Delhi, Mar 8: There was no let up in acrimonious protests in the Lok Sabha
for the fourth consecutive day on Thursday as uproarious scenes and members
entering into the well of the House forced the Speaker Sumitra Mahajan to
adjourn the proceedings till noon.
As soon as the Speaker read out her brief message on the
occasion of International Women's Day, members from Telugu Desam Party (TDP),
Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS), Trinamool Congress and others rushed to the
well raising anti-government slogans.Members from AIADMK demanded setting up of Cauvery Water Management Board while Congress and Trinamool Congress MPs raised slogans demanding actions and satisfactory response from the government on the banking scams in which diamond merchant Nirav Modi was allegedly allowed to flee India.
Telugu Desam Party (TDP) members carried placards demanding Special Category status for Andhra Pradesh.
In her brief message, Ms Mahajan greeted the women in the India and across the world on the occasion of International Women's Day.
She also read out a few lines penned by herself as tribute to the inherent strength of Indian womanhood and said: "Nahi woh kisi ki shatru ya ari; woh hae Bharat ki naari (Someone who does not have any enemy and loves and cares for all is the Indian woman)".
She also said it is high time Indian women stop thinking about themselves as "abla (helpless) and should march on forward with their zeal and respect for culture and tradition.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar said the government is ready for discussion the banking scams under Rule 193 after the Question Hour.
However, as the listed questions could not be taken up, the Speaker adjourned proceedings till 1200 hrs. UNI
