SRINAGAR, JULY 12: Much to the relief of businessmen, traders and industrialists of the state, Advisor to Governor B. B. Vyas today ordered extension of GST amnesty scheme by 30 days.
The decision was taken by the Advisor during a meeting with the representatives of the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI).  The trade body had sought intervention of the Governor and had called on the Advisor for the same.
The Government had earlier issued a formal order no 39-FD of 2018 dated 05-02-2018 and today extended it further by 30 days on the request of the trade body. 
During the meeting with the representatives of the Chamber, Vyas said that amnesty scheme provides for grant of amnesty for settlement of unresolved issues in the old tax regime for smooth implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST).
He added that it offers an opportunity for all those traders who had earlier failed to avail the benefits of the GST scheme.

KCCI delegation calls on Finance Minister; submits charters of demands
SRINAGAR, JUNE 01: Minister for Finance, Labour and Employment, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari Fridaysaid that the government shares the concern of the people regarding the skyrocketing of airfares during the peak tourism season.
Minister said this while interacting with the delegation of Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) who called on the minister to discuss issues of Kashmir industry.
The delegation lead by President Javid Ahmad Tenga raised the issue of high air fares being charged by airlines during peak tourism season that proves a major impediment for tourist inflow in the Kashmir valley. They said Kashmir having no railway link, the air travel becomes the only preferred mode of transport and that high airfares proves detrimental to the tourism sector.
Bukhari said the government shares the concern with the chamber and that Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has already raised the issue with the concerned agencies.
The delegation urged the minister to raise the issue of handicraft sector in upcoming GST council meeting to bring the GST on Handicrafts to zero level to give boost to this industry. They said the imposition of GST has dealt a hard blow to Handicraft industry as the sales and manufacturing has gone down and it warrants reversal and withdrawing of GST on handicrafts to help the trade in improving sales. They also urged government to help organizing exhibitions, buyer seller meets and financing liberally the artisans, manufacturers, exporters-cum-traders.
The delegation also appealed for an industrial package to the state of J&K on the pattern of north-eastern states. They appealed the minister to strongly push for a scheme on the pattern of the recently approved North –East Industrial Development Scheme (NEIDS) 2017.
The members also demanded inclusion of Guest Houses and Restaurants in the decision of special power tariff to Hotels   made during the last budget session as according to them the guest houses and restaurants are part of the hotel industry.
The Minister gave patient hearing to the visiting delegation and assured to examine all the highlighted issues on priority and their appropriate disposal. He said the government is keen to promote industrial sector in the state which is key to the economy of the state.

SRINAGAR, MAY 31: A 5-member delegation of the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) headed by its President, Javid Ahmad Tenga called on the Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta here today and discussed with him the issues related to the Kashmir Industry.
The delegation also submitted a memorandum of demands to the Deputy Chief Minister and urged for addressing these at the earliest. The issues which have been highlighted in the memorandum included representation of KCCI in the JK Trade Promotion Organization, industrial package on the pattern of north east States, land transfer of Zainakote Industrial Estate, further streamlining the LoC trade and other allied issues confronted the Kashmir Industry.
The Deputy Chief Minister, who is also Minister in-charge Industries & Commerce gave patient hearing to the delegation and assured to examine all the highlighted issues on priority and their appropriate disposal. He said Government is keen to promote industrial sector in the Jammu and Kashmir which is key to the economy of the State. He sought the cooperation from the KCCI in ensuring conducive atmosphere in the Valley, which is must for the prosperity of this vital sector. He referred to his recent meeting with the Prime Minster regarding the promotion and special incentives for the industries in the State on the analogy of north-east States.  He also maintained that the Government will maintain close coordination with the Kashmir and Jammu Chamber of Commerce & Industries for achieving better results.
The delegation comprised, Nasir Hamid Khan, Senior Vice President, Majid Muzaffer, Secretary General, Dr. Mubeen Shah and Abdul Hamid Punjabi.

SRINAGAR, MARCH 27:  A delegation of Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Federation (KTMF) and Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI)   called on Minister for Finance, Education, Labour & Employment, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari here today to apprise him about various issues being faced by them.
The delegation headed by the president of KTMF Haji Mohammad Yaseen and President KCCI Javaid Ahmad Tenga along with other members of the trade bodies appraised the Minister about the extension date for submission of commercial taxes and other related issues.
The delegation of KTMF also raised the issue of traffic congestion and issues of encroachment by street vendors.
The KCCI delegation said that despite being the main nodal agency for promotion of trade, commerce and industry its members have not been nominated as an equity partner in International Trade Promotion Organization (ITPO).
The Minister, while interacting with the delegations, assured them that their grievances would be looked into and redressed in a time-bound manner. 
Bukhari assured that all the stake holders would be taken on board before taking any decision regarding business related activities in the state.

