Mumbai, Mar 22 :  Superstar Salman Khan on Sunday appealed to his fans to take the risk of coronavirus seriously and follow the government's call for observing social distancing.

In a video posted on Instagram, the 54-year-old actor started by lauding all those who are fighting the battle against COVID-19.

He urged people to follow the government advisories, saying people are mistaken if they think they cannot contract coronavirus.

"I want to appeal to everyone that the government is asking something, so please take it seriously and don't spread rumours. It is a problem with everyone for a long time that they believe it will not happen to them. Anyone can get infected with the coronavirus, be it in bus, train or in market place. So why do you want to take that risk," Salman said.

He asked people to not treat the lockdown as a public holiday and appealed to them to stay indoors.

"This is not a public holiday, it is a very serious matter. Stop doing all this and start wearing masks to protect yourself. Wash your hands regularly, keep yourself clean and maintain a distance from others.

"What is the problem in doing all this. If it saves countless lives, including your own, then why are you not doing it. Please do this as it is a matter of life and death. This is my request to all of you," the superstar said.

The country is observing a 14-hour Janata Curfew on Sunday, as appealed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The PM made a fervent appeal to all Indians to stay indoors as much as possible to avoid getting infected by coronavirus and called for the curfew on March 22 from 7 am-9 pm, saying no citizen, barring those in essential services, should get out of the house.

Celebrities such as Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Karan Johar, Akshay Kumar, Ayushmann Khurrana, Hrithik Roshan among others had previously applauded PM's statement on Janta Curfew.

Meanwhile, Ajay Devgn also shared a video message where he asked people to defeat the "biggest villain" -- coronavirus.

"Every film has two kinds of characters one hero and one villain. In real life also, you will find many such characters. Today, not just for India but for the whole world, the biggest villain is coronavirus. The biggest heroes are those battling this virus.

"There many people like cleaners and alert citizens who are playing supporting roles in this battle. But the most interesting thing is that we are the casting director of this movie. It is in our hands whether we want to become hero or villain. Hands clean, then you're a hero. Hands dirty, then you're a villain," Ajay said.

The actor lauded the government, the authorities and the police for their efforts towards safeguarding the lives of the people.

"We just have to give support to them. So support them and take care of yourself. Do not go out of your house without any reason. Stay away from crowd. Do not let coronavirus survive. Climax is fun when the villain dies," Ajay added.

Panaji, Sep 5: Superstar Salman Khan believes it does not matter how good one is as an actor, one cannot afford to fool the audience by being a "fraud" on-camera.

The 52-year-old star, who has a huge fan-base, says it is necessary for an actor to be real and give the audience an insight into their original personality.

"It is impossible to fake on camera. When you are playing a character, you can't fake. Whatever we do on-screen -- the dialogues, emotions and expressions -- they come from our personality. It is somewhere a part of us.

"Camera has the power to catch if you are a fraud. You can fool people for some time, but you can't fool all the people for all the time. It will come out one day. One may try hard to hide their real self, but it is impossible. You have to be yourself, otherwise people won't be able to relate with you and then there is no success," Salman said in an interview here.

The actor said the layer a performer wears while essaying a role becomes even thinner when they come on television as it is a medium which is closest to the audience.

"Whenever I am there on TV, it is the real Salman. There is no pretence. There is no 'dialogue baazi'. Whatever experiences I have had in my life, I share with people. What has troubled me and my parents, I share that as well because there is a direct connection between me and them," he added.

After the success of "Dus Ka Dum", Salman's hosting gig at "Bigg Boss" was well-received by the audiences. But the actor said (initially) it was not easy for him to show his real side on television as he was always surrounded by controversies.

"I was scared to do TV because I was in and out of jail. There were so many controversies and here I was showing my real self on television. It doesn't make much difference to me but when people call your parents and they tell them 'Salman did this and that', it just kind of messes them up and it troubles me. They know it is not true but still people do this..."

The "Sultan" star said his parents always get anxious whenever they see police around their house.

"One day some cops entered our building and my mom got anxious, she asked them 'what happened?' They told her there was fire on the fourth floor. This is the amount of stress they have."

The actor said it was his father, veteran screenwriter Salim Khan, who advised him to do television as he believed it was important for Salman to show his usual self on the camera.

"I shared my concerns with dad and he said, 'You improvise for your characters and they are different from you. But this is your own personality. Do you think you have any malice in your heart or you are some twisted person? He said, 'Go and show the world how you are in real. How you are with us, your siblings and your friends.' (After that) I felt it is okay to share my personality with viewers," he said.

Salman, who is currently shooting for Ali Abbas Zafar's "Bharat", will soon be seen hosting the 12th season of popular TV reality show "Bigg Boss".

The show will air on Colors channel from September 16.

New Delhi, Aug 7: Superstar Salman Khan has congratulated Priyanka Chopra for bagging a major Hollywood project but said he got to know about her exit from "Bharat" just 10 days before the shooting.

