New Delhi, Mar 3: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang on Saturday discussed a range of bilateral issues, including defence, trade, atomic energy and agriculture, in an effort to take strategic partnership between the two countries a step ahead.
“PM @narendramodi and Vietnamese President Quang held fruitful talks and discussed steps to further strengthen comprehensive strategic partnership in defence & security, trade & investment, atomic energy, agriculture, S&T, tourism, oil & gas, as well as regional and global issues,” said Raveesh Kumar, Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson in a tweet.
Mr Quang arrived here on Friday on a 3-day state visit. 
Before coming to Delhi, he visited Bihar’s Bodh Gaya, a Buddhist pilgrimage site. 
Earlier, he met External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and held discussion over a range of issues. 
India-Vietnam trade stood at 6.24 billion dollars in fiscal 2016-17 and the two sides have agreed to raise this to 15 billion dollars by 2020. UNI 



New Delhi, Mar 3: Stating that Vietnam has an important place in India's framework of Act East policy and India's relations with ASEAN, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said both nations will explore opportunities in transfer of technology.
“We have decided that we will enhance cooperation in defence production and explore opportunities in transfer of technology. We will jointly work for an open, independent and prosperous Indo Pacific area where sovereignty and international law is respected,” said the Prime Minister at a joint statement. 
In the presence of both the leaders, 3-Memorandum of Understandings were exchanged. 
“We agreed to strengthen our relations in different sectors like renewable energy, agriculture, textiles & Oil & gas. In Oil & gas sector, not only we will strengthen our long standing bilateral relations but also work along with other nations on trilateral possibilities,” he added.
Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang also called for direct flights between capitals of India and Vietnam.

New Delhi, Mar 3: With the objective to take bilateral relations to a new scale, India and Vietnam on Saturday discussed on steps to strengthen comprehensive strategic partnership across all sectors.
Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang has arrived in India on Friday on a three-day visit to India at the invitation of his Indian counterpart President Ram Nath Kovind.
“EAM @SushmaSwaraj called on President of #Vietnam Tran Dai Quang. Discussion focused on steps to further strengthen our comprehensive strategic partnership by expanding cooperation across all sectors. #ActEastPolicy,” said Raveesh Kumar, Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson in a tweet.
President Quang had landed in Bodh Gaya in Bihar, a Buddhist pilgrimage site, earlier on Friday before reaching New Delhi.

Vietnam is among the larger recipients of scholarships offered under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) programme. UNI


New Delhi, Mar 3: Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang was on Saturday accorded a ceremonial reception at Rashtrapati Bhavan here.
The Vietnamese President was accorded a ceremonial welcome in the presence of President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
On this occasion, Mr Quang also inspected the guard of honour.
Mr Kovind, hosting President Tran Dai Quang, represents the fourth such visit by a President of Vietnam. The first occurred when Vietnamese President Ho Chi Minh met President Rajendra Prasad in February 1958. UNI
