Hyderabad, Dec 11 : TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao Tuesday dedicated the emphatic victory of his party to the people of the state and said the election results would enable it to play a crucial role in national politics.

"We dedicate this victory to the people of Telangana.

This is a positive vote for us," Rao, who is set to return as chief minister for a second term, told a press conference.

The Telangan Rashtra Samithi has secured a two-thirds majority, winning 81 seats out of the total 119 as per the latest vote count in the assembly elections.

The TRS was leading in six others, leaving the others way behind.

According to results and trends available at 5 pm, the Congress won 15 seats and was leading in four while ally TDP bagged two seats.

"We are going to play a very crucial role in the national politics...and we will show...we will give a new definition to the national political scenario," he said, as TRS workers broke into celebrations.

"Today's results...Telangana has shown the way to the whole nation. Today, Telangana stands (as) a non-Congress,non-BJP state," Rao added.

Rao has been one of the votaries of a broad-based non-BJP and non-Congress federal front, and the win would further fortify his position as a regional satrap.

Hyderabad, Aug 7: JD(U) president Nitish Kumar today reached out to Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, requesting the support of TRS for his party lawmaker and NDA candidate Harivansh Narayan Singh in the election to the post of Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha.

The Bihar chief minister rang up the Telangana Rashtra Samithi president this morning and made the request, according to Rao's office.

Rao told him he would discuss the issue with his party colleagues and take a final decision, it said.

Kumar's call comes as the NDA and the Opposition appeared to be heading for a showdown in the election. The Opposition has given a clear indication that it will contest the August 9 election.

In the upper house, the BJP-led ruling alliance lacks a majority.

According to Opposition sources, Tiruchi Siva of DMK, Vandana Chavan of NCP and nominated member K T S Tulsi are front-runners for the post.

The support of regional parties such as the AIADMK, BJD, TRS and YSR Congress are crucial in the poll.

The post of the deputy chairman has been lying vacant since June this year, following the retirement of P J Kurien, who had been elected to the upper house of Parliament on a Congress ticket from Kerala.

The current strength of Rajya Sabha is 244 and support of 123 members would be needed for a win in the full house.

The BJP is the largest party in the house with 73 members. Its allies JD(U), Shiv Sena, Akali Dal have six, three and three members, respectively.

Besides the nominated and independent members affiliated to it, the BJP is banking on the support of 13, nine, six and two members of the AIADMK, BJD, TRS, YSR Congress respectively, its floor managers said.

If all four parties support the NDA candidate, then the numbers add up to 126.

However, if parties like BJD or TRS abstain from voting, then things will become more precarious for the ruling alliance.

Both these parties had abstained during a vote on the recent motion of no-confidence against the government in the Lok Sabha while the AIADMK had voted with the treasury benches.

The BJP is hoping to get support of four of the six independent members and three of the four nominated members.

The Congress has 50 members.

The plenary to be held at the sprawling GBR gardens in Komapally on the outskirts of Hyderabad will also adopt a political resolution on the efforts of the TRS Chief for forging a federal front to bring about a qualitative change in politics.
The one-day plenary, coinciding with the party's foundation day, will discuss the current political situation in the state and the country and accordingly decide the future course of action .
It may be mentioned that in his efforts to forge a federal front, Mr.Rao had alreaday met his West Bengal counterpart Mamata Banerjee and former Prime Minister H.D.Deve Gowda. However, the TRS chief is yet to spell out the policies and programmes of the proposed front.
The other vital aspect to be watched during the meeting is what action plan the party will chalk out for the next general elections. UNI

