JAMMU, JANUARY 18: Minister for Works (Roads & Buildings), Naeem Akhtar informed the house that around 47 road projects, worth Rs 83.24 crore, taken up under NABARD/CRF and State Sector are in progress in Sonawari Constituency.
 He said the projects are at different stages and Rs 4.45 crore has been spent till ending 2017 against a total release of Rs. 5.20 crore.
          Replying to a Question by Mohammad Akbar Lone, the Minister further informed that work on construction of Engineering College at Safapora is in full swing and some of its components stand completed. He further informed that two persons namely Zahoor Ahmad Rather s/o Abdul Rashid Rather r/o Ajas Bandipora and Mohammad Yaseen Bhat s/o Abdul Gaffar Bhat r/o Safapora Ganderbal have been engaged as piece workers for the said project and an amount of Rs.2.30 crore has been released in their favour, said the Minister.

           Replying to a specific query by the Member, the Minister said that all works have been taken up for execution after following proper tendering process.

          BANDIPORA, DECEMBER 21: Member Legislative Council, Yasir Reshi and District Development Commissioner Bandipora, Sajjad Hussain, along with a team of officers today visited various areas of Sonawari to review the pace of various developmental works there.
          The visit was a follow-up of directions of Chief Minister's decisions, which she took during December 3 Public Durbar at Bandipora.
            During the tour, the MLC and DDC inspected PHC Sumbal and went around various blocks to assess the available facilities there. They also interacted with the patients, medical and paramedical staff and passed directions to the Medical Superintendent to further improve the patient care facilities.
          They visited Vangipora and identified land for playground under the C M's commitments for the area.
          Reshi and DDC visited Arampora, Zalpor, Nowgam, Inderkoot and other villages during which people projected various demands before them.  Both the dignitaries gave the public deputations a patient hearing and assured them that all of their genuine grievances would be looked into for prompt redress.
        At Nowgam Junction, while taking cognizance of the public grievance regarding kahcharari, the MLC and DDC assured people that their demands will be considered sympathetically.
          They also inspected various ongoing road projects, health centres, water supply schemes, protection bunds, and school buildings during which they directed the officers and executing agencies to speed up the works for their timely completion.
           On the occasion, they were informed that 40 kilometer of road length has been macadamized in Sonawari constituency this year. Besides work is apace on NTPHC Nowgam at the cost of Rs 1.81 crore which is in final stages of completion.

          While inspecting the road work from Nowgam to Gund-i-Nowgam, coming up under PMGSY at a cost of Rs 3.50 crore, people expressed gratitude to the administration and the government for construction of this vital road link.

'Have brought about sea change in road communication network in just 4 months'
SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 28: Minister for Public Works Naeem Akhtar today said that in the last four months alone, Government has brought in a sea change in infrastructure development with works going on at record pace in every nook and corner of the state.
The Minister was addressing people during a daylong tour to different areas of Sonawari constituency on the advice of Chief Minister. A delegation of people from the area had called on the CM recently and apprised them of various issues after which she directed the Minister to visit the area. The Minister was accompanied by MLC Yasir Reshi and other officials.
The Minister visited Tregam, Gundkhalil, Shadipora and other areas where he inspected the works and interacted with people.
The Minister expressed his satisfaction at various works including road building and construction of other buildings. The Minister assured the people that all the demands of people regarding development will be taken care of. He said that for the first time government has done away with old development model by virtue of which many areas used to be left out of progress. He said that now government is uniformly developing every area in every nook and corner of the state.
The Minister said that it is for everybody to see how much work has been accomplished in the last four months as the government got a chance to work in a peaceful atmosphere. He said that public assets have been created at a record pace during this time and there is brisk construction activity everywhere with every project given a deadline for completion. The Minister said that the development will get further boost as new projects under ADB and World Bank are rolled out soon.

People expressed their happiness at the developmental activities in their area. He took the Minister and MLC in a procession and facilitated them at various locations.
