Srinagar, Nov 30: An fierce encounter was on between militants holed up in a house and security forces since early Thursday morning in the central Kashmir district of Badgam, where authorities have suspended internet service.
A teenager was reportedly injured in the area. However, it was not immediately known if he was hit by a bullet during encounter or in demonstration.
Official sources said that on a tip-off about the presence of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militants, Army, Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir and CRPF launched a joint search operation in a village Fatlipora, Pakherpora in Charar-e-Sharief in Badgam district this morning.
However, when the security forces were moving towards a particular area in the village, militants hiding there resorted to indiscriminate firing with automatic weapons, they said, adding that security forces also retaliated, ensuing an encounter.
They said the residents in the area, where the encounter was going on, have been shifted to safe places.
Sources said that it is believed three foreign and one local militants of JeM are trapped in the area. 
Meanwhile, people at Dalwan and Pakherpora hit the streets and pelted stones on security forces and police personnel deployed to prevent demonstrators from moving towards the encounter site. Security forces also used force to disperse the demonstrators. Naka checking have been established on roads from Pulwama and all vehicles are being searched properly.
The internet service all all Cellular companies, including Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has been suspended as a precautionary measure to prevent any spread of rumours on the social network. UNI