New Delhi, Mar 28: The Question Hour in Lok Sabha was again a washout on Wednesday as the House had to be adjourned till 1200 hours over the continuous uproar caused by AIADMK members over the Cauvery Water issue.
As soon as the House assembled for the day, the AIADMK members trooped into the Well raising slogans and ventilating their demand for immediate setting up of Cauvery Water Management Board.
The Speaker Sumitra Mahajan started with the listed questions and a question pertaining to the Ministry of Communications was named. But as the agitating AIADMK members raised slogans and created a ruckus, the Speaker adjourned the proceedings of the House till noon.
AIADMK raised slogans, "we want justice" and "we want Cauvery Board'.
Unlike other days when members from Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), which has been disrupting Lok Sabha proceedings demanding increase in Muslim reservation quota in the state, are not entering into the Well since Tuesday.
The TRS leaders have announced that they would "participate in the debate" and also speak against the government when the No-Confidence motion moved by Congress and other opposition parties will be taken up.
Both the Houses of Parliament have failed to transact any major business since the beginning of the second part of the Budget session of Parliament on March 5. UNI

New Delhi, Mar 23: All eyes will be on BJP Parliamentary Party meeting here on Friday which will be addressed among others by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The dinner meeting at new BJP headquarters will come days after chairperson of Congress Parliamentary
Party Sonia Gandhi hosted a dinner for leaders of 19 non-NDA parties.
BJP chief Amit Shah will also grace the meeting, which will be presided over by Mr Modi.
"Our party MPs will be shown the new party headquarters. This will be the first such grand meeting," BJP spokesman Anil Baluni said.
All Union Ministers and Members of Parliament of both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha have been asked to attend the meeting.
Convening of such a meeting of BJP Parliamentary Party assumes significance as normally, the party MPs used to meet during the session - either weekly or fortnightly - in morning Hours in the Parliament premises only.
In April 2017, 32 allies of BJP and constituents of NDA had attended Prime Minister Modi's dinner meet where
essentially the NDA leaders had formed broad strategies for Presidential elections.
The meeting also comes close on the heels, BJP winning polls in Tripura and forming coalition governments in Meghalaya and Nagaland. But most striking of all, the BJP also lost a few crucial bypolls to Lok Sabha including politically-sensitive Goraphpur and Phulpur in Uttar Pradesh, Araria in Bihar and also Ajmer in Rajasthan.
There are also changes in political equations as 16-MP strong TDP has walked out of NDA and BJP's own tally
in Lok Sabha has nosedived to 274 from what was 282 in 2014 May.
Even other parties like Shiv Sena have been showing displeasure at the functioning style of BJP leadership towards the alliance partners and LJP leader and Union Food Minister Ram Vilas Paswan has counseled BJP leadership that they must ensure better coordination among NDA partners.
The BJP MPs meet would also come at a time when key regional players like Mamata Banerjee (Trinamool) and K Chandrashelhar Rao (TRS) have made a strong pitch for floating of a front of regional parties.
However, Mr Shah in a television interview asserted that TDP's decision to quit NDA will affect the alliance.
"If TDP has already decided to leave NDA what we have to say," he has said and maintained that as the chief anchor of the ruling front, the BJP never wanted anybody to walk out from the NDA. He dismissed notions that TDP quitting NDA has brought in an atmosphere of negativity against the saffron party-led alliance. UNI

New Delhi, Mar 22: The Lok Sabha was adjourned within minutes of assembling on Thursday till 12 noon after Speaker Sumitra Mahajan could not go ahead with the Question Hour due to Opposition uproar and protests over demand for immediate setting up of Cauvery Water Management Board and the TRS members insisting for increase in Muslim reservation quota in Telangana.
As soon as the House met for the day, Members from Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and AIADMK started sloganeering and rushed into the Well.
Lawmakers from Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) donning pink stoles wanted hike in reservation quota for Muslims in Telangana. They also carried placards, which said 'One nation, one law' and 'Link MG-NREGA to farm labourers'.
The AIADMK members also entered into the Well raising slogans for immediate setting up of Cauvery Water Management Board.
The Speaker called for taking up of listed questions and the first question pertaining to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways was named.
But the ruckus continued and nothing could be heard.
The Speaker said: "...No body wants to listen, no body wants to run the House".
Unable to conduct business, Ms Mahajan adjourned the House till 1200 hrs.
Both the Houses of Parliament have failed to transact any major business since the beginning of the second part of the Budget session of Parliament on March 5. UNI

