Smriti Irani holds public meetings at Reasi


Reasi, Jan 19 :  Union Minister for Textiles and Women & Child Development, Smriti Irani today conducted public meetings at village Moori of Dheeti Panchayat and at Spritual Growth Centre here today.

Addressing a huge crowd near Middle School Moori, Smriti Irani congratulated the locals for participating in huge numbers in parliamentary as well as Urban Local Bodies elections in the recent past. She also congratulated the administration for successfully conducting the elections.

The Union Minister also passed directions for on-spot resolution of several demands raised at the occasion which were readily accepted by the district administration. A steel foot bridge over Junnie Nallah was also inaugurated by the minister at the occasion earlier in the day.

At another public meeting at Katra, the Union Minister met with elected members of Katra Municipal Committee, Panchs-Sarpanchs of block Katra, prominent citizens and a large number of students among locals. She also inaugurated road from Paroh-Arli and Kadmal-Dhanna roads through e-inauguration.

In her welcome address, the DC said that Reasi has a huge potential for organic farming and progressive farmers are already taking up cultivation of lemongrass, a highly profitable cash crop. Block Development Council chairpersons and sarpanchs of blocks Pintail and Katra also welcomed the Union Minister and raised development issues.

In a response to public demand for opening a textile unit in the district, the Union Minister assured that a suitable unit would be set up immediately after a formal request by the district administration.

Counting achievements of the central government, Smriti said that more than 8 lakh farmers are being benefitted under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi. Similarly, around 24 thousand saffron growers have benefitted under National Saffron Mission till date in J&K. She said that under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, more than 12 lakh gas cylinders have been distributed to poor households of the Union Territory.

It was also told by the Union Minister that 3.5 lakh cards have been distributed, of over 11 lakh identified, under the ambitious Ayushman Bharat Yojana through which 50 thousand residents of the UT have already benefitted. She also told that more than 140 district and sub-district level hospital projects have been identified for up-gradation in Jammu & Kashmir in addition to the two upcoming AIIMS with an allocated budget of Rs 2 thousand crore.

Appreciating the enthusiasm of people of J&K towards Panchayati Raj and other democratic institutions, Smriti said that with dialogue and participation of people, all things are possible. ‘A new wave of development has just begun’, she added.

Jammu, Oct 15 (PTI) A 55-year-old man died after falling from a hillock in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said on Monday. 


Dhani Ram, a resident of Gari village, was found dead in Thakrakote area of the district, a police spokesman said. 

He said preliminary investigation found that the deceased slipped while heading for his residence on Sunday evening.

Jammu, Sep 11 : An 11-year-old girl was killed after a leopard attacked her in Reasi district, police said Tuesday.

The incident occurred Monday when Nageena Akhter was taking a walk near her house in Jamlan hills in Mahore tehsil and the leopard attacked her, the police said.

The body of the girl was later recovered by officials, they added.

REASI, MAY 09:- The training programme on “Computerized Accounting” sponsored by State Bank Of India Rural Self Employment Training Institute (SBI-RSETI) concluded here today.
About twenty Seven youth hailing from Mahore, Sujandhar, Chasana, Thuroo participated in the 30 day long training programme and learnt skills of the trade. The programme also included entrepreneurial inputs which are bound to equip the trainees to approach life with positive, constructive and full motivated attitude.
At the valedictory functions, B K Sharma (LDM)Reasi,   and Adarsh Gupta (DDM NABARD) gave away the certificates to the pass out trainees.
 They exhorted upon the trainees to convert the learning at SBIRSETI into creation of Self-employment avenues for themselves.
 B.K Sharma (LDM Reasi) impressed upon the trainees to act as ambassadors of RSETI and spread the message in their areas, so that more and more youth avail the facilities provided by the institute and contribute in developmental process.
Rahul Dogra, Mamta Sharma, Pooja Devi, Raman Sharma and Vinood Menia were also present on the occasion.

