Speaker convenes grievances camp at village Derli Kalnota in Billawar
KATHUA JUNE 15: Speaker, Legislative Assembly, Dr Nirmal Singh today held a public grievance camp at village Derli Kalnota in Billawar and listened to their issues and concerns which were mainly related to development of the area.
Addressing the people, Speaker said that the present dispensation is trying to bring governance at the door steps of people by organizing public camps at remote and far off areas. He stressed upon the need to resolve people's grievances on fast-track basis.
In the camp, people in general demanded augmentation of drinking water, health, power and improvement in the road networks in the area. Dr. Singh gave them a patient hearing and assured them that their grievances would be addressed in a time-bound manner.
Giving priority to the issues related to PHE sector, Nirmal Singh on the spot announced Rs 15 lakh from his CDF to augment PHE sector so that potable water can be provided to rural populace living in remote locations during summer season. He also divulged that in recent past Rs 1.5 crore has been spent on PHE sector so that people should not bear the brunt of lack of water during summers.
Speaker asked people to extend full cooperation to executing agencies in implementing the development projects in their areas and stressed on teamwork to bring in good governance and encouraged officials to freely interact with him with their ideas.
Underlining several initiatives launched by the State as well as Central Government to improve the socio-economic status of the marginalized sections of the society, Dr. Singh directed all the officers to synergize their efforts in sensitizing the masses regarding construction of houses under PMAY, construction of IHHLs, widow/handicap pension and assistance provided by the State Govt. for marriage of girls falling in BPL category under SMAS.
Later, the Speaker inaugurated a Panchayat Ghar at Derli, constructed under 13th FC in convergence with MGNREGA at a cost of Rs 35 lakh.
Earlier in the day, Nirmal Singh also inaugurated a tractor road from Kala Dabar to Kolonta under MLA CDF and inspected several undergoing development works. 
Among others ADC Billawar, Joginder Singh Rai, BDO, Tehsildar, Engineers, prominent citizens and other division level officers were present on this occasion.

Imphal, May 8: Chief Minister N Biren Singh said that the State Government’s ‘Go to Village’ mission has been implemented to cover all the rural and urban localities of the State.
Speaking as the Chief Guest at a ‘Go to Village’ camp held at Mongjam Community Hall in Imphal East District today chief minister said that the mission was introduced with the sole objective of bringing the benefits of different schemes at the doorsteps of the common people and also to address to their grievances at their own localities.
Stating that people would no more face the inconvenience of visiting different Government offices for enrollment of different schemes or registering their grievances, the chief minister said that officials of different Government Departments would come on their own to different localities across the State to listen/find out people’s woes.
He also said that those deserving people whose names had been left out in Socio Economic Caste Census (SECC) database, and who do not have BPL/AAY cards may also seek benefits under different social security schemes by simply submitting an application to DCs or SDOs concerned.
N. Biren said that people especially youths should not waste such opportunities but draw maximum benefits from these schemes.
Exhorting the youths to stay away from drugs and other intoxicants, the chief minister also mentioned that Agar and lemongrass plantation is a profitable occupation which they may take up with the assistance from the Government.
N. Biren said that ‘Go to Village’ mission was launched in 60 selected villages of all the 60 Assembly Constituencies of the State on May 1. On the said day, N. Biren continued, a total of 60,339 applications were received, and out of these total applications, 21,353 grievances could be immediately addressed.
Later, the chief minister distributed benefits under different social security schemes to selected beneficiaries at the camp.
About 25 different Government Departments opened stalls to address people’s grievances at the camp till evening. The chief minister also planted a sapling and inspected the stalls on the occasion. UNI

