Gorakhpur, Mar 2: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister
Yogi Adityanath enjoyed festival of colours here at Gorakhnath math after
performing rituals with sants and devotees on Friday. It was first Holi
celebration of Mahant Adityanath as UP CM.
Amid chanting of Vadic mantras, Hawan and Holika Dahan devotees spread ‘gulaal’ and flowers. Thousands of devotees thronged at math since last night and folk songs were rhymed whole night with ‘Dholak and Manjeera’. Mahant Adiyanath came out of math around 8 in morning and performed rituals with chief priest of temple Yogi Kamal Nath, secretary Dwarika Tewari, math purohit Acharya Ramanuj and other priests.
CM Yogi pasted tilak with ash of the Holika on devotees and enjoyed folk songs ‘Phagua’ in math. CM Yogi along with hundreds followers joined Narsingh Shobha Yatra which started from Ghantaghar and passed through entire city. Yatra procession, a 70 years old tradition, always lead by Mahant of the Math.
CM Yogi also distributed sweets and traditional ‘Gujhiya’ among devotees and children. Gulal, colours and flowers were thrown on people in Yatra. CM Yogi had warned people for not making any unpleasant move during Holi celebration amid fervour.
Adequate security arrangements were made for Holi celebration and Shobha Yatra procession in city. Whole city was divided into three zones and nine sectors and more than 6,000 policemen along with other security forces personals were deployed to deal with any untoward situation during celebrations.
