Mumbai, Aug 25: Actor Shahid Kapoor says when he was approached to star in the Hindi version of Telugu blockbuster "Arjun Reddy" he felt there was no need to remake the film as the original was "too perfect".

Shahid, 37, will be playing the lead in the film and the actor said the arc of the character excited him and he decided to come on-board the project.

"'Arjun Reddy' is in the preparation stage. We will start shooting for it around October 1. The first thought I had in mind was why are we remaking it. It is too perfect. But then after spending sometime with the script I thought this character is so exciting I want to give it a try," Shahid told.

The actor said he prefers being part of projects that come from a place which is "very real".

"Content is changing and it is reflection of the fact that different material is coming to actors. And whenever I get that opportunity I kind of jump on it. I am very attracted to films which talk about the issues that we can relate to. I like stories being real."

The original "Arjun Reddy", directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, featured Vijay Deverakonda in the titular role. Sandeep will be helming the Hindi version as well with Bhushan Kumar's T-Series producing the film.

Mumbai, Aug 25: Shahid Kapoor and wife Mira Rajput welcomed their first child together, Misha, two years ago and the actor says fatherhood has completely changed his outlook towards life.

Shahid, 37, says it is impossible for an actor to not be "self-oriented", but fatherhood has taught him to be less self-absorbed.

"Fatherhood has brought a lot of change in me as a person and as a human being. My priorities have changed. I am less self-oriented now, because I believe actors can never be not self-oriented. "I enjoy the whole limelight now. Did I enjoy when I started? I am not sure because I was very conscious of myself and I was not very fashionable and didn't understand things. I was not born and brought up in that atmosphere I had a very middle class life."

Shahid said he decided to focus on his off-camera appearances because it was part of his job.

"It is something which has come with time. I have cultivated it and I have learned to enjoy it. Honestly, I am the kind of person that if something is part of my job I will work hard to get it right. Mumbai, Aug 16: Shahid Kapoor sent fans in a frenzy when he had said he would be teaming up with Imtiaz Ali for a film but the project never happened and the filmmaker says queries around the movie should not be directed to him as he never announced it in the first place.

In December last year, Shahid had expressed excitement about his team up with his "Jab We Met" director for a new film with an "interesting" subject.

The actor had said he would start shooting for the same after wrapping up his upcoming release "Batti Gul Meter Chalu".

Soon after there were reports that the project was shelved and Shahid later told reporters that the film is "not happening this year" and they might "probably work on something else."

When asked about reports regarding the film with Shahid, Imtiaz said, "There will be more news like this because the fact is, I keep meeting actors and there is always going to be some speculation..."

"I never announced a film. I never said I am making a film. I never said I am working with Shahid Kapoor. So now when people ask me that the film is not happening, I reply, 'Which film?' I never said it. Jisne bola usko bolo (Talk to the person who spoke about it). There's no truth to it," the director said in a group interview.

Imtiaz last directed Shah Rukh Khan starrer "Jab Harry Met Sejal" and the filmmaker says he has currently written four stories and has developed two screenplays.

"I have turned producer so I have to keep some material ready... The only asset that you have in this work is script. So once these four scripts are ready, depending up on the availability of the suitable actors, I will start working."

New Delhi, Apr 18: Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor's half-brother Ishaan Khatter who is all set to mark a debut in the industry with Majid Majidi’s directorial ‘Beyond the Clouds’, says his character Aamir is an extension of Majidi sir.
Talking to UNI, Ishaan who was in the National Capital, along with his co-star Malavika Mohanan and Iranian director Majid Majidi, said, “Spending time in Majidi sir's presence, and getting to know him helped me in playing Aamir, because the character stems from him.”
“Aamir is an extension of Majidi sir. So to understand Majidi sir as a person, made me understand Aamir better,” Ishaan said.
The actor also said he spend a lot of time with the text of the film.
Talking about his inputs as an actor in the project, Ishaan said, 'I am a first time actor and Majidi sir was gracious enough to listen to my opinion most often. But I think most of my input as an actor was to do my responsibility and my own character.”
“So most of my inputs were to do language of the character, and his choices in the moments in the scene. I tried to spend most of the time at the locations that this boy Aamir would have grown up in,” he said.
Telling about his research for the role, Ishaan said, 'I used to spent time in Dharavi. I roamed about, exploring the place, talking to the locals. I was fortunate that I had cast members, who are playing my friends in the film were born and brought up in Dharavi. We became good pals. I used to converse with them about their lives, they used to tell me about their experiences and that helped me in understanding my character better.”
On asking what did he learnt from Majid Majidi, Ishaan said, 'We spoke about everything under the Sun during the time we had spend together. And I think the biggest learning that I received from him was that so many things will catch up with you, so many responsibilities will come to you because you are an actor, but it is very important to retain your values, remain a good human being, strive to be a better person and if you prioritize that then everything else will come to you.”
The actor said that all the stories of Majidi reflect his values and the person he is.
“They are deeply humane. So being in tune with him helped me playing this character better and give him what he wanted. And I feel we are like minded people and I think it only brought me closer to him. I guess it made our tuning more synchronised,” he said.
On asking whether this movie has opened the avenues for him outside India, Ishaan said, 'Yeah I hope so because it has a wide release all over the world.”
“I don't have any control over these things but with the little knowledge I have, I can say that the film is going to be watched by followers of Majidi sir all over the world. But beyond that I don't have control on the things,” he said.
On the changes that has come in his personality after doing this project, Ishaan said his values have been reassured after this movie.
“There are many changes in my personality after doing this movie. As an actor I have achieved something, have become more confident, it was a cathartic experience. My values have been reassured after this film. I have got a stamp of Majidi sir that the path I am in, the way I think that is correct and keep that thing maintained, and keep growing as an human being,” Ishaan said.

We have shown that we are consolidated,' the 'Udta Punjab' actor said.  'Cinema is above languages, above barriers, cinema is above nations, cinema is life,' remarked the actor who made his film debut in 2003 with a leading role in the romantic comedy 'Ishq Vishk', a sleeper hit, and bagged a Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut for the same.