REASI, APRIL 04: With an effort to make the newly established Industrial Estate at Gran More in Reasi functional, 18 kanal of land has been allotted to 4 firms for establishing their units at this Industrial Estate.
The formal possession of the land to firms would be given by SICOP soon and a lease deed initially for a period of 40 years will be executed between unit holders and agency before taking other steps ahead. The departments of pollution Control Board, Power, R&B, PHE and Forest have also given their nod.
Pertinently, the Single Window Clearance Committee (SWCC) held on February 26, 2018 in the office of Deputy Commissioner Reasi has also formally accorded approval to all the four firms which include Shiv Shanker Industries for duplex boxes and corrugated boxes, V V Products for Katha Pan Paste and Kuch, Chinar Agro Products for Katha and Outch and AAR JAY Fabricators for steel fabrication works.
An open invitation has already been sent by district administration to promote micro, small and medium scale industries in Reasi so that suitable firms would be encouraged to come forward in establishing their units in the industrial estate thereby giving massive push to the employment generation.
General Manager, DIC Reasi Anil Thakur informed there is an open invitation for interested industrialists for establishing their small scale industries in the estate. He assured that full cooperation and support to prospective entrepreneurs would be provided by the district administration especially by Industries and Commerce department.

REASI, APRIL 04: Commandant IRP 1st Battalion Reasi, Parshotam  Kumar Sharma inaugurated two Badminton Courts constructed by IRP 1ST Battalion under civic action programme  at Govt. Girls Middle School Gran and Govt. Middle School Lower Seela, Reasi respectively besides distributing sports equipments among the schools Children.
The inaugural function was attended by Headmasters, Teachers and Students of these schools.
 The Headmasters and teaching staff appreciated the role of police Department for being courteous and committed in fulfilling the desirable needs of students of these schools.

REASI, APRIL 02: Acting swiftly on the allegations against works department proved through inquiry report, Deputy Commissioner Reasi Prasana Ramaswamy G placed under suspension AEE, JE and Works Supervisor of Public Works Department.
In order to ascertain the merits of the complaint and to verify misconduct of the officials involved with the project, a committee was constituted to conduct a preliminary enquiry into the allegations made by the complainants and report if a prima-facie case could be made out with regard to the misconduct comprising of officers
Committee was comprising of Ramesh Chander Additional District Dev. Commissioner, Harbans Lal Assistant Commissioner Revenue and Parshotam Kumar, Deputy Director, DRDA Reasi that submitted its observations based on physical verification of the project in presence of the officials.
The committee observed that the department has constructed crated walls instead of concrete breast walls as proposed in the DPR and only ground concretization work has been done by the department by laying RBM upto Shingled and metalled status whereas road is to be upgraded upto BT status. It was also observed by the committee that the physical achievements on ground do not commensurate with financial spending of Rs. 1.16 crore by the department as the major components are yet to be executed by the Department. The observations of the committee therefore point towards probable misconduct on part of the officials.
The action was initiated on a complaint received during the Public Darbar chaired by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on 21.02.2018 in Reasi which was lodged by members of the general public residing in the immediate vicinity of the Kheral-Jeri Road in Pouni Tehsil, Reasi District. The complainants alleged that the general quality of the work executed in the said project is sub-standard, also hinting at the possibility of financial impropriety on part of the officials immediately involved with the project.
Considering the serious nature of the allegations leveled against the officials and the preliminary findings of the committee, a departmental enquiry is hereby ordered into the possible misconduct of S.S Sahwney, AEE, PWD, Sub Division, Pouni, Shadab I/C Junior Engineer & Satpal Work Supervisor with regard to the execution of the project.
Since there is a possibility of financial impropriety and misconduct on behalf of the officials, a separate inquiry into this aspect is hereby ordered which will be conducted by Additional Deputy Commissioner (District Vigilance Officer) Reasi. Meanwhile, the suspended employees will be attached with the office of Assistant Commissioner Revenue Reasi.

REASI, MARCH 02: Assistant Commissioner Development, M.Y. Malik, alongwith an officers’ team today inspected various development works being executed and completed by Rural Development Department under MGNREGA worthRs. 1 crore in Panchyats Dera and Kanjali, so far.
The major works included crate works in Kanjali and Dera Baba areas, pond in Shapano, lane drains from Nallah to Surgal Mohalla, diversion drain at Dera and related works at Dera Baba.
The team also conducted inspection of tiling work in ward-1 and Middle School, lane drain construction near Chenab river besides other locations in Panchyat Dera Baba and similar works at Thanoul.
During the Gram Sabha meets, held by the team later, apart from identifying development works, a detailed survey was also proposed for including the left out beneficiaries in the socio economic data for ensuring their coverage under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and other welfare schemes.
The department also distributed job cards among the workers besides making them aware about schemes and programmes of the government.

