Srinagar, July 11 :  Advisor to Governor Khurshid Ahmad Ganai Thursday said that redressal of grievances to the satisfaction of the people is the main agenda behind the JK Governor's Grievance Cell.

The Advisor made these remarks at a grievance redressal camp which he chaired here today to listen to issues and demands of the people. 

As many as 30 delegations from all over the valley visited the camp and apprised the Advisor about their issues and demands. The delegations which called on the Advisor during the camp include Citizens Welfare Forum Ganderbal who demanded speedy transition of the offices of Central University of Kashmir to its identified location in the town.

Delegations from Manigam (Ganderbal), Lajura (Pulwama) and Auqaf Committee Manzgam (Kulgam) raised developmental issues like establishment of educational institutions, adequate electricity, water, health, irrigation and road connectivity in their respective areas.

A delegation of Zadibal Constituency requested the Advisor for proper landscaping of public parks in their area which, as per them, are lying in dilapidated condition.

A deputation from Maldera Shopian desired that their areas be included in revenue village Maldera instead of Heffkuri and Badigam.

Delegations from village Jablipora Bijbehara and Narwa Pulwama demanded proper irrigation facilities for their agricultural lands. While as, Sumo drivers from Baramulla demanded allotment of permanent space for establishing Sumo Stand there.

A delegation of Subject-specific teachers demanded extension of their services till February next year instead of a month given recently. 

Another delegation of Kashmiri Pandit teachers appointed under PM package sought redressal of issues they are facing. In-service teachers in Psychology discipline demanded introduction of their subject at newly established Higher Secondary Schools.

Moreover, scores of individuals also visited the camp with their grievances.

The Advisor listened to the projected demands patiently and assured to look into all the genuine issues for their time-bound redressal.

SRINAGAR, AUGUST 03: Laying emphasis on the importance of computer and IT education, the Advisor to Governor, Khurshid Ahmed Ganai, today asked Higher Education Department to introduce these subjects at college and university level to prepare students for technical jobs both in private and public sector.
The Advisor was addressing Vice-Chancellors and  Registrars of all state-based universities, officials from Higher Education Department and Principals of colleges in a workshop titled “Road map for quality enhancement of higher institutions” organized by Higher Education Department in collaboration with National Higher Education Resource Center.
Joint Secretary MHRD Government of India  Ishita Roy, Chairperson National Higher Education Resources Centre and National Coordinator Rusa Prof B. Venkatesh were guests in the event which was also attended by  Commissioner Secretary Higher Education Department Sarita Chauhan, Vice-Chancellor Kashmir University Prof. Khursheed Iqbal Andrabi, Vice-Chancellor, IUST Awantipora Prof. Mushtaq Sidiqui, Vice-Chancellor BGSB University Rajouri Prof. Javid Masarat, Vice-Chancellor University of Jammu Prof. Manoj Dhar, Vice-Chancellor Cluster University Jammu Prof. Anju Bhasin, Vice-Chancellor Cluster University Srinagar Prof. Sheikh Javid, Vice-Chancellor Cluster University Prof. Sanjeev Jain, besides several other signatories.
On the occasion, the Advisor said that in the present times and in the near future the importance of computer and IT competency will be pre-requisite for any job whether in public and private sector and educational institutions need to prepare students to meet the demand. He said this will also help in addressing the unemployment in the state.
Ganai said that the expansion to introduce higher education in the state has put pressure on infrastructure which has eventually affected the quality of education in our institutions.
He impressed upon the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) to liberally invest for improving educational infrastructure in JK which in turn will improve the quality of education in the state.
The Advisor stressed, “Quality of science of technology in our educational institutions has to improve substantially and in this field we need to do a lot”.

Calls for regular capacity building of teachers to improve teaching skills
SRINAGAR, JULY 14: The Advisor to Governor, Khurshid Ahmad Ganai today visited government run schools in Sonwar area in Srinagar to personally take stock of the educational and infrastructural facilities in these educational institutions.
The Advisor, was during the inspection of schools, accompanied by Director School Education Kashmir Dr G N Itoo, Chief Education Officer Srinagar M K Fazili and other officials.
The team led by the Advisor conducted a detailed inspection of Government Girls Higher Secondary School and Government Boys High School in Sonwar to have firsthand appraisal of their functioning.
Ganai visited the classes and library in both the schools and interacted with teachers and students to assess the quality of teaching and learning.
The Advisor on the occasion stressed on improving the quality of education. “Education is a two-way process, when quality of teaching is improved quality of learning will also improve automatically,” he said and added “We have to create scientific temper among the students and make them competition worthy”.
He said the students have to be made ready for academic excellence at global standards and for this quality of teaching and learning has to improve substantially.
Emphasizing on capacity building of teachers he said, “Knowledge is not stagnant so at all times there is room for capacity building of teachers both in schools as well as at college level.”
The Advisor said there are new schemes and initiatives to improve quality of teaching and learning which will help in improving learning outcome in a substantial way.
He directed the school managements to ensure attendance of all teachers is marked through bio-metric system. He said biometric attendance in all government schools will greatly enhance element of accountability and ensure proper education and completion of syllabus on time.
Ganai was also given briefing about the academic activities, conduct of examinations, and attendance of students by the school in-charges.

SRINAGAR, JULY 14: Governor N.N. Vohra flagged off the first flight of 340 Hajis for Madinah Munawarrah which left from the Srinagar  International Airport this morning. Sh. Khurshid Ahmad Ganai, Advisor to Governor; Dr. S.P. Vaid, DGP; Sh. Baseer Khan, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir; Sh. Shahid Anayatullah, Secretary Revenue; Dr. Syed Sehrish Asgar, Deputy Commissioner Budgam were present on the occasion.
Governor interacted with a number of Hajis and wished them a safe journey and a highly satisfying Haj.
 This year 10,292 Hajis (including 518 Hajis who will embark from New Delhi) will be proceeding for Haj. They will travel in daily flights during 14th July - 25th July, embarking from the Srinagar International Airport.
The First flight of 340 included 179 Male and 161 Female Hajis; of whom 203 Hajis were from District Anantnag; 6 from Bandipora; 26 from Baramulla; 20 from Budgam; 6 from Ganderbal; 4 from Kulgam; 6 from Kupwara; 16 from Pulwama; 52 from Srinagar and 1 from Shopian.

SRINAGAR, JULY 02:  Today several delegations call on Advisor to Governor, Khurshid Ahmad Ganai and apprised him about various issues faced by them.
Delegation flagged several issues and demands, sought their early redress.
Advisor gave the patient hearing to the visiting delegations and assured them that he will look into their demands and will fulfill their genuine grievances.

SRINAGAR, JULY 02:  Advisor to Governor, Khurshid Ahmed Ganai, will convene public hearings to redress the issues, demands, and concerns of the general public every Monday to Thursday from 2 pm to 4 pm in his office chamber room number 220 2ndfloor of Civil Secretariat here.  
However, in case of other official engagements, no such meeting(s) will be conducted on the aforementioned days and time.
