Muzaffarnagar, Sep 13: At least six people were injured in a clash between two groups over the construction of a wall in Shamli district's Gangeru village, police said Thursday.

The incident took place Wednesday in an area under the Kandhla police station.

Members of both the groups attacked each other with lathis and sharp weapons. They also resorted to brick batting, Station House Officer Anil Kumar said.

The injured are undergoing treatment at a hospital.

Muzaffarnagar, Jul 10: A 35-year-old man, missing since Sunday, was found dead in Lisadh village in Shamli district, police said today.

The deceased was identified as Rishipal.

The body was found last evening and sent for post mortem, they said, adding that the matter is being investigated.

In Sikanderpur village in the district, a 60-year-old man was found dead on a college's campus yesterday.

Police said the deceased was identified as Satpal, a guard at the college.

It is suspected that he died on Saturday. The body was found after the college opened yesterday, Station House Officer M S Gill said.

The body was sent for post mortem.

Shamli, UP, Apr 10: Nine members of a family were killed and three others injured 
when a SUV collided with a truck on the Meerut-Karnal highway in the district on Tuesday morning.
The occupants were on way back to Meerut after paying obeisance at Vaishno Devi.
Police said the driver of the SUV lost control over his steering and his vehicle jumped the divider and collided with a truck coming from opposite direction on the other lane. The truck overturned after the collision.
The accident occurred near Laxmanpur village under Jhijhana police station area at 0600 hrs. The deceased included four women and a child, police spokesperson Rajesh Kumar Tiwari said.
While seven died on the spot, two other succumbed to their injuries at the hospital. Among the injured, the truck driver was also critically injured. 
The deceased were identified as Sangita, Premwati, Jai Kishan, Jai Dev, Nidhi, Neetu, Savtri Devi and Jai Ram Tevetia along with two-year-old Honey.
The victims hailed from different localities of Meerut city. UNI


Shamli, Jan 4: After battling for over two days, Constable Ankit Tomar, died at about 11:00 pm on Wednesday while undergoing treatment for bullet wound sustained in exchange of fire with notorious criminal Shabbir.
Superintendent of Police Dr Ajay Pal Singh said here on Thursday that injured constable succumbed to his injuries at around 11:00 pm while treatment at a private hospital in Noida.
Station House Officer (SHO) Bhagwat Singh and constable Ankit Tomaw were injured on January 2, in exchange of fire with criminal Shabbir carrying reward of Rs 50,000 on his arrest. Constable Ankit Tomar who suffered bullet injury on his head was taken to a private hospital in Noida where he died while undergoing treatment.
Ankit is survived by his wife, a three-month-old son and three year old daughter.
Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his heartfelt condolences to the family of martyr constable and announced exgratia of Rs 50 lakh for the family of martyr. UNI

Shamli, Sept 12: A dreaded criminal was shot dead in an encounter with police in Jhijhana area of this district of Uttar Pradesh. However, four other criminals managed to escape. Superintendent of police (SP) Dr Ajay Pal Sharma said the encounter took place last night when the criminals were planning for a dacoity at the residence of a trader. In the encounter, criminal Raju Loni, on whom UP police had announced a reward of Rs 12,000, was shot dead. Rajy was a native of Ghaziabad and around 20 cases of murder, kidnapping and loot were pending against him. UNI


Shamli, Jul 29 : Two dreaded criminals were shot dead during an encounter with police in Kairana area of the district in western Uttar Pradesh here today. In the encounter, five policemen, including the police station in-charge of Jhinjhana, were also injured. Superintendent of Police (SP) Ajay Pal said here that police got the information about the presence of two dreaded criminals Naushad alias Dany and Sarvar in Bhura village where the encounter took place. During the firing, Naushad and Sarvar were killed on the spot, while five policemen, including the Jhinjhana police station in-charge Bhagwat Singh, was injured. The other injured policemen are Senior Sub-Inspectors Adesh Kumar and Sandeep Baliyan and two members of the Special Operation Group Raju Tyagi and Ashok. The SP said Naushad and Sarvar were noted criminals of UP, Delhi and Haryana. The UP government and Haryana government had announced a reward of Rs 50,000 and Rs 10,000 rspectively on Naushad. The UP government had also put a reward of Rs 12,000 on Sarwar. He said both the criminals were staying in Bhura village and planning for some big operation in the nearby area. UNI