Director Ali Abbas Zafar had shared the news that Priyanka had left the project while hinting that it was because of her engagement with boyfriend Nick Jonas.

But there were reports of a fallout between Salman and the "Quantico" star, who has just bagged Hollywood film "Cowboys Ninja Vikings" opposite Chris Pratt

Talking to reporters at the trailer launch of his upcoming production "Loveratri", Salman said if they knew that she had signed a big film in Hollywood, they wouldn't have stopped her.

"We got to know about it at the end moment and that too 10 days before the start of shooting. We got to know that she wants to leave the film and she has gone home," Salman said.

The actor said Priyanka gave a "different reason" to them about leaving the film.

"That time some other reasons were given to us. That (Priyanka's rumoured engagement to Nick) might also be the reason but this (her Hollywood project) is also a reason. Whatever the reason, whether marriage or film, or she does not want to work in India or she does not want to work with me and in only Hollywood films and TV shows, it's hers," he said.

"We are happy and supportive about her doing really good work. So what if she is not working here. She is making India proud. If she does not want to work with Salman Khan, at least she is working with a big hero of Hollywood. So we are okay with that," he said.

Salman said after Priyanka left the project, they approached Katrina Kaif who agreed to do the film, despite being busy with Shah Rukh Khan-starrer "Zero" and Aamir Khan's "Thugs of Hindostan".

"When she told us that it is not working out for the reasons she gave us, then we straight away said 'ok. No problem. All the best' and we went for Katrina."

"Priyanka's dates were available and so we had a month. Katrina is doing 'Zero' with Shah Rukh and 'Thugs of Hindostan' with Aamir (Khan) and between all this she had to get the dates for another film with me after 'Tiger Zinda Hai'," Salman said.

The 52-year-old actor said he is happy that Katrina is now a part of "Bharat".

"We are really happy that she is a part of 'Bharat' because she is really hardworking and she is doing very well for herself right now. We are all thankful that she could adjust her dates," he added.

The first schedule of "Bharat", which also stars Disha Patani, wrapped today and the team will next travel to Malta for shooting.

Mumbai, Aug 7: Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali's spokesperson today said the director was not in talks with Priyanka Chopra for any project.

Days after Priyanka walked out of Salman Khan's "Bharat", reports emerged that she has also quit Bhansali's gangster drama movie, based on the life of female gangster Gangubai Kothewali.

"Sanjay Bhansali has a lot of love and regard for Priyanka Chopra, however, no such film has been discussed," the director's spokesperson said in a statement.

Bhansali and Priyanka have worked together on "Bajirao Mastani'" and "Mary Kom". Priyanka also did a special song for his film "Ram-Leela".

In Bollywood, the "Quantico" star will next be seen in Shonali Bose's "The Sky Is Pink" opposite Farhan Akhtar.

Mumbai, Jul 27: Director Ali Abbas Zafar has said that Priyanka Chopra has left his next project "Bharat", starring Salman Khan, due to a "very special" reason.

The 38-year-old director did not elaborate much on the "reason" but hinted that it has to do something with her romance with American singer Nick Jonas.

"Yes Priyanka Chopra is no more part of 'Bharat' and the reason is very very special , she told us in the Nick of time about her decision and we are very happy for her...," Zafar tweeted.

"Team Bharat wishes @priyankachopra loads of love & happiness for life," he added.

The film recently went on floors with Salman and actor Disha Patani starting to shoot for it.

Zafar had shared recently a sneak peek from the film that showed Salman entering a "ring of fire" on a bike in a circus.

The film, which will be shot in Abu Dhabi, Spain and India, will feature the superstar sporting five different looks spanning 60 years, wherein a crucial part will showcase the actor in his late 20s, looking much leaner and younger.

"Bharat" is an adaptation of 2014 South Korean film "Ode To My Father". It is produced by Atul Agnihotri.

Priyanka has another Bollywood project in her kitty, "The Sky Is Pink" with Farhan Akhtar.

Mumbai, Jun 21 : Living in the make-belief world of movies can be tricky but actor Ranbir Kapoor says the way to navigate is by being absolutely real in front of the audience, like Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt.

Khan and Dutt, both close friends, have been in the industry for more than 25 years. The actors, however, have also courted controversies.

Asked what has he imbibed from their lives as an actor and as a person, Kapoor says he learnt the ability to be real, come what may.

"With Salman sir and Sanju sir, who are such loved superstars, it is very important to be who you are, irrespective of doing anything right or wrong. They are two actors who really are who they are. They probably made mistakes in their lives and probably paid a price for it.

"But you know who they are as people and I think that's what is important. You cannot manipulate an audience, you cannot live a PR filled life or try to be someone you're not, give impression to people 'Oh, I am so great'. You just have to be who you are," Kapoor told PTI in an interview.

The "Jagga Jasoos" actor believes that in the end the audience wants to be entertained by movies and as an actor, all he wants is people to like him for his work, which is of utmost importance.

But being real in front of the audience for actors can be tricky and Kapoor feels it is "way more difficult to be emotionally naked than physically."