Announces release of Rs One Cr for augmenting power distribution network in the distt., Rs. 30 lacs each for operationalizing Reasi Maternity Hospital, developing playfields at Sungdi, Akhsi


REASI, FEBRUARY 21: Taking her public outreach programme further to so far uncovered areas, Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti visited Reasi and convened a grievances redressal camp here today. During the camp the Chief Minister listened to scores of deputations and hundreds of people from difficult and hilly areas who apprised her of their developmental needs and sought their redressal.
Minister of State for Finance & Planning, Ajay Nanda and legislators, Ajaz Ahmad Khan and Mumtaz Ahmad Khan were present on the occasion.
The deputations in general thanked the Chief Minister for reaching out to people and taking the developmental process to the far flung, hilly and difficult areas.
The demands put forth by the deputations during the day long public outreach programme included operationalization of Maternity Hospital at Reasi, bringing the area on the tourist map, upgradation of several roads and pacing up of developmental works in the district and other demands.
A deputation of residents of Reasi town demanded immediate operationalization of Maternity Hospital, bringing the town on tourist map and formulation of a cable car project between Sullah Park and Bhimgarh fort, construction of Sarsote-Shopian and Gulabgarh-Nadimarg roads, augmentation of power infrastructure, pacing up of work on the grid station and development of a children’s park in the town.
The Chief Minister announced release of Rs. 30 lacs for operationalization of Maternity Hospital, Rs. 20 lacs for development of Sulla Park and Rs. 10 lacs for developing childrens Park in the town.
Several deputations from Gulabgarh area demanded construction of Gulabgarh-Nadimarg road to provide alternate connectivity between the two regions. The deputations also sought opening of ITI centres at Mahore, Chassana and Gulabgarh, reservation in admissions at SMVDU for the students of the district, nursing college at Mahore and developing Dagan Top and Akhsi as tourist destinations.
Another deputation from the area sought opening of bank branches at Deval, Bhader, Tuli and Shergari, development of sports grounds at Sungdi and Akhsi besides urgent completion of water supply schemes in the region. They also sought establishment of fruit mandies at Chassana, Mahore and Sungdi besides establishment of college at Pouni and upgradation of local health centre.
The Chief Minister announced release of Rs. 30 lacs for developing playfields at Sungdi and Akhsi, directed prioritisation of some water supply schemes in the area for early completion and assured to look into the demand of opening of more bank branches in the region.
A deputation of Gujjar & Bakerwals sought reestablishment of mobile schools and dispensaries in their habitations, enhancement in the ration quota, realignment of Shikari-Ballard road, upgradation of some schools in the area and construction of Sonchal-Ballard bridge.
Several deputations from Thakrakote sough construction of receiving station in the area, development of sports in the area, release of payments under PMGSY and establishment of bank branches at Jij and Thakrakote.
The Chief Minister directed release of Rs. 50 lacs for the receiving station at Thakrakote and directed immediate start of work. She also directed development of water sports at Chinkra, given its potential there.
A deputation of District Bar Association sought decongestion of the court complex and identification of alternate place for its functioning.
The Chief Minister asked the Deputy Commissioner, Reasi to look into the issue while announcing release of Rs. 10 lacs for upgrading various facilities in the court complex.