Agartala, Mar 31: Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb announced to provide one lakh LPG connections to the poor under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) by next 100 days as part of PM’s mission of smoke free India.
Flagging off an awareness campaign of the scheme in motorized vehicle today Deb stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched PMUY long back but Tripura is yet to get the full benefit of the scheme because the previous government had failed to propagate such benevolent initiative of the central government.
He said at present about 53.68 per cent of the households have LPG connections in the state and poor families stake is only a few thousands. Tripura has registered more than 67 per cent families living below poverty line (BPL).
“I have already requested Indian Oil authority to provide one lakh LPG connections to poor women under PMUY by next 100 days and hopefully we shall be able to achieve the target”,  he said adding that the Prime Minister had introduced the scheme for millions of poor women after realizing the trouble faced by them while cooking.
The smoke from burning of firewood, cow dung and others caused serious health problem for women. The LPG connection to the poor families would certainly reduce healthcare burden of the government and all the state governments were asked to achieve the goal.
Deb said the scheme had been launched in 2016 while it was implemented in Tripura on September 2017. Why did the then Left government delay the implementation? he asked. A total of 50 mobile vehicles have been pressed into service to garner awareness of the PMUJ.
Tripura has a total of 5.03 lakh LPG consumers who are served by 63 LPG distributors. Total Ujjwala connections released so far in the state is 44,623 whereas eligible households for the benefit were more than four lakh, the chief minister added. UNI

New Delhi, Mar 30: A fresh row has been unleashed between the AAP Government and Delhi Lt Governor Anil Baijal after the latter raised objection on newly proposed ‘Mukhyamantri Teertha Yatra Yojana’ aimed at providing free pilgrimage to senior citizens. 
Expressing 'disappointment' over the matter, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday accused Mr Baijal of obstructing every scheme or project of the Delhi Government.
“I feel very very sad that LG is practically obstructing every scheme and every project of Delhi Government. How do we run Government like this?,” Mr Kejriwal tweeted. 
Appealing to BJP not to obstruct to the work of the city government, Mr Kejriwal "challenged" BJP governments in states to compete with the works done by AAP in Delhi. 
Earlier in the day, Delhi Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot said that the LG has objected to this scheme and he wanted it to be restricted to Below Poverty Line (BPL) only.
“Now, LG (Lt Governor) objects to ‘Teertha Yatra Yojana’. LG wants it to be restricted to BPL. LG forgets that many children do not support their old parents. They would be happy to receive government support. And every government facility should not be restricted only to BPL,” Mr Gahlot said.
The scheme was approved by the Delhi Cabinet and an amount of Rs 53-crore proposed in the Budget 2018-19 for this purpose.
Under the scheme, around 77,000 senior citizens who are bona fide residents of Delhi, will be sent on various religious trips, for which the entire cost will be borne by the Government including insurance of the pilgrims. UNI

Lucknow, Feb 26: With 2019 Lok Sabha elections less than a year ahead, the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh could go for a major sop for the poor, providing them with free government bus rides.
The state transport department has drafted a proposal for providing free bus travel for the Below Poverty Line (BPL) families, which has been sent for approval to the government.
Officials confirming about the proposal here on Monday said that now, the ball is in the court of the government.
As per the proposal, there are around 10 million BPL families in the state and to provide them free bus rides, the department would require Rs 2,990 per family to meet the expenses. The total revenue burden of the transport department could be around Rs 3,000 crore annually, to implement the scheme. 
The draft says that once the proposal is accepted, the department will issue smart card to the families and they can travel free on government buses.
"Besides free travel , the BPL family will also get accidental insurance coverage of Rs 10 lakhs per family including Rs five lakhs in case of death," the proposal states.
The transport department has also suggested that departments like Panchayati Raj, rural development, agriculture and health can bear the cost to implement the scheme.
The official said that if the scheme is implemented, it will provide security to the girls and women of the rural area, who use private transport for cheaper fare, which will lead to apprehension of their harassment.
Meanwhile, the state transport department has fixed a target to connect all 1.07 lakh villages of the state with bus services in the next five years time.
Presently, the department is running buses connecting 58,000 villages, covering 18,000 km in the state. UNI

