 SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 18: Sh. Atal Dulloo, Principal Secretary, Health and Medical Education Department, met Governor Satya Pal Malik at the Raj Bhavan here today.
           Sh. Dullo briefed Governor about several important administrative matters relating to the Health and Medical Education Department and efforts of the Department in providing good health care services to the people particularly in the far-flung areas of the State.
          Governor urged Sh. Dullo to expedite process for filling up the pending vacancies in the health and medical education department to overcome the acute and recurring human resource shortage in this critical sector and particularly stressed equipping Primary Health Centres with requisite infrastructure. He emphasised strengthening of Institutions of Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) workers in order to achieve 100 % institutional deliveries and for effective postnatal care of mother and child.

DC Kargil stresses line deptts to actively participate in MR campaign to achieve cent percent targets
KARGIL JULY 12: In connection with Measles Rubella (MR) vaccination Campaign to be launched in September-October 2018 in district Kargil, a training and sensitization for all TOTs and stakeholders was held here at Conference Hall Baroo Kargil.
Executive Councilor Health, LAHDC, Kargil Mohammad Hussain was the Chief Guest while as Deputy Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) LAHDC Kargil, Vikas Kundal was the Guest of Honor on the occasion.
SMO, WHO, Dr Vikram Gupta, Chief Medical Officer Kargil, Dr Mohammad Ibrahim Khan, senior officers of district administration, representatives from various organizations including Anganwadi Workers, ASHA workers, Kargil Buddhist Association and other concerned officers attended the training programme.
Speaking on the occasion, the Executive Councillor Health while highlighting the importance of acquiring complete knowledge about Measles-Rubella, its disease profile, disease definition, geographical distribution of measles, preventive measures and technical knowledge on how to inject Measles-Rubella vaccine called upon the concerned to put in place all required and timely measures in this pursuit. 
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner stressed upon all the line departments to actively participate in the campaign so that hundred percent targets will be achieved in this regard and also asked them to motivate other people to participate. He asked the NGO’s to come forward and ensure their participation in the campaign as he said that they can play a pivotal role in this regard.
Earlier, CMO Kargil briefed the workshop about the Measles Rubella vaccination campaign and the measures taken by the department for imparting training at block levels.

RAMBAN, MAY 28: The District Health Society, Ramban organized District Level orientation on intensified Diarrhoea Control fortnight-2018 at District Hospital here on Monday.
The programme was attended by Medical Officers of District Hospital Ramban, Staff Members Para medical staff and ASHA workers besides large number of civil society members.
 MLA Ramban Neelam Kumar Langeh was the chief guest and formally inaugurated the programme in presence of Chief Medical Officer, Safi-ud-Din Khan, Dy CMO Dr Iqbal Bhat and Medical Superintendent DH Ramban, Dr DV Singh. 
In his inaugural address, the MLA welcomed    the role being played by the ASHAs for successful implementation of the IDCF 2018 to be held till 9th June.
          He appealed all the stakeholders viz. Health, Education department and ICDS to extend full cooperation for successful implementation of the programme in the district. He also asked them to work hard so that not a single child fall prey to diarrhea.
Responding to demands of locals, the MLA sanctioned an ambulance for DH Ramban from his CDF and directed CMO for early completion of its formalities
The CMO delivered Key note address about the orientation programme. He said that childhood diarrhea is among the major killer of 0-5-year-old children in India and most of the victims are children from poor socio-economic families.
He said that the ultimate aim of intensified Diarrhea Control Fortnight 2018 is to achieve zero child deaths due to childhood diarrhea. The District Health Society, Ramban is organizing the IDCF-2018 from 28th May to 9th June, 2018. He also explained to the participants about various activities to be performed during the lDCF like establishment of ORS Zinc Comer in all the health facilities.
The Dy CMO, as the Resource Person, thoroughly explained about the cause of diarrhea among the children. He also explained about the precautionary measures and interventions and Preparation of ORS at home and its uses.
 The activities during the programme included Hand washing demonstration in schools and outreach areas, lEC, IPC programmes by ANMs and ASHAs etc.

UDHAMPUR, MARCH 16-: With an aim to create awareness among the masses about ODF under  Swachh Bharat Mission, the district administration  organised a day long training programme for ASHAs and Anganwadi workers under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner Ravinder Kumar, here today.
During the programme, Sanjay Shukla from Feedback foundation,  gave power point Presentation on Swachh Bharat Mission.
While addressing the gathering, DDC emphasised upon concerned for    focus on adoption of good health practices  and required change in approach towards open defecation free   besides putting  in extra efforts to make seven blocks of the district  ODF in the initial phase.
The programme was attended by, Additional District Development Commissioner,  Arvind Sharma, PO ICDS, RimpyOhri, Chief Medical Officer, Dr. K.C Dogra, District Immunization Officer, Dr. Santosh Sharma, Deputy Medical Superintendent District Hospital  Dr. Vijay ,Block Development Officer Rupali Vaid, CDPO Yash Paul Sharma  CDPO Ghordi, Sandeep Sharma besides ASHAs and Anganwadi workers.

JAMMU, NOVEMBER 25: The Jammu and Kashmir State Commission for Women (JKSCW) in association with District Administration, Jammu organized an awareness programme to educate the participants about measures and schemes in place for women protection and empowerment here today.
The awareness programme titled ‘Respect Women’ was aimed at ensuring women empowerment at all levels and witnessed the participation of more than 150 Anganwadi workers, helpers, ASHA workers and District Social Welfare Offices.
Chairperson, Jammu and Kashmir State Commission for Women Nayeema Mehjoor, Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Kumar Rajeev Ranjan, Secretary SCW Aijaz Abdullah and ADC Jammu besides other officers were present on the occasion.
During the programme, the participants and ground level workers were educated about various state and centrally sponsored schemes so that necessary information can be dispersed to the designated beneficiaries.
The participants were briefed about schemes including Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY), Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakaram (JSSK), ARSH (Adolescent Reproductive and Sexual Health) Scheme, Ladli Beti, Rajiv Gandhi Scheme for Empowerment of Adolescent Girls – Sabla, Pradhan Mantri Matritva Vandana Yojana (PMMVY), among others.
The participants were also made aware about the national and state legislations, laws about women safety, their rights, Domestic Violence Act, Dowry Prohibition Act, etc.
“It is essential to educate women about laws and schemes designed to make them independent,” the Chairperson said, adding that, this education is essential to counter disempowerment that starts in our society from the moment a female child is born.
She said the government initiatives are aimed at changing this mindset of society, starting with women themselves.
She further said, “Empowerment of women begin when we take a stand for our rights against any infringement, violation - be it at home, in the workplace or on the streets.” She urged the participants to put in every effort to help women stand on their feet by facilitating them in enrolling for these schemes’ benefits.

She said the Commission is working towards empowering the women of J&K and bringing down the cases of crime against women. As part of the programme, an interaction was also held wherein the district level functionaries gave an update about their work at ground level and apprised the commission about the status of implementation of these schemes.