New Delhi, Mar 20: The Lok Sabha was adjourned within minutes of assembling on Tuesday till 12 noon by Speaker Sumitra Mahajan after Opposition uproar and protests over Special Category Status demand for Andhra Pradesh and other regional issues.
As soon as the House met for the day, Members from Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and YSR Congress Party started sloganeering and rushed into the Well.
Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and YSRCP were carrying placards demanding Special Category status for Andhra Pradesh while lawmakers from TRS donning pink stoles wanted hike in reservation quota for Muslims in Telangana. They raised placards which said 'One nation, one law' and 'Link MG-NREGA to farm labourers'.
The AIADMK members also entered into the Well raising slogans for immediate setting up of Cauvery Water Management Board.
The Speaker called for taking up of listed questions and the first question pertaining to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs was named. The ruckus continued and nothing could be heard.
Unable to conduct business, Ms Mahajan adjourned the House till 1200 hrs.

New Delhi, Mar 16: Hours after Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and AIADMK of Tamil Nadu virtually played spoilsport to the no-confidence motion in Lok Sabha on Friday, even as the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) tried to reach out to K Chandrashekhar Rao led TRS, the Telangana ruling party ruled out supporting any such move.
A senior TRS leader said, while final decision on these political issues are decided by the party chief Mr Rao, so far the decision is "we will not support any such motion, because it is motivated by political consideration and gimmick".
Even, the Tamil Nadu ruling party AIADMK also did not seem to approve the idea of a no-trust motion against the Centre at this juncture.
"There were issues after the division of Andhra Pradesh. If there were issues all these years, then why were not they raised? This shows merely an opportunistic nature", Tamil Nadu Minister D Jayakumar said on TDP's decision to quit NDA and move no-trust motion.
Earlier, the TDP said it does not grudge the decision of the two Southern parties, including TRS to raise their regional issues and will talk to them to support the no-trust motion against Narendra Modi government.
"We will talk to TRS and AIADMK leaders on the issue of no-trust motion as we want a discussion in Parliament on how the assurance given to the state of Andhra Pradesh was not implemented", TDP leader Thota Narasimhan said here.
These comments from the leaders of TDP and TRS come after the House could not take up the motion as pandemonium prevailed and the Speaker Sumitra Mahajan said, the headcount of the supporters of the motion cannot be done when the house is not in the order.
The No-Confidence motion in the Lok Sabha can be accepted only if there is support of at least 50 members. The TDP has 16 Members and the YSR congress has nine MPs in the Lok Sabha.
The developments also indicate towards bitter political battle emerging in the Southern states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana where both the Chief Ministers N Chandrababu Naidu and Mr Rao are 'Telugu speaking' leaders and have had love-hate relationship in the past as well.
In fact, the TRS protest in Lok Sabha was led among others by K Kavitha, daughter TRS chief, as she carried placards along with her party colleagues and raised slogans demanding raise in reservation quota for Muslims and for linking MGNREGA scheme to the farm sector.
The TDP leadership decision to part ways with NDA was also seen as an attempt to retain the support base among the Muslims in Andhra Pradesh.
Few days back Telangana Chief Minister had also spoken in favour formation of an effective 'federal front' of regional parties and found the idea going down well with other regional players like Mamata Banerjee of Trinamool Congress.
Besides dealing with the TRS chief and his political machinations, the TDP supremo Mr Naidu is also seen as acting under pressure at times as the no-trust motion of TDP on Friday came a day after Jagan Mohan Reddy led YSR Congress Party had moved their no-confidence motion against the government.
As soon as the Speaker said she was duty -bound to take up the No-Confidence Motion, several Left,
Congress, Samajwadi Party and Trinamool Congress members and Asauddin Owaisi of AIMIM were up on their feet rendering support to the motion moved by the two Andhra-based parties.
But, Ms Mahajan said the House should be in order to take up the motion. She requested the slogan shouting AIADMK and Telengana Rashtra Samithi members who were in the Well, to return to their seats.
As the request from the Chair did not yield desired result, the Speaker adjourned the House till Monday. UNI