Shillong, Feb 20: With only few days left for the February 27 polls, the campaign in Meghalaya has started taking pace with the visit of politicians and Cabinet Ministers from the BJP-led Narendra Modi Government, and Congress party.
In last few days, various politicians from Delhi and other parts of the country have campaigned in this hills state for their respective parties and tried to woo the voters by making different promises on women safety, corruption and development.
Among the high profile BJP Ministers and leaders who visited poll bound Meghalaya were Rajnath Singh, Nirmala Sitharaman, Smriti Irani, Amit Shah, Rajiv Pratap Rudy and Manoj Tiwari. They appealed people to vote BJP for ‘development’ in the state.
Two former chief minister and veteran Congress leaders Oommen Chnady, Tarun Gogoi, former Union minister Anand Sharma, Congress Lok Sabha members Gaurav Gogoi, and Sushmita Dev campaigned for the Mukul Sangma Government.
Notably, party’s president Rahul Gandhi has also begin his second leg campaign on Tuesday to woo the voters. He will address various meetings in the state, during his two-days visit.
Both the parties have started trading charges against each other on various issues including corruption and development.
In addition, the death of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) candidate Jonathone Sangma in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast has also soared the political temperature of the state with with the United Democratic Party (UDP) demanding National Investigation Agency (NIA) probe and BJP alleging Mukul Sangma government that it failed to control law and order in the state.
The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on Monday had demanded CBI probe in to the incident.
Party’s state General Secretary termed it as "political murder" and alleged that Jonathone Sangma was targeted on the influence of a political party and only two security personnel were provided to him.
However, the Congress party condemned the incident and said that violence can never be the answer to any problem but believes that participation in the democratic process is the solution if one wants to serve and work for the growth and development of society and state. 
The party had also appealed to the people of Meghalaya to be aware and alert and not allow "divisive forces" to take advantage during this period of electioneering and foment trouble and violence in the name of caste, creed, religion or language. 
In last week, during a rally of BJP chief Amit Shah which witnessed thin attendance here in Shillong, Mr Shah had called Dr Sangma's government most corrupt by alleging it of doing scams after scams, and assured people to make Meghalaya a model state if BJP voted to power.
The party is also accusing the ruling Congress of trying to communalise the polls.
Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Smriti Irani had made effort to strike cord with women electorates in Meghalaya by promising that if BJP voted to power, a dedicated women police force would be in place to ensure security of the women.
The ruling Congress is also leaving no stone unturned to retain its power by accusing BJP of trying to impose 'Hindutva' agenda in this Christian dominated state with its divisive politics.
Their party leaders had attacked BJP over issues like demonetisation, GST, employment and price rise of essential commodities.
The Congress party has also called the National People's Party (NPP) led by Conrad Sangma as 'B' team of BJP.
The National People’s Party (NPP) which is eyeing to emerge as the single largest party had charged the Congress government on various issues including health and employment and urged people to vote for change for posterity.
Apart from that parties like UDP in its manifesto has promised that it will raise the age bar for entry to government jobs from the present age of 27 years to 32 years with five years more relaxation for SCs/STs of the state.
On mining issue, the party promised to weigh this issue from the perspectives of people’s economy and the vital duty of protection of environment if voted to power. Besides the party also proposed to provide free education to children hailing from the Below Poverty Line (BPL) families in the state at least upto the graduate level. UNI

JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 12: Speaker J&K Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta today distributed free gas connections to BPL female beneficiaries under the Scheme Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) here at Bawe.
Speaking on the occasion, Speaker said that the government has already distributed 2500 connections in Gandhi Nagar. He said that the launch of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) is a major initiative taken to improve the living standard of Below Poverty Line (BPL) families by empowering their female folk.
He said that this scheme will protect the health of women and children by reducing the serious respiratory diseases caused by the smoke of fire wood  while cooking and also helps to decline the death rate in the country due to unclean cooking fuel.
He issued instructions to concerned authorities to ensure that the benefit of the scheme reaches to  the  deserving people at the grassroots level.
Kavinder said there is a huge population living in far off villages of the State and some in cities itself, who due to poverty, are still forced to use the orthodox forms of fuel.
The Speaker also assured that people who could not get enlisted in the present list would soon be covered. He said that the Government is committed to ensure that LPG connection reaches every single household.
Kavinder Gupta also listed out various social welfare schemes launched by Centre and State governments, and urged the people to avail benefits of these schemes. He stressed upon the people to help disseminate information about these welfare programmes among others so that no household remains devoid of their benefits.
Later, Kavinder Gupta inaugurated macadamization of two roads from Narwal Chowk to Bahu Rotary and Zorawar Singh Chowk to Nanak Nagar which was executed by PWD (R&B).
Speaking on the occasion, Speaker said that the government is committed to provide basic amenities to the people living in every nook and corner of the state. 

Executive Engineer and other senior officers of PWD were also present on the occasion.