The chance to be emotionally vulnerable came to him with Rajkumar Hirani's "Sanju", a biopic on Dutt.

"'Sanju' was such a part where I got so much opportunity. It had so much in the part, as an actor you get turned on and say 'wow'. It is hard, but sometimes you have a cushioned pillow in the form of a filmmaker, Rajkumar Hirani.

"You feel comforted, there is so much trust, you want to surrender and be honest to the moment completely," he says.

When the script -- written by Hirani and Abhijat Joshi -- came to him, every aspect of Dutt's life shocked him.

"The Sanjay Dutt you and I know is very different from what you will see in the film. Someone who is scared, made mistakes, who you'd probably think is immature, selfish. To understand him from this perspective was new, endearing and exciting.

"You may have your own opinion about him after you see the film, but it is an honest portrayal of a very troubled man who has made a lot of mistakes," Kapoor says.

"Sanju", which features actor Paresh Rawal as Sunil Dutt, is the story of the ups and downs in the life of the "Munnbhai" star and focuses on the relationship between him and his father.

For Kapoor, the father-son dynamic hit closer home.

"I really identified with that dynamic between Sanju sir and Sunil sir, because me and my father have a similar relationship. There is a lot of fear, distance, admiration, respect and love. We both are actors.

"The three backbones of 'Sanju' are the father-son dynamic, the friendship dynamic and a question mark," he says.

"Sanju" is slated to release on June 29. PTI

Mumbai, May 29 : Salman Khan has become one of the most bankable TV hosts with successful stints on "Dus Ka Dum" and "Bigg Boss" but the actor says he was initially hesitant to show his real personality.

The 52-year-old actor actor, who made his TV debut as the host of "Dus Ka Dum" about nine years ago, said he turned to his father, noted writer Salim Khan, for advice.

"This was my TV debut and during that time there was negativity around me. I was very scared to show my original personality on 'Dus Ka Dum'. I thought TV is the most powerful medium...so I was really scared," Khan said.

"I asked my father if I should go and do it, the show will have the common man and I was really scared of being myself. He said 'who else do you want to be? This is who you are, go show the world who you are. If it's accepted, good, if not, change yourself'," he told reporters.

The actor was speaking at the launch of new season of "Dus Ka Dum" last evening.

The "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" star said unlike films, TV shows lay bare the personality of the host and he is glad he found acceptance with the audience.

Despite doing several blockbusters and playing memorable characters, Khan said he was surprised when he saw people calling him "Dus Ka Dum" in small villages.

It was then the actor realised the power of TV and has been advocating the same to other actors to venture into the small screen, but, he says, they are not too keen.

"They think people will look down if they do TV after films. They'd rather not work than make those lakhs of rupees on TV that they will never make in the film industry," he said.

Khan returns as the host of "Dus Ka Dum" for its new season, which premieres on June 4 on Sony.

Asked who he thinks can host the show apart from him, Khan said, "Everyone is competent. I think Shah Rukh could very easily host the show, Aamir, Akshay and Sanju (Sanjay Dutt). Apart from that, I don't know." PTI
Mumbai, May 29 :  Superstar Salman Khan's upcoming film "Race 3" has already become a 'meme favourite', but the actor is not bothered by it as he does not consider people with "one or two" followers ranting against the movie as "trolling".

The trailer of "Race 3", the third installment in the thriller franchise, was trolled on Twitter after its release two weeks ago, with many memes being made on the film and its dialogues.

At the launch of the new season of "Dus Ka Dum", when a reporter asked about the trolling of "Race 3", Salman shot back, "Are you trolling it?"

When the reporter said "a lot of people are" the actor said, "Those guys with one or two followers? That's trolling? Who's controlling that trolling, you know? No? How sad. When guys with one, two, three, four followers troll, it isn't trolling."

The actor had also given in to the meme phenomenon by mouthing the Daisy Shah dialogue from the film, "Our business is our business, none of your business", in a short video.

At the event, Salman, 52, subtly referred to the trolling of his recently released song, "Selfish" penned by him, has received.

When a reporter, before posing his question, said, "Hi Salman," the actor replied to him in a musical manner, humming, "Hello, Hi, How are you?" and then quipped, "This song is also written by me. It hasn't been released. It will be released soon and then get trolled."

Sony TV's "Dus Ka Dum" will premiere on June 4.PTI

During arguments, Salman's counsel Hastimal Saraswat and Mahesh Boda argued for the weakness of evidence and the good character of his client. They prayed to give the actor bail.

Salman Khan was on Thursday held guilty by a Jodhpur court in the blackbuck poaching case. While the court let off others actors in the 1998 case -- Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Neelam and Sonali Bendre -- Salman has been sentenced to two years of jail.

Another film that has a lot of stakes for the industry is the multi-starrer ‘Bharat’ featuring Salman in the lead.

The film is in pre-production and the work started on Bharat in February. It is expected to release on Eid 2019.
‘Dsabangg 3’ and ‘Kick 2’ are other films that re in the offing.
