INTACH, SICOP and JKPCC, the Minister stressed for improved coordination between various agencies for developing the shrine and its surroundings area in a holistic, integrated and eco-friendly manner.
Mufti while expressing his concern over the erection of temporary sheds and additional structures within the site premises said that it not only mars visual appeal of the shrine but also acts as major hindrance in the smooth link between several sectors of the site. 
He also called for conducting proper research and employing consultants before erecting mechanized tensile structures at the entrance and courtyard. He said that the construction should not distort the aesthetic value of the structure. 
The Minister stressed on conservation of heritage associated with the entire place and plan its sustainable development in such a way that it will broaden the tourist experience.
The Minister said that the plan should focus on needs and concerns of all stakeholders and ultimately be aimed at enriching religious and spiritual tourism experiences.


SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 26: Sh. Ali Mohammad Mir, Vice Chairman J&K Small Scale Industries Development Corporation Ltd., called on Governor N.N. Vohra at the Raj Bhavan.
      Sh. Mir informed the Governor about the activities being pursued by the Corporation to ensure uniform and sustained growth of the SSI sector in the State.
      Governor advised Sh. Mir to urgently initiate the required steps to encourage start- ups and also bring an increasing number of entrepreneurs within the ambit of its marketing scheme. Governor stressed the Corporation’s responsibility to support the local handicrafts industry by supplying quality raw materials and procuring the finished products. He also cautioned that the Corporation must strictly follow the Board meetings and AGM are held timely and regularly in accordance with the Companies Act.




Inaugurates-Rs-850-cr-modernized-Pampore-Joinery-Mills
SRINAGAR, AUGUST 09: Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti today laid the foundation stone of an industrial estate at Wyun (Pampore) which would be developed by SICOP at an estimated cost of Rs. 29.31 crore.
The Industrial Estate would be set up over an area of 272 kanals of land which would make up for 149 units and it would be part of a larger Institutional Area being developed there. This has been done by the State Government to address the unit holding issues of young entrepreneurs and ensure single window marketing facility for their products.
On the occasion, representatives of business community also met the Chief Minister. They thanked the Chief Minister for smoothening the process of granting NoC for setting up of industrial units in the State. They also thanked her for the direction to set up land bank in the State while demanding early notification of procedures under SGST.
A deputation of local Auqaf committee also met the Chief Minister on the occasion and sought development of a playfield on the nearby piece of land and augmentation of the local health centre.
          Mehbooba Mufti also inaugurated the modernized Pampore Joinery Mills which has been accomplished at a cumulative cost of Rs. 8.50 crore. Under the modernization project latest machinery has been installed to improve the quality and quantity of the produce and it is expected that after this the joinery Mills would be making an annual profit of Rs. 5.33 crore during the second year of operation. The modernization project has been completed in record time of 18 months.
The Chief Minister went round various units of the Joinery Mills and even inaugurated the showroom. She evinced keen interest in the wood works put on display and directed proper and creative designing of the products.
The Chief Minister also met deputations of several employees of these Corporations and sought their feedback.

SRINAGAR, MAY 15: Dr. Ali Mohammad Mir Monday took charge as new Vice Chairman J&K Small Scale Industries Development Corporation Limited (SICOP). He was welcomed by the Managing Director and other Senior Officers of the Corporation. 
On the occasion, the Officers of the SICOP assured the VC of their full support for the Development and uplift of small scale industries sector.

Dr. Ali said that with the cooperation of the officers and officials of the Corporation, he will leave no stone unturned to improve the growth of industrial sector in the state.