Also demand horticulture, MSME promotion, early completion of Tangmarg-Poonch road; Mehbooba assures action

Srinagar, November 02: Several deputations from all walks of life today met the Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti and brought issues concerning them into her notice.
The deputations generally sought launching a vigorous campaign to promote tourism within the markets of country and outside particularly ASEAN countries. They also sought incentivising LTC facility for employees to visit Jammu & Kashmir besides prioritising winter and conference tourism.
The deputations of Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) and J&K Chapter of PHD Chamber of Commerce also requested the Chief Minister to consider a loan waiver and support to the artisan community to protect and promote handicraft industry in the State.  
The KCCI deputation also strongly pitched for establishing an integrated Textile Park besides release of incentives to tourism industry.
The PHD Chamber deputation headed by leading hotelier, Mushtaq Ahmad Chaya sought setting up of warehouse in the Valley, an action plan for weavers to strengthen handicraft sector and GST waiver on the industry besides developing horticulture, sericulture and MSME sectors in the State. They also demanded development of Tattoo Ground and opening of interior lanes in Bal Garden, Karan Nagar and  Kak Sarai areas.
A deputation from Gulamarg demanded construction of embankments on the Ferozepur nallah, early completion of Tangmarg-Poonch road and development of tourist villages in the area. Another deputation of PHE employees union sought rationalisation of vacancy position in the Department in view of the increased reach and scope of the Department. They also demanded change in the nomenclature of various positions in the Department.
Several deputations from Pulwama sought measures to be taken for the development and beautification of the town. They also demanded developing Pulwama Bye Pass into a road besides beautification of Dhobi khul. They also demanded setting up of a PHC at Litter, installation of street lights and construction of community hall in the town.
A deputation from Harwan sought more funds for the area development, earmarking land for a children’s Park, sports ground and a health centre.
A deputation of scholars from Kashmir University and SKUAST-K sought rationalisation of eligibility criteria for selection by the Public Service Commission and other agencies. A deputation of transformer workshop owners Association sought payment of dues for their works.
Deputations of members of cooperative unions, IMPA faculty, contractual college teachers, Poultry Dealers Association, television artists etc also met Mehbooba Mufti and sought redressal of their issues.

The Chief Minister assured the deputations to look into the issues raised by them and take action at the earliest.

Min seeks Biz community cooperation to promote trade, commerce, entrepreneurship in JK  

SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 18: Minister for Education Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari today urged the State’s business community to help the Government in creating conducive environment to promote trade, commerce, entrepreneurship and investment in the State.
Interacting with a delegation of the newly elected office-bearers of the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) who called on the Minister earlier today, Bukhari said with a newly established body that mainly constitutes young members, the Government expects regeneration and expansion of the businesses and economic activity in the state. 
The Minister said it is imperative that all the stake holders including both Government as well as private players will work together to ensure a steady growth in various vital sectors of J&K's economy. The Minister added that the step would greatly help in regenerating livelihood to unemployed youth, besides providing a fillip to State’s economic activity.
He urged upon the delegation to work in synergy with their counterparts in Jammu for enhancing industrial growth, expanding social inclusion and further deepening the social responsibility of the business community.

Naeem Akhtar for regeneration, expansion of business, economic activity in JK
SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 18: Minister for Works, Naeem Akhtar today urged the JK Business Inc to facilitate creation of a conducive and enabling environment to promote trade, commerce, entrepreneurship and investment in the State.
Interacting with a delegation of the newly elected office-bearers of the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) who called on him here this morning, Akhtar said the priority of the new office bearers of KCCI, which is full of youth energy, should be regeneration and expansion of the businesses and economic activity in the state.  "I urge the KCCI leadership to focus on positivity to tide over the trade depression and economic despair prevailing in Kashmir over the past some time," he said and added that the steady decline in growth in various vital sectors of J&K's economy is quite visible and disturbing and a concerted effort is needed at all the levels to regenerate livelihood and the economic activity.
Complimenting the new office bearers of KCCI, the Minister said it is heartening to note that they have made a refreshing start by reaching out to everybody in the State in the larger interest of the business community. He urged them to work in coordination with their counterparts from Jammu to galvanize this one of the oldest business platforms of the state into a vibrant activity forum for enhancing industrial growth, expanding social inclusion and further deepening the social responsibility of the business community.
The KCCI delegation sought the Works Minister's support in facilitating construction of Chamber House in Srinagar for which the land has already been allotted by the Government near Rajbagh.
