DODA, MAY 18:  To mark the culmination of Swachhata week, an awareness programme was organized by the Rural Development Department, Block Bhagwah at Government Higher Secondary School, here today.
          The programme was organized to create awareness among the public regarding harmful effects of polythene use.
         ACR Doda, Tariq Naik was chief guest on the occasion. Besides Tehsildar, BDO block Bhagwah and other officials were present on the occasion.
         A large number of students carrying banners and placards depicting ill effects of polythene participated in the programme. A debate competition was also organized and the winner was felicitated by the chief guest.
             ACR while speaking on the occasion sensitized the students about the harmful and hazardous effects of polythene and urged upon them to sensitize others to check its use. He laid emphasis upon the use of jute bags and other alternatives in place of polythene. 

       The programme ended with a vote of thanks by BDO Bhagwah Muddasir Naik.



REASI, MAY 17: A huge public rally was taken out by Rural Development Department to mark conclusion of Swachhta Saptah here today.
ADC Babu Ram, Joint Director RDD Jammu, Champa Devi, ACD M.Y. Malik, District Panchyat Officer, BDOs besides other officers and officials were present on the occasion
The rally was taken out from Trintha which passed through Gita Nagar and Gran More areas and finally culminated with an awareness programme at Gita Nagar.
The officers interacted with the local people and educated them about the need of avoiding use of polythene bags besides maintaining a clean and green environment.

 DODA, MAY 17:  The Swachhata week organised by the Rural Development Department to create awareness among the general public regarding ill effects of polythene use besides importance of a clean environment concluded here today.
          The programme started with flagging off a huge rally of school children carrying banners depicting disadvantages and hazardous effects of polythene use which after passing through the town culminated at HSS boys. Around 2000 students from GHSS Boys Doda, GHSS girls Doda, Green Model HSS Doda and Shaheen public school HSS Doda participated in the event. Besides rally, a debate and a painting competition was also organised on the theme "to save Human life and ecology".
MLA Shakti Raj Parihar, who was chief guest on the occasion, highlighted the need of avoiding use of polythene bags which not only destroys the environment but poses a serious threat towards human health.
Deputy Commissioner, Bhupinder Kumar, who also spoke on the occasion and urged upon the people to participate in large numbers in such campaigns to make the district pollution free.



UDHAMPUR, MAY 17: A large number of students of Government Higher Secondary School, Majalta today took out an awareness rally against polythene use to mark culmination of Swachhta Week being organized by Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj.
Holding placards and banners in their hands, the students passed through the streets and created awareness regarding the serious threats that polythene could pose both to Health and Environment.
 The rally was led by District Development Commissioner, Niraj Kumar.
Earlier, an awareness programme was organized at the school in which students were sensitized about the harmful effects of polythene use.
Speaking on the occasion, the DDC asked the students to create awareness about various health hazards caused by the use of polythene. He emphasized upon use of jute bags or paper bags as an alternative to polythene bags.
The DDC further said that the drive against polythene use would continue till the town becomes polythene free and sought cooperation from the students and the officers in this regard.
Students of the school also expressed their views on the topic and were later felicitated by the DDC.
The awareness rally was followed by an anti-polythene drive at Garhi in which   various shopkeepers were sensitized about the ill effects of polythene use and jute bags were distributed among them by the Rural Development Department. A large number of polythene bags were seized during the drive.
Besides, another rally was also taken out on the occasion in which large number of men and women participated and similar drives were carried out at Latti, Ramnagar, Majalta and adjoining areas in the district.
SSP Udhampur, ACD, District Panchayat Officer, Officers from Pollution Control Board and Health department and other block level officers accompanied the students during the rally.
 The DDC distributed T-shirts and sachets among the students.
Meanwhile, a polythene collection drive was also conducted on the occasion.



 REASI, MAY 17 - To make rural masses aware about the  importance of cleanliness and ill effects of using Polythene, Integrated Watershed Management Project,  Reasi organised a series of Swacchta Abhiyan camps at village Sermegha, Panchayat Sersundwan, Hunder, Arnas, Bhaga, Gadi and Chinkah.
The camps were part of the campaign launched all across the state to celebrate Swacchata week.
Project Manager Reasi, District Level Technical Expert, social mobilisers of watershed management project briefed the participants about different components of the projects.
Calling upon people to maintain cleanliness, the Project Manager said that IWMP aims to conserve, rejuvenate and develop the degraded natural resources of the region, adding that while maintaining cleanliness, people have to ensure polythene free environment.
On the occasion, bio-degradable bags were also distributed among the people and children.      
The Chairman of the watershed committees and people from the villages along with school children participated in the camps.