A deputation from Salal complained of scarcity of drinking water in the area, development of sports field and upgradation of school at Salal Kotli.
Mehbooba Mufti directed complete operationalization of Salal water supply scheme within a week’s time and development of a sports field by Sports Council in convergence mode with Rural Development Department.
A deputation from Thuru village also demanded upgradation of grid station, pacing up of work on Revenue complex, Dharmari and Reasi-Mahore-Dharmari under construction road, establishment of Hostel at Dharmari college and introduction of Science streams and sports there.
Mehbooba Mufti announced release of Rs. 36 lacs for Grid upgradation in the area and Rs. 10 lacs for developing sports field at Dharmari. She also asked for pacing up work on the Revenue complex and directed the Deputy Commissioner,  Reasi to sort out issues coming in the way of early completion of Reasi-Mahore-Dharmari road.
A deputation of people from Arnas demanded upgradation of health facilities in the area, completion of water supply schemes in the area and establishment of Munsiff court and Railway Collector for the area.
The Chief Minister directed release of Rs. 20 lacs for completing the water supply scheme Bidda while assuring the deputation to look into their other issues.
A deputation of people from Shikari and Dugri villages sought establishment of V-Sats at Mahore and Chassana for easy connectivity of the area. They also demanded upgradation of approach road to Arnas hospital and upgradation of Thakrakote High school.
Mehbooba Mufti announced release of Rs. 20 lacs for upgradation of approach road to Arnas Hospital. She also directed formulation of DPR for Gobian-Garda road and announced release of Rs. 20 lacs for constructing community hall at Sukhal.
A deputation from Shergarhi, Gulabgarh sought construction of Sarsole-Shopian road for alternate connectivity between Jammu and Kashmir regions. They also demanded upgradation of power infrastructure in areas of Chungra, Sarsote, Manjikote, Malikote and Shiblas for which the Chief Minister announced release of Rs. 20 lacs.
A deputation of Talwara migrants sought their proper rehabilitation.
Another deputation of people demanded extension of Railway line from Arnas to Rajouri via Budhal and filling up of vacant posts of ZEOs at Chassana and Mahore.
The Chief Minister assured the deputation to look into their demands.
Many other deputations from other areas of the district also met the Chief Minister and apprised her of their problems.             
Mehbooba Mufti listened to the demands of the deputations throughout the day and it continued till late in the night. In many cases the Chief Minister gave on spot directions for the redressal of the grievances which was hailed by the deputationists.
Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Rohit Kansal; Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Hemant Sharma; IGP Jammu zone, Dr. SDS Jamwal; senior officers from the Chief Minister’s Secretariat and Planning Department; heads of several Departments; Chiefs of many Engineering wings and Heads of several Departments; Deputy Commissioner, Reasi,  R. Prassanna; SSP, Tahir Sajad Bhat; and officers of divisional and District administration were present on the occasion.
This is the seventh public outreach programme of the Chief Minister in the Jammu province. Earlier, she conducted a similar public outreach programmes at Ramban, Doda, Kishtwar, Rajouri, Kathua and Samba. She has already conducted such programmes at Pulwama, Anantnag, Kulgam, Bandipore, Ganderbal, Kupwara, Budgam and Baramulla in Kashmir Valley during which hundreds of people apprised her about their problems and difficulties.
The public outreach programmes launched by the Chief Minister have evoked an interesting response from the public who come up with their problems for an on the spot redressal.

