KUPWARA,
MAY 28: Deputy Commissioner Kupwara Khalid Jahangir today visited
Pathran, Kundiyan and Mandian areas of Keran block to take first-hand appraisal
of amenities provided and issues faced by the people of the area and to take on
the ground stock of various ongoing developmental works being executed by
different agencies including PHE, PDD, I &FC, R&B and others.
The Deputy
Commissioner was accompanied by Executive Engineer PHE, I &FC, R&B,
Chief Education Officer, Chief Medical Officer, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer
and various field functionaries.
DC interacted with
the local people, offered the empathetic hearing to their immediate concerns
and assured them assistance from the district administration. He directed the
concerned departments to ensure availability of essential commodities for the
people of Keran without any delay or excuse and requested the people to
communicate their demands through their representatives for early
redressal.
DC inspected many
bridges inter-connecting various areas of Keran. He issued on spot
direction to the officials of R&B to complete the road from Datt Bridge to
Keran and to ensure completion of Friends Bridge connecting Keran market to
Keran Balla by the end of this year.
While
interacting with the locals, people in unison raised demand for the supply of
electricity for a more convenient transaction of daily chores. DC directed the
PDD to mobilize men and machinery on war footing basis for installation of
requisite infrastructure so that Keran like other areas realizes the benefits
of around the clock power supply towards the conclusion of this year.
DC visited many
schools in the area to assess the need for improving or upgrading
infrastructure and providing adequate staff. He directed the concerned Block
Development Officer to ensure fencing around the building and leveling of the
ground of Girls Middle School Keran.
DC while
interacting with the people associated with Livestock sector, directed the
Animal and Sheep Husbandry department to provide free vaccination for livestock
of the area that has not been administered vaccination for ENT and F&M
disease during the current year.
DC also inspected
the work done by I&FC in the area. Officials of the department accompanied
by the local people identified various works including four Kuls (streams)
namely Keran-Dudi Kul, Patroo Kul, Keran Payeen Kul and Keran Bala Kul. These
kuls have been desilted, widened, retaining walls have been constructed, pipes
of various dimensions have been laid to ensure proper utilization of water and
avoid overflow during heavy rains or inclement weather. These works have been
executed at an estimated cost of 66.22 lacs. Besides, I&FC department
has put in place proper infrastructure around KasherKhata Nallah at Mundian and
also on Kishenganag River to prevent floods and thereby loss of life and
property at an estimated cost of 88.40 lacs.
Deputy Commissioner expressed satisfaction for the works executed,
commitments implemented and facilities ensured by all the departments including
Health for the Keran. He said that the need of the hour is to cooperate and
coordinate with each other so that the dream of uplifting and empowering each
and every person in the district is realized.