New Delhi, Mar 15: There was no let up in protests in the Lok Sabha for the ninth consecutive day as members from principal opposition Congress and NDA constituent Telugu Desam Party (TDP) carrying placards rushed to the well of the House creating pandemonium on Thursday.
As soon as the day's proceedings began, members also from AIADMK, Trinamool Congress and TRS were in the well trying to ventilate their respective grievances.
Speaker Sumitra Mahajan allowed first listed question of the day to be taken up. On a question pertaining to the Ministry of Rural Development, raising supplementary query, BJP lawmaker from Mathura Hema Malini wanted to know how many beneficiaries have been identified under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in Mathura district in Uttar Pradesh.
The Minister of State for Rural Development Ram Kripal Yadav was hardly able to reply amid the din. He said the government has so far sanctioned Rs 38,412 crore under the scheme. But as there was no improvement in the situation, nothing more could be heard in the din.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar urged the opposition members to go back to their seats so that House could function smoothly. "This is our Maha-panchayat," he said, referring to Lok Sabha and maintained that the sanctity of the House ought to be upheld.
However, continuous acrimonious scenes and slogan shouting yet again forced the Lok Sabha Speaker to adjourn the proceedings till 1200 hrs.
While members from Andhra Pradesh belonging to Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and YSR Congress Party entered into the well carrying placards demanding Special Category status for Andhra Pradesh, the Congress and Trinamool Congress members raised issues related to banking scams wherein diamond merchant Nirav Modi was allegedly allowed to flee India.
TRS members wanted increase in Muslim reservation quota in Telangana while AIADMK members sought immediate setting up of Cauvery Water Management Board.
Both the Houses of Parliament have failed to transact any business since the beginning of the second part of the Budget session on March 5.
On Wednesday, amid pandemonium and slogan shouting, the Lok Sabha passed the Budget 2018-19 while Demands for Grants and the Finance Bill were given nod without any discussion. UNI

New Delhi, Mar 8: There was no let up in acrimonious protests in the Lok Sabha for the fourth consecutive day on Thursday as uproarious scenes and members entering into the well of the House forced the Speaker Sumitra Mahajan to adjourn the proceedings till noon.
As soon as the Speaker read out her brief message on the occasion of International Women's Day, members from Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS), Trinamool Congress and others rushed to the well raising anti-government slogans.
Members from AIADMK demanded setting up of Cauvery Water Management Board while Congress and Trinamool Congress MPs raised slogans demanding actions and satisfactory response from the government on the banking scams in which diamond merchant Nirav Modi was allegedly allowed to flee India.
Telugu Desam Party (TDP) members carried placards demanding Special Category status for Andhra Pradesh.
In her brief message, Ms Mahajan greeted the women in the India and across the world on the occasion of International Women's Day.
She also read out a few lines penned by herself as tribute to the inherent strength of Indian womanhood and said: "Nahi woh kisi ki shatru ya ari; woh hae Bharat ki naari (Someone who does not have any enemy and loves and cares for all is the Indian woman)".
She also said it is high time Indian women stop thinking about themselves as "abla (helpless) and should march on forward with their zeal and respect for culture and tradition.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar said the government is ready for discussion the banking scams under Rule 193 after the Question Hour.
However, as the listed questions could not be taken up, the Speaker adjourned proceedings till 1200 hrs. UNI

New Delhi, Nov 10: Reacting sharply to the alleged "minority appeasement" of the Telangana government in declaring Urdu as the second official language of the southern state, BJP leader Dr Subramanian Swamy on Friday gave a clarion call to Hindus to unite and "throw out the KCR regime".
"I appeal to Hindus of Telangana to unite....Next elections forget about being Kamma and Reddy and vote unitedly and throw out him (Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao)," Dr Swamy told a television channel. The senior BJP leader said the TRS chief and the Telangana's decision is motivated by the theory that while Muslims can be led towards to vote as a 'block', the Hindus will continue to remain "divided". "....that is why he is not caring about Hindus," Dr Swamy said. The sharp reactions from the senior BJP leader came within minutes the news went viral that the Telangana government would make Urdu the "the second official language of the state of Telangana".