Stresses on sticking to project deadlines, usage of quality material


REASI, FEBRUARY 21: Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, who was on a day’s visit to the place, laid the foundation of some road projects here today valuing Rs. 52 crore.
The Chief Minister laid the foundation of 160 metrepre-stressed concrete bridge over Jajjarnallah. The bridge would be constructed at a cost of Rs. 20 crore on the Panthal-Jajjar road.
Mehbooba Mufti also laid the foundation of widening and upgradation of road from Railway station Katra to Nangal including construction of 60 metre span RCC bridge on the road. The project is expected to cost Rs. 15 crore and is expected to be completed within a year.
The Chief Minister also laid the foundation of widening and upgradation of Panthal-Jajjar road. The 13 kilometre road is expected to be completed by next year and would be costing Rs. 17 crore.
Mehbooba Mufti on the occasion impressed upon the executing agencies to stick to the completion schedule of these projects and in no way let the deadlines spill over. She directed usage of quality material in the construction of these roads to ensure the durability of these roads.
The Chief Minister also inaugurated the newly constructed road from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University to Nangal which would benefit a huge population of catchment areas.

Assures improved amenities in Reasi town

REASI, JANUARY 05: Minister of State for Finance and Planning, Ajay Nanda today said that government is working hard to upgrade basic amenities in urban and rural areas of the state and in this regard several micro and macro level projects are under way to provide enhanced facilities including better sanitation.
The Minister was speaking to locals after laying the foundation stone for construction of two lanes and drains at wards No-5 and 12 in Reasi town.  
The Minister said the Government is endeavoring to afoot basic services in every part of the state besides laying thrust on extending more accountable, responsive and transparent administration to the people.
He further said this will not only ensure effective implementation of developmental initiatives but will also encourage the authorities to work hard and achieve fixed targets well in time.
The Minister instructed the officers of Municipal Committee Reasi to encourage the local people for constructing toilets in their homes for which government is also giving financial assistance. He said people should launch a campaign to eradicate improper garbage dumping practices. 
Meanwhile, locals appreciated the lanes and drains work being executed in Reasi town besides demanding new works for left out areas of the town. The Minister assured the people that their demands would be looked into for necessary action.

Later, the Minister also took round of the town and inspected the ongoing works of public utilities mainly those at completion stage.

REASI, JANUARY 05: Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Gool Arnas, Aijaz Ahmed Khan today directed the officers to take speedy action on issues and demands raised by people of several villages of Arnas Tehsil.
The MLA passed these instructions to officers in a public grievances redressal camp at Arnas. The MLA was accompanied by SDM Mahore Yaseen Chowdhary, Tehsildar Arnas Mohammad Hussain, Executive Engineer PHE Dharmari and other block level officers.
Earlier, the people raised the issues of land compensation, uninterrupted water and power supply, time bound ration supply, distribution of seeds, proper functioning of Anganwadi Centers, filling up of vacant posts in education and health institutions, engagement in railway etc.
Aijaz assured the people that issues of road connectivity, power sub-stations, upgraded educational and health infrastructure would be raised before the government for their resolution.

The MLA also directed the executing agency for up-gradation and blacktopping of damaged roads. He also asked the officers of RDD to ensure the cent percent completion of works before the close of financial year.

Over 200 certificates, 55 mutations attested in camp
            REASI, DECEMBER 23: To reach out to the people in remote areas for delivering public services at their doorstep, District Development Commissioner Reasi, Prasanna Ramaswamy G today held a public grievances camp at Laiter Pouni.
            The DDC was accompanied by SSP Tahir Bhat, ACR Harbans Lal, ACD MY Malik, CEO B.S. Jaral, Executive Engineer PDD Thakur Dass, DPO Harpal Singh, Tehsildar Rajesh Barru and various other district  and block level officers.  
            The major issues flagged by public include doctors and X-Ray machine at PHC Laiter, crop damage insurance, power receiving center, garbage disposal plant at Bhambla, activation of water supply schemes, replacement of outdated water supply pipes, inclusion of genuine people in PMAY lists, development of Dada Masan Devsthan, up-gradation of schools and medical centers, lorry Adda at Bhambla, Jhola bridges in unconnected places, check dams, construction of boundary walls in schools, improvement of new link roads etc. 
            After patiently listening to the grievances of the people, the DDC redressed some of the public grievances on-spot and for rest assured the people that district administration would take all necessary steps to resolve them in time bound manner.
            DDC directed the officers to remain in contact with the people and pay regular visits in all remotest areas to build confidence besides ensuring the quality of developmental works and disseminating awareness about ongoing schemes of state and centre governments among public.
            He instructed the officers to initiate village-wise campaigns to educate the common masses regarding schemes and programmes which can ease the services delivery system.
            Earlier, the DDC visited Tehsil Office Pouni and listened demands and issues of a public deputation. He paid visit in Government Hr Sec School and hospital where he inspected the education and health care facilities.
            At Bhambla, the DDC along with SSP Reasi inspected the site where a police chowki is being established by the police department. Enroute, he also paid visit in PHC Bhambla where demand of establishing trauma center was raised.
            During the camp, the revenue officers also issued 153 PRCs and 49 categories certificates besides attesting 55 mutations of different types.    

            Speaking on good governance, the DDC urged the people to come forward with innovative plans and ideas so that schemes of government are implemented on the ground in letter and spirit. He asked the locals to extend cooperation in resolving issues of construction works of buildings, roads, bridges, foot paths etc.
